  1. I can't tell you because I'm not posting in any more Eric Moulds threads.
  2. I refuse to participate in any more Eric Moulds threads. Oh... Crap. Damn. Never mind.
  3. I tried to come up with something, and couldn't. Guess I've had some dry interviews both ways. I like Tenny's and KTFABD's.
  4. OK, give me a more thorough and cost effective way of monitoring remote border areas. Either that, or everyone quit pissing, moaning and whining about border security. FWIW, using military surveillance assetts for border security operations is perfectly legal, well within posse commitatus and doesn't require a warrant, so everyone sit on it and spin.
  5. Plywood. It's a good word, and plywood is usefull.
  6. Yes. There's always a way to do most anything.
  7. Man, I'd go with that except my navy bean ham, sausage and bean celery carrot onion, tomato thing isn't bad.
  8. I think we should trade up, and draft all three emerging college quarterbacks. That will make eveyone happy. After all, it's been pointed out about 157 times why this is good. Damn, it's only been pointed out 86 times how much better they are than the "class of 83". I've not only heard of them, but I have also eaten soup.
  9. It's Thursday? sh--, that blows my whole argument. Damn.
  10. LOL. Nice one. Struck me as funny, anyway.
  11. There, I think you get into whatever "individual" aspects are left. Some people still free lance, and can do it on reputation. As Armadillo says, there are exceptions. I know a few too, and they are dedicated and good people. And, as you point out, continuity is important in the DoD, as the DoD is unique amongst government agencies in having leadership turnover policy. GS, SES and actually nowadays, contractors provide that. But to give my opinion on the question...man, I don't know. I have a good idea of what you are talking about. But in what little you have said, I'd guess this person has friends in high places. Best I can say, FWIW (being a planner) is if this person is truely an incompetent impediment - be sure first your goals are not contradictory to a bigger picture. Examine as many angles, and also their POV as much as you can. If you reach the same conclusions, very quietly develop a strategy with a plan and alternative plans to get what you want without harming them. Everyone has to save face. Vocal and visible is not a good tactic. Not saying you are, it just isn't. Works for news channel soundbites, but not in the real world. Damn...I could write a lot on this, and probably doesn't sound like I made any sense at all. Just hard to get it down in a couple paragraphs.
  12. sh--, I'll work for Al Jazeera if they pay me right. I don't see it as a big deal. Media is media. After all, we taught them.
  13. I think a lot of us agree more than we let on. (Yes, there are exceptions) PPP, the great melting pot of Buffalo Bills society. Why are so many people afraid of us? We get along.
  14. Picture the Masons, or some other lodge... There is a government within government that has little if anything to do with the political party in charge. Most Federal operations are actually run by members of the SES. The Holy Grail of the GS system. Career civil servants who have had to basically eat their own young to get there. Many are technically competent, at least those that I know, but at the same time, they didn't get there by being unselfish. And unfortunately, they can't be voted out. I don't know about other branches, but in the DoD they are accorded General Officer protocol. They are even presented with a flag to display in their office, on the other side of the American one. I'm sure I'll get nailed on this one, but I've always been of the mind that very senior civil service are those who couldn't make it in private industry. Love of country doesn't mean working for 1/3 the pay you can get basically doing the same thing as a consultant. Anyone got anything to add? I could be somewhat off-base here.
  15. Yeah, sort of... An excellent tool for border surveillance. But, it's damned if you do and damned if you don't. The same people speaking out against their privacy being invaded are many times the same ones who complain that no one is doing anything about border security. I do agree some with the pilot guy, though. Those things are designed to be hard to see. I have no idea what altitude they work in, but I'd guess it's within Indian Territory.
  16. Maybe it's time to explore bus lines? More time to get to know the staff.
  17. Chicken and egg, cart before horse. But yeah, that would fix a lot. It would though, take ammo away from agenda-eers. The reality (I'll defer to possum on the half shell for elaboration) is that a lot of times it really isn't that difficult to get legislation that changes certain aspects of certain laws to fit emerging situations. Especially if it really doesn't affect some Congresscritter's interests. Only when as I said, it can be used as ammunition.
