All that snow and laid in beer...

I've read several of your posts. Do you practice to be a parody? Or does it just come naturally? You are apparantly one of those with no knowledge of anything, but plenty of opinion fueled by ignorance and 30 seconds worth of inhaling from CNN and moveon.org. When you can start backing something up beyond whatever Ms. Pelosi has said, you might be able to make a contribution.

So what happens intermediate term? (1 yr)
Ghost of BiB replied to Taro T's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Currently it's estimated that it will take up to 3-4 years to get everyone into permanent housing. Several millions have been released to provide for 25,000 immediate temporary jobs related to clean up and recovery. More will follow. -

Right now the target day to get everyone currently in shelters out of temporary shelters is 18 days. Various factions of government are arranging the housing, from leasing to actually purchasing several hundred thousand trailers. Not only do the displaced have to be housed, but the thousands upon thousands of personnel required for the recovery. I don't know anything about jobs. Hearings? Right. We have to have an in place plan to house a million people for more than a year ata atime, or we are bad and don't care. -
I had hoped to bring something to the table here, have pretty well decided not to. There's just way too much venom, and anything I could write now would be taken as "Republican Propoganda". I've been working in a 24 hour per day operations center comprised of representatives of every organization from FEMA to TSA to Coast Guard to NASA to FBI to Corps of Engineers and and many beyond that and in between. They are essentially a information nexus providing situational awareness to the leadership of the country, and also to the state and local governments. I've been associated with government for a long time. That's everyone's government, from Ford to Bush 2. In all that time, I've never seen anything like this. Blame who you want, and continue to B word about photo ops or whatever, but this country right now is pulling out all the stops. There are thousands of problems, and people are working themselves past exaustion to try to solve them. And a tremendous amount have been solved and are on their way to being solved. And it's only been a week. No where in history in any part of the world has a government had to contend with so many things, and have gotten so much accomplished in a matter of days. So screw it, B word on - point at every little friggen thing you can and make sure you vote for whoever CNN, MSNBC, FOX or whoever tells you next time votes come around. I'm looking at this stuff pretty well head on from overhead. I know that nothing is getting portrayed in the media right, some of it is bias and want of ratings - but I've learned more so in the last couple of days that the networks are taking snapshots. No one is approaching this story from the whole. Were that to actually happen, maybe some people could take some comfort that no one in the world could do what we are doing now, that it's devestation, a tragedy and it isn't going to be perfect. But it sure is impressive.

Bush uses firefighters for props
Ghost of BiB replied to Dr. K's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
You want to point out to me where I'm a right wing nut? And, what has been your "contribution", bucko? Oh, and I love the media telling the truth part. I've been working in a place where there is actually a statistic sheet being kept on the amount of media coverage that is innacurate and downright false. But, since it's being kept by the people actually responsible for providing actual situational awareness to the folks organizing and controlling things, from local to federal government - it must be a lie because it doesn't fit your venom. If you people ever took the time to look at stuff objectively, for what it's worth and got off you mantra - you might actually start to understand how things are. But no, understanding something would get in the way of soapboxes. Stick to football comments. You have nothing of value to add to anything past that. -

Because everyobody involved knows they can be the scapegoat. On the Federal level, it's the process - not personalities. It took 9/11 to try to change some things, and to this day many are still being fought. That is not an administration issue, either - it's our government, the way they do things. We have lots of laws, and lots of rice bowls. It's going to take Katrina to relook and rethink how other things get done. People are now doing the best they can, I don't think anyone really grasps the scale. -
Don't be baited by Garafalo.

Or NOT doing. Including probably many here. I have a mental image of people flipping between MSNBC and MTV saying "Bush bad" with cheese puff crumbs dribbling down their shirt. Debbie, people should contribute what they are best able to contribute. Sean Penn would be much better served to use his name and fame on TV trying to pull people together and solicit funds. Paddling around in a 6 foot jon-boat is ridiculous.

Some people are only going to see what their pre-conceived notions and opinions will allow them to see. Truth and fact have little or no bearing. -
But you're not a republican, so you don't count.
-
You're not getting the answers you want to hear, and that's pretty well the long and short of it.

1, 5 and 6 all AFC East. If the power rankings are to be believed, it's also going to be some tough competition.

Evacuation Vehicles Forget any of the text, unless you feel like reading it. This picture says a thousand words. Well, damage has been done. It's all Bush's fault, so let's move on. -

Maybe him and Bruce Smith can open a place together. They could call it "Remember When". Flutie can be the doorman. -
FYI... DIRECTV has designated Channel 100 as their official "Hurricane Katrina Information" Channel. Public information on road closures, shelter locations, etc as well as message postings.

I wouldn't mind having Norwood back.

If it happens at all, it will be years. Three Texas teams. That could get interesting. -
This should get interesting.
