This will probably be another case of whatever works best for you, and the style and conditions which you hunt in. I like to still hunt, and rarely use a stand. Don't know the availabilty for an 870, but I have used a high profile see through scope mount before that allowed me to use iron sites under the scope if I wanted to. It's a thought.

I'd personally go with iron, rifle style sights on a slug barrel. You aren't talking lots of range, anyway. I used a 4x fixed on the Ruger, mostly for spotting in the brush over aiming. Also used a 4x fixed on my Remington 7400, good all around magnification. I also try hard not to take shots at running deer past 30-50 yards or so. "Moving deer" have a funny tendency to stop and look around. As far as tracking a moving target, just practice on cars at a distance, but try not to let them see you. Follow the target with your lead, and keep moving through the target as you fire. "Don't ambush". You are more likely to miss by tracking ahead and jerking to a stop to fire than continuing a smooth action.

Every time I see him the words "just give it to them" flash through my mind. It may have been discussed elsewhere, but wow - how many first and fives and outright first downs did the Bills get, and how many crappy situations did the fins find themselves in over penalties?

Was this the first game in collective memory where he hasn't totally screwed the Bills somewhere along the line? Sure put it to the Dolfins, though. 18 penalties and could have been more. Is the league finally taking some pity? That would not have been the same game without them.
