  1. Ah, Counsellor...I abhor the "slippery slope" cliche, but here we are. Nothing is that black and white, we both know that. How about I'm the sole support for a family of 7, and while crossing the street I get crippled by a drunk driving a Chevy? He's drunk because the Bud commercials are really cool, and he's a lemming. Chevy advertises their car as "A smart car" with all kinds of technology to make driving easier. He hits me because while intoxicated, he's busy programming the next bar into his nav computer, instead of looking at the road. His insurance lapsed, because he didn't pay it. But, he registered the car with a valid card. So, I'm out of work. Do I have a suit against A-B and GM? Can I sue the insurance company for not informing the state DMV? Can I sue the state DMV for not knowing his insurance expired? This isn't a gun issue. It's a tort issue being used to backdoor 2A rights. If every time someone gets shot, the door is open to sue a manufacturer for a few mil, those costs will get passed to the consumer and/or the manufacturer will make the business decision not to market there. Plus, Mayors of certain municipalities have used this to pander to their democratic base from an urban standpoint as a crime control measure. It's been marketed that way. Straight up, didn't even try to hide it. Thankfully, there are a lot of Democratic representatives who hunt, and own guns. Not every NRA member is a toothless Bible toting ignorant Republican redneck, as much as many of you would like to think so.
  2. Haven't read it, but don't we both doubt it? That would be irresponsible whatever the subject. If my pistol blows up in my face because they used substandard metals, I'm darn sure suing. However, I'm not going to sue Ruger if I get winged while some crack head is holding up the 7/11 store while I'm buying a pack of smokes. I'm not, as a city government - going to sue Colt because I can't control my crime rate (Atlanta, New Orleans and a few others).
  3. This was, is and has been an end around at the 2A. The intent was to make liability so expensive that gun manufacturers would just pull out and shut down. If a weapon is defective, say a bad safety catch that's one thing - but suing a company that makes weapons because someone gets hurt with one is ludicrous. Where is the negligence? Were this to fly, how unrealistic is it to see, as was mentioned, automobile manufacturers being sued because someone was injured or killed by using a non-defective product that has potentially dangerous characteristics?
  4. Not a law person, but as a layman it seems like the tobacco suits let the cat out of the bag.
  5. Can't sue gun manufacturers. Guess the anti-gun lobby will have to try something else.
  6. Ditto to what everyone else has pretty well said. I have gotten some relief in the past, and was lucky enough to have my last one refer me to an orthopedic surgeon instead of screwing me around with stuff that wasn't helping. I have found, in my case that repeated treatments actually made things worse, after the initial relief. Everyone is different.
  7. I just tripped in here. This football talk is just so awesome. Way cool, dudes.
  8. Guess you'll have to toss a few extra cats into the diesel converter. Suck it up, that's what we all have to do.
  9. Never, ever admit you are pushing 50. Unless you are under 25, you don't understand anything. Didn't you get the memo?
  10. Want one or are you bitching? I'm thick. I already used my brain cell allotment for the day getting out of the parking lot. I'd mention the cowbell, thing - but all I'd hear is another 6 pages of why Picard is better than Kirk. Young un's. What can you do?
  11. NBA? What's the NBA? Isn't that some sort of a social program?
  12. You sure you spelled that right? I thought it was i-m-p-o-t-e-n-t. Not to pick, I just know how you are sometimes with spelling. Just trying to help.
  13. Just gotta love the hot suburban soccer mom look. I think it's because they seem...neighborly and attainable? Although, I wouldn't know - according to NBF I'm looked at by women as the guy who refills the kotex machines in the local bowling alley, so I'd better not get any real aspirations.
  14. Maybe it's because the media almost always puts a conservative tag on a conservative, but never does so for a liberal. The "Conservative Senator" from xxx The "Senator" from NY Don't believe me? Watch the big three news and count.
  15. A classic type of old fashioned ghost story, that just gives you the creeps is a George C. Scott movie called "The Changeling". Unless they just want blood and gore, it's worth a watch. Review
  16. Holy Shidt! That was wicked fast.
  17. Most times when people discuss these issues, no one talks too much gray. It's either black or white. I don't want to step on too many biblical toes, but anyone taking the entire old testament (and new, for that matter) as the way it was and the way things are is pretty narrowly focused. Most major ancient religions have similar stories and speaking bible specific, it is the story of one group of people with a fairly common sense of beliefs. The basic "laws" of the bible (or of any other legitimate work of the time) set up basic societal survival skills. Always intertwined with government and laws. Funny how we can tell ourselves we are so smart, and stepping back we see we are are so stupid. Think about it. Any religious precept is grounded in man. They are all basically interpretations and opinions. Somehow, because we have developed a brain capable of technology, the true sense of wonder is gone for many - some people making the arguments gravitate to "science" and say all is A. Others gravitate to the "mystical" and vote B. Not a lot of room for C-X. But C-X is out there. Sorry if it's not in Scientific American or the King James.
  18. Well, good. That saves me spending all that time in front of the TV filing off serial numbers.
