  1. Proving my point.
  2. Getting good players in the later rounds gives you advantages high round draft picks and free agents do not. You sign them at a very low price and if they turn out to be good players you can negotiate long term contracts with them below market rates. That actually frees up money for acquiring veteran free agents.
  3. I said nothing. It was Dawgg that posed the question. Personally I would not have answered Dawgg's question because I don't like "what if" type questions and it was irrelevant since WM was expected to be a much better back than LJ. WM was supposed to be a LaDainian Tomlinson or Edgerrin James type of back. Furthermore, while you simply focus on the word "better" Dawgg said "slightly better" and he wouldn't recover from his injury for 1 1/2 years. Given that his injury was potentially career ending, I think it would be indefensible to take the "slightly better" damaged goods back 4 slots ahead of someone who could contribute immediately. Your stance smacks of homerism.
  4. Under those circumstances, yes you'd still pass on LJ for WM? Am I reading that right?
  5. McKinney really gets a bad rap over that "hold out". The fact is that he was being lowballed, said he would sign when given a contract comensurate with his slotting and did just that when the Vikings finally caved. Outside of McGee, has any of his mid to late round draft picks amounted to anything?
  6. What makes you say that Bledsoe is brain challenged?
  7. Post #4. Matt Hasselback was a PS player. Perhaps the other 3 were as well. Why don't you try googling their names and "Practice Squad"?
  8. This is terribly deceptive. Though you say Tom Brady skews the results you seem to ignore that Favre and Elway skew the results as well since you count them as trades and do so twice. While it may be technically true that Elway was a trade, he was only traded because he refused to play for Irsay. He was developed by the Broncos and played literally his entire career with the Broncos. He should be counted as a 1st round pick. Though you claim that 2nd day picks accomplished as much success as first day picks, that simply is not true since you ignore where the traded or "free agent" players were drafted and you count Brady 3 times. Elway, Collins and Dilfer were all 1st round picks and Favre and Chandler were 1st day picks. If you were to look at where these players were drafted you would have 9 1st day picks (7 1st rounders), 4 2nd day picks and 2 UDFAs which does demonstrated a diminished level of return with draft status.
  9. Isn't Gibson making vet minimum? If so, then if he earns a starting spot, the Bills got a bargain. If he simply provides quality depth, something sorely lacking on this team, the Bills still got a bargain.
  10. So what was wrong with what I said? If the Bills are using an underpaid #9, how are they not lowballing. Take a overly paid #7 and an underpaid #9, average them and you get a reasonable #8.
  11. Your ability to quote is not in question. Your ability to understand what you quoted and respond to it instead of responding to what you wish I said is. Specifically, where did I criticize the Peters extension? Where did I criticize Peters or McNally? Where did I say I know more than McNally? Questions I asked which you didn't respond too, a recurring theme from you I might add. The Peters extension was a good thing but hardly major and not worthy of breaking out the Pom Poms. It was something that was started under Donahoe. It was the obvious thing to do since he was already under contract. It was rather minor compared to the other issues I raised.
  12. Actually responding to the topic has never been your strong point Darin. You do little more than personal insults. You might as well get used to it. Questioning the decisions of the GM has been done on every message board for every professional team. People will talk about Marv for as long as he is GM and beyond, just like they did with TD.
  13. Yeah, the comment was made by a fellow kool-aid drinker on a different topic. Didn't stop me then either.
  14. Hardly original.
  15. If Marv did mostly positive things and I'd make positive posts. Its ny my fault that he hasn't. If you think I'm wasting your time there's a very simple solution, don't read my posts.
  16. I can't argue with anything you said. I was skeptical about Marv when he was hired and have said so at times during the off season. I am giving him a chance but from what I've seen, he has pulled several major gaffs while taking the right course of action in some rather minor obvious matters. I thought some of the bloom might have come off that rose by now, with his guy being unsigned for so long, but the excuse fest just ramped up.
  17. You do realize the GG is, unsurprisingly, trying to put words into my mouth, don't you? Where did I criticize McNally or Peters? Or is your schtick nothing but getting the right wing back slapping circle jerk society into action?
  18. So following the advice of your OL coach is now considered a stroke of genius? And where did I criticize McNally or Peters for that matter?
  19. No, I'm for getting a coach who can design a system to get the most out of the talent he has available to him.
  20. The players we had on the roster at the end of last season were not scouted to fit in this season. Most of those players are still on this team. Cop out! GMs should be cognizant and approve of what is being offered. From what has been reported, the Bills seem to be lowballing. I find it funny that people will diss Mularkey for being a bad coach with a bone headed scheme but then criticize the players who voiced their opinions on the bone headed schemes even when the team went on to play worse without those very players.
  21. I'll give him credit for being a better GM than you are a moderator.
  22. Well if Marv is wasting time reading this board and giving his opinion of my posts to you, that should really tell you how bad a GM he is.
  23. I'm more speaking of the defense. I think the talent on the defensive line isn't particularly good for this defense and I think our talent in the secondary is wasted in the cover 2.
  24. Extending someone who is already under contract is hardly a stroke of genius.
  25. So far I'm not impressed with anything Marv Levy has done as GM. He has hired a retread HC with a pedestrian record who seems married to a system regardless of the talent on the team. He has actually made the team weaker by cutting or trading fairly talented players (Moulds and Adams). He has overpaid for some free agents when there didn't appear to be much competition for their services. He got tunnel vision during the draft by fixating on Whitner and reaching to get him. On top of that, he has now has a contract hold out with the same player he reached for in the first place. Not a good start Marv.
