Packers fan fired from Chicago-area job
Scraps replied to \GoBillsInDallas/'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
For that dealership, the only opinion that matters is that of the Bears fans. -
I see Williams as 4-3 DT, not a 3-4 NT. The memories of the Giants clock eating drive in the Bills first SB appearance and the Jets clock eating drive against Indy a couple of weeks ago just keep going through my head.

When it comes to pizza, mom & pop. Buying from a mom & pop place doesn't guarantee good pizza but most chain store pizza sucks. I will admit however to liking pizza from Uno Chicago Grill. Even for other meals I will give a mom & pop place a chance over a chain.

On the big stage, Vince Young was far more impressive to me. -

That observation could be made about almost any position on the field. -
James Hardy signed to Ravens offseason roster

I don't think he is eligible to be on the practice squad. Wasn't he on the Bills active roster for 2 years? -
A good coach fits the scheme to the players. Doesn't say much about the Bills as they constantly change schemes regardless of the players they have. :wallbash:

Manning didn't have a core around him? Marshall Faulk, Marvin Harrison, Tarik Glenn, Adam Meadows, Ken Dilger aren't a core?

I'm not really disagreeing with what you said but it is in large part because of Myth 6 that I think the Bills should stick with a 4-3 defense. He is a player at tackle in a 4-3. In a 3-4 defense he is indeed the second coming of Jeff Wright.

How the heck does Modrak still have a job?

How do we know this? -
Not only can you not call consecutive time outs, the Bills had used their last time out. The only thing Poz could have done was tackle him and get called for holding.
-
Didn't the Bills call a time out before that play? Can't call 2 in a row.

OJ Simpson wasn't used properly when he first came into the the league either. Too early to say with Spiller as I think the FO and coaches are the real busts.

Bills situation beyond hope
Scraps replied to Another Point of View's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Gailey and Edwards are the smart guys? No, I am complaining that the FO didn't address the glaring problems at the QB position, the glaring problems at OT, weakened the receiving corps and put in a defense that our players were not suited to play. Probably should add the Redskins to the list as the have equaled last years win total and at worst are 1 game out of first place in their division under Allen and Shanahan. -
Ravens drafting vs. Bills drafting
Scraps replied to Chalkie Gerzowski's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My problem with the Mike Williams pick was that we needed a left tackle and Bryant McKinnie was the best left tackle available. In that sense, Williams was more of a "we're going to outsmart everyone" pick. -

Yes I have. The Bills have been rebuilding for 10 years junior. Good coaches will choose a system that fits their players. Good GMs will bring in players to play in the system. The coach and GM have failed on both counts, junior. The entire organization has not been changed. Ralph, Littman, Brandon, Overdorf and Modrak the Magnificent are still in place. Good coaches will choose a system that maximizes the talents of the players they have. They didn't have to do whole scale changes before acquiring players that could play in the system. -

Still not an excuse to actually make the team worse than it was. -

So why has the team actually gotten worse? What moves has the FO made that gives you any confidence in their judgement? WooHoo!!! We are only 5 years away from respectability, maybe! 2 1/2 more years with the current crop of idiots and another 3 years of rebuilding with the next group. -

I feel for people who keep buying into the 3 year rebuilding program after 3 year rebuilding program this organization sells. I didn't think much of the Nix hire and every move he has made since then has reinforced my skepticism about him. I wasn't one of those people. Why did these football geniuses switch to the 3-4 when they didn't have the personnel to run it? Why didn't they get the personnel to run the 3-4 before switching? In this day of free agency, it doesn't take as much time as you make it out to be. I thought we did bottom out. With free agency, why does the team have to get worse before it gets better? Which GMs historically have tanked a team before actually turning things around? What has Nix done since he became GM to give you any confidence that he knows what he is doing? -

Kelly had been drafted but defected to the USFL. The first thing Polian did while filling in for Terry Bledsoe was to sign Bruce Smith. After Polian was made GM he replace Hank Bullough, signed Jim Kelly and the team improved from 2-14 to 4-12. He was very active in trades to move in the draft and get the people he wanted and not reach for them. The team improved. It didn't get worse. Polian didn't have the luxury of free agency to turn things around. Buddy Nix has done nothing to instill any confidence. The defensive line has gotten worse. The offensive line sucked and still sucks. The receiving corps has gotten worse. He didn't address the QB position. He continues to make moves that reinforce the fact that he made some horrendous decisions as GM (hiring Gailey, switching to the 3-4, cutting the starting QB just weeks into the season, extending the contract for a lousy linebacker, Ellis's drop in the depth chart to being cut altogether). Many of us knew that Levy and Jauron sucked when they chose Whitner over Nagata, because in Jauron's defense you build from the strong safety out. You don't have to wait 3 years to realize the same about Nix and Gailey. They have made it abundantly clear and continue to do so every week. -
Buddy Nix came in with a bad front 7, bad offensive tackles and bad QBs. He didn't address any of these problems. There is no plan other that to sell fans on the fantasy that there is a plan.

The Hank Bullough era returns to Buffalo
Scraps replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Fine, have it your way. Does the sorry excuse for talent that we had for a defense work better in a 4-3 or a 3-4? The results speak for themselves. Gailey and Nix suck.
