  1. The BBC does not determine who wins the nomination. The delegates do that. Until the vote is taken, she is the presumptive nominee.
  2. Is the party saying that or are they saying she is the presumptive nominee?
  3. Nope. They tried to impeach him for engaging in extortion of another country and for Jan 6.
  4. Only one side tried to overturn a free and fair election by pressuring officials in 5 states to overturn the results, organizing fake electors and inciting an insurrection.
  5. For some reason, it is lost on some people that Harris is just the presumptive nominee. Anyone could challenge her. The only problem is anyone who was considered a serious contender actually endorsed her.
  6. Doesn't matter. How the parties choose their nominees is up to the parties.
  7. My standard is I will vote for the individual from either of the major parties who isn't a threat to our Republic.
  8. That is the end result he is defending.
  9. So the tyranny of the minority is better than the tyranny of the majority?
  10. The past week has seen an outpouring of hate from the far right over the wife of Republican vice presidential nominee J.D. Vance. The unremarkable fact that Vance is married to Usha Vance, a woman of Indian heritage, has become a fixation for white nationalists online. Following Monday’s announcement of Vance as Trump’s running mate, white nationalist “groyper” Nick Fuentes seemed to enter a meltdown on his broadcast, saying, “What kind of man marries somebody that isn’t a Christian? What kind of man marries somebody named Usha? Clearly, he doesn’t value his racial identity, his heritage. Clearly, he doesn’t value his religion. He doesn’t marry a woman that professes Jesus Christ? What does that say about him?” MAGA Enters Racist Meltdown Mode Over J.D. Vance’s Wife
  11. What does this have to do with this thread, "Saving Democracy"?
  12. JD Vance is a complete fraud. He wrote Hillbilly Ellegy as a memoir but he isn't from Appalachia. He sucked up the Peter Theil to run a venture capitalist firm, a common path of a Hillbilly. He started a non-profit to battle opioids but spent more on salary for his chief political advisor that battling opioid addiction. He was anti-Trump until he ran for senate and was mired in 4th place in the primary. He then sucked up to Trump figuring correctly that Magadonians can't think for themselves since they are a cult, ] And he read that right. As for what Harris might have said about Biden, who cares? Biden isn't running for office. Fixed that for ya.
  13. Didn't JD Vance, running mate of convicted felon, adjudicated sexual molester, adjudicated persistent fraudtster and obvious snake oil selling conman Donald Trump call Trump Hitler?
  14. The bill would not have given people crossing the border the right to stay in this country indefinitely. It would have increased the number of immigration judges and reduced the length of time these aliens were here.
  15. How the parties pick candidates is up the the parties. What the Democrat Party did is irrelevant to attempting to overturn a free and fair election as directed in the Constitution up to and including defending insurrectionists who set up a gallows on the Capitol grounds intent on hanging Mike Pence. There was no coup. President Biden is still the POTUS. Vance called Trump Hitler. Vance is the hypocrite.
  16. As Vice President Harris claims a huge surge in fundraising after President Biden’s stunning decision to step aside in the presidential race, Democrats are crowing about an unusual previous donor to her earlier campaigns: Donald Trump. Campaign finance records show that Trump — before he entered politics — donated $6,000 to Kamala D. Harris’s reelection campaigns while she was California attorney general. This included a $5,000 donation to Harris’s campaign in September 2011 and another $1,000 in February 2013, while his daughter Ivanka Trump gave Harris’s campaign $2,000 in 2014. https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2024/07/23/donald-trump-kamala-harris-donation/
  17. Well I live in the DC area and if you think everyone here hates him, you are insane. I've been involved in a number of arguments with Trump supporters and had and had a number of pro-trump neighbors trying to get me to vote for him.
  18. When you say "the event" you mean the Trump assassination attempt? If so, it would be incorrect to say I have "no concerns" over it. My concerns are more over the mistakes made that day by the Secret Service than a conspiracy to kill Trump by the Secret Service. I've explained a number of reasons why I find the conspiracy to be far fetched. I think it would involve far to many people and they would have recruited someone with the credibility to get the job done.
  19. The fact that you know about all those demonstrates that the FBI can't keep such things secret now, doesn't it? That last sentence is such gibberish I can't make sense of it.
  20. Do you know any FBI agents? I know a few and the all tend to be conservatives and Trump supporters. The idea that the FBI would be involved in a coverup over the assassination attempt on Trump is difficult for me to believe based on my experience with FBI agents. The idea of multiple members of Trump's Secret Service detail being traitors is far fetched to say the least. Congress will be engaged in significant oversight. I find it difficult to believe the results could be kept secret.
