The fastest way back to the playoffs
Casey D replied to Bronxbomber21's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sorry if I was not clear. My point is that finding a great NFL QB is not easy so if you are going to wait and find a franchise QB before you try and compete is not a satisfactory plan. Everyone can agree a great QB is really a huge help, but very few play the position well-- it's actually amazing how few given the population size. 20 or so starting QBs are B- quality and below, it's just a fact. And talent evaluators generally cannot forecast who will be a good QB, as you see so many high pick busts and the 10 or so elite ones often were not highly regarded at draft time, Brady, Brees, Rodgers, Prescott, etc. I believe the dearth of QB talent and the inability to identify good QBs is having a major negative impact on the popularity of the game, given how critical the position is to success. So the repeated mantra is we have no chance without a QB so why worry when you don't have one is not really meaningful because it is not like making a stop at the grocery store and picking one up. And my point about buying more lottery tickets is that the Bills need to take more swings at finding a good QB, because they are so hard to find you need to get lucky and you can't get lucky without taking more possible QBs. -
The fastest way back to the playoffs

There are roughly 10 people who can play QB at a high level on a planet with a population over 7 billion. Keep buying those lotto tickets, because those are the odds. In the meantime, you need a Plan B while you wait for your ticket to be punched. Problem with the Bills, they have not bought enough tickets over the year. They buy one once in a while and think they've got it. The have not. -
AP John Wawrow interview with Terry Pegula
Casey D replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agree. It is hard to get any facts from the BN because of its crusade against the Pegulas. While it is clear that the Pegulas and Whaley-- who is not a public speaker-- have handled this badly from a PR perspective, there really is not much of a story here. The facts as distilled from Wawrow and Whaley's news conference are as follows: The Pegulas believe the defense on this team is a disaster, which is terribly disappointing as they hired Rex believing him to be a defensive coach stud who could take the 2014 defense to new levels. Terry believes TT is an OK QB--he'd like better but knows we could do worse--but it is hard to judge him fairly when the defense is a sieve. There were discussions for a while about Rex being fired given the foregoing problems--including Whaley. His job status was TBD after year end, and there was a good chance he would be fired. Last Tuesday, however, Rex forced the issue with Pegula after Rex asked Whaley to drop off the line. Given the situation, Terry said look Rex you might well be fired, yadda yadda yadda, Terry did not want to mislead Rex so he let him go. Walking out the door, Terry says what do we do about Sunday against the Jets, Rex says "I don't give an eff, Lynn is the only guy left in the building use him, I'm going to watch the Clemson game." Whaley is somewhat surprised because there was supposed to be an e v a l on coaching at year end, but Terry fired Rex early. Shock to Whaley, no. But did not do planned e v a l. His explanation in PC is lame because he can't speak well. Pegulas like Whaley, as even though he is a terrible PR guy, they think he knows football and are giving him the keys to the car on a coach. Decision on TT will be based on new coach and what options they have-- not deciding now. Now all that may be dysfunction and I don't agree with Pegula on some things, but that is what happened. The BN hyperventilating shows what a dysfunctional news paper it is. Kudos to Mr. Wawrow for giving us some facts!!! Casey -
No worries. It's just nice to have our suffering recognized. Badge of honor for the fan base given its loyalty.

We top the list of 40 major league cities at USA Today. Can't seem to link the story.

Actually, I think it is a compliment. I think when you fall down/fall, if you get sand in your pants it means you whine and complain about your misfortune--sand gets in your pants lying on the ground moaning and complaining. Lacking sand in your pants therefore means the guy is tough, and gets up and fights back under duress. But that's just a guess/

McCoy's nightclub fight and the ongoing investigation

It's proof. The question is whether it is compelling/convincing proof, or something on which the jury calls BS. -
McCoy's nightclub fight and the ongoing investigation
Casey D replied to lowghen's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes. Any witness testimony is evidence/proof. Jury takes all the evidence and decides what it thinks happened, and applying those facts reaches a verdict based on the law. If the two off duty policemen testify that basically they were assaulted without provocation, that is sufficient evidence to convict if the jury believes them (beyond a reasonable doubt of course, which is a high standard). You don't need videotape or corroboration to convict, although if I was prosecuting the case it would be nice to have. Of course if McCoy et al. testify that the cops spit in their face and that provoked what happened, that is evidence too. The jury decides what is true and not true. At this point, there is very little here to illuminate who was at fault or what happened. It is all conjecture. I mean the cops have incentives to lie, e.g. not getting fired. -
It's a shame too as he was good and seems like a good guy.

Looks like Bucky and Sully are doubling down this morning that Pegula gave the ultimatum and is negotiating an extension at the same time. They say they believe what Carucci reported, so it must be true. Pure genius! They must think people in Buffalo are really stupid. I mean these guys are truly amateurs on damage control, besides being journalists with training wheels.
-
It was done quite professionally. But "reading between the lines" as Sully says when he makes stuff up, the restraint was plainly out of professional courtesy.
-
Thanks for doing that.
-
Articles today by Roth and Maiorana basically calling BS on the Sully, Bucky and Carucci tabloid reporting. Nothing better than a good old media cat fight.

Yeah, like he covered for Brady on deflategate? Hoodie now a noble got your back kind of guy? Maybe he likes Slater more than Tommy boy.
-
Apparently it is not nonsense.
-
Hoodie has confirmed that he wanted to kick off.
-
Bad karma I guess.
-
Won the OT toss and elected to kick off. Jets take ball, score 6 and win. He should have cheated.
-
Fyi.. I think you mean couldn't care less. If you could care less, it means you did care about the game to some degree, which is not what you probably meant to say.

Colts won

Other than the Colts winning and KC leading, yes...
