Good stuff. I agree. As fans I think all you can ask is that the GM be aggressive and get a player they wanted. In terms of the player himself, there are only about 10-12 guys on the planet of over 7 billion that can play QB at a high level in the NFL. The best scouts and GMs are at best taking an educated guess on who those people are. Lay folks are largely just taking guesses based on little. If people knew with a high degree of certainty who will be good and bad at QB, they could make a fortune. Allen seems to have everything needed too be good, physical talent and brains. It's no guarantee, but it's about the best predictors you have. And Beane and McDermott seem to know what they are doing, so I am going to be hopeful

He's only 29. Quality character. He's shown he can play with the right offense. And we can use all our other picks, 6 in the first 100, to fill numerous holes. Unless they are sure there is "the guy" in order to mortgage the future by giving away a handful of draft picks, Foles is an upgrade over Tyrod without costing a fortune in $$$ or draft picks. Don't even have to extend him yet. If Tyrod is worth a high 3rd, Foles is easily worth a low 2nd.

Yep. And they like their 3rd QB. Wentz might miss a game or two at most. If Philly can get a 2nd and a third for Foles, it would be a steal for them.

But Philly is in cap hell and has few draft picks. True they might get sentimental, but Foles' value is as high now as it ever will be. Smart management would move him.

To elaborate a bit more, the Bills were absolutely dreadful for that three game stretch with the Jets, NO and Chargers. -80 in three games. Before those three games 5-2, after 4-2 and overall + 23, with both second half losses to NE. I don't know why they were so bad for those three games, but it skews all the statistical analysis. Run a +23 over 13 games and I'll bet 9-4 is not so outlandish. The two losses to NE were -41. So 9-2 with a +64 in 11 games. Basically for all but those three horrid games, the Bills played consistently well, and won close games. Their season was similar to KC, who was 5-0, 1-6, and 4-0. Why, who knows. Unless the team from those three horrid games shows up, they will give Jax a good game.

That's not really right. The only way the Chargers have a tiebreaker over the Bills is if they are the only two teams at 9-7 for the second wild card spot. If a third team is involved, the Bills will have the tiebreaker based on better conference record. Similar situation with KC, but in reverse. We win the head to head if we and KC are alone at 9-7. But add in a third team and the tiebreaker may become strength of victory as conference records would be the same, and KC beats us at that. So it's really hard to know how you want this game to shake out if you are a Bills fan. But right now it seems like if 9-7 gets the second wild card, it will be a three team deal. Oh, and the game between KC and LAC is Saturday night, not Sunday.

The tiebreaker with the Ravens is not clear yet. If the Bills win 3, then the Ravens must lose 2 and both are 9-7. Both would have 7-5 conference records, the first relevant tiebreaker. Next is record in games against common opponent-- minimum of 4 common opponents. Here that is met, as both teams will play the Bengals dolphins Raiders and Colts. Buffalo is 1-1 in those games now, while Ravens are 3-0. Assuming the Bills lose to NE, they would end up 4-1 against the common opponents. Ravens still have Colts and Bengals. If one of the losses is to these teams-- other opponents are Pitt and Cleveland-- they end up at 4-1 as well. Then it goes to strength of victories and then strength of schedule, and I have no idea how that works out. Now if there is a three way tie, you do the same exercise but with the three teams. Again, it all depends yet on tiebreakers. But Ravens must lose two if Buffalo goes 3-1 to get to tiebreakers.

I'm a Tyrod fan. Works so hard, classic overachiever. Great leader. Teammates love him. Is he a great QB, no. But there are lots of guys with more talent doing much less. Does not mean we should not strive to find better. But your odds of finding worse are much higher. On a planet of 7 1/2 billion people, only about 5 men play QB in the NFL at a high level, and another 8 or so that are pretty good. Everyone else is roughly Tyrod or less. That is what is killing the NFL in a game where QB is everything most of the time.

I do not find your argument persuasive. It is the equivalent of someone saying all Republicans are racists. Some are, but that does not mean it is the core belief of the party. BLM is looking for justice for African Americans in how they are treated by police compared to white people. Showing me an extremist hot head does not prove your point that BLM is just a slimy cause against white people, any more than Charlottesville shows all Republicans are white supremacists. BLM has a point. It flows from a history of slavery to Jim Crow and on-going racism in America. Do I agree with every, or even most of what they do, no. But they have a valid point of view if you examine all sorts of statistics on police behavior. The fact that NFL players have the stature to draw attention to this matter does not make them hypocrites, they are using their status to make a point to help less fortunate people who are largely powerless in our system. I know we will never agree on this, but I promise I don't think you are a racist just because we disagree.
