  1. So Justin Smith faces more double teams than Jared Allen, and Allen isn't good.... yeah.... I'm done with this thread, you are laughable.
  2. First, where are you getting "10-12 picks before he should be picked" from? An "expert"? Who? Second, don't you wish teams could just "trade back in" every time they wanted to? It would be nice, wouldn't it? If the Bills feel that one of the receivers is a head above the rest, draft him at #11 and get your man. Don't try and play russian roulette with getting extra draft picks and hoping he is there, or listen to the "critics" and "experts" tell you that your draft was stupid, because that's all they've done to us the past few years and were dead wrong. Get your man.
  3. And you don't think Jared Allen faced double teams? The Chiefs have nobody on their line to take the pressure of Allen, and he still led the NFL in sacks. I don't agree with you that Smith would have been a better option, but I do agree it was a stupid trade by the Vikes. They gave up WAY too much.
  4. I think Albert is the best O-Lineman in this draft. Yes, better than Jake Long even. Long excels in the run game, but really has trouble pass protecting. Albert reminds me exactly of Peters. He is just so athletic. What about Albert at RT and Walker at RG? I think the athletic Albert would be better out on an island in pass protection, and Walker as a road grader.
  5. Many feel as you do, that he will be a monster defensive player, and I really don't think he'll get past New England, Cincy, or the Saints.
  6. Don't we already have our 4th DT rotation guy? We've got Stroud, McCargo, Williams and Johnson.
  7. I agree, but there's a big "if." How do you know he will be available when you pick after the trade down? If I'm a GM, and I have my guy locked in as the right fit for the team, I wouldn't take the chance of having him not be there. Whoever we want, if there is a specific player, we should just pick him where we are. I think if there isn't a defined guy, then trade down, but if he you believe he is that big of a player, just draft him.
  8. If you think he's "exactly what we need at the WR position" and he's a "touchdown machine" then why wouldn't you pick him at 11? Because someone told you that was too high?
  9. I'd want him over any receiver in this draft, and if we have to pick him at 11 to secure him, I wouldn't be upset.
  10. I would love Groves, I think he's the best pass rusher in this draft.
  11. I agree. I think it would be more interesting to see the QB pressure stats, because maybe those teams don't have many sacks but are putting pressure on the QB? Who knows.
  12. The top 5 teams in pass defense last year were as ranked: 1.) Tampa Bay 2.) Indianapolis 3.) Pittsburgh 4.) Miami 5.) Kansas City The bottom 5 teams, or worst 5, were: 28.) Arizona 29.) Buffalo 30.) New Orleans 31.) Detroit 32.) Minnesota We obviously need to improve our pass defense, and I think I heard we dropped from #7 to last year's #29 in just one year (someone can check that, I'm not sure). There are many reasons for this, some say it was a lack of a pass rush, some say our corners need work after losing Clements. This, of course, affects what we do in the draft, particularly with our first pick. It's no secret that the fan base on this board is split over whether or not to select a corner or improve in the trenches with a defensive end. I wanted to see the sack ratio of the teams with the top pass defense and compare the numbers to the bottom 5. I was almost positive the top 5 were also tops in sacks, but was surprised at the statistics. The bottom 5 teams I mentioned above, actually had more sacks than the top 5 teams. Top 5: Tampa Bay (33 sacks), Indy (28 sacks), Pitt (36 sacks), (Miami (30 sacks) and KC with 37 sacks. The bottom 5 in pass defense were: Arizona (36 sacks), Buffalo (26 sacks), N.O. (32 sacks), Detroit (37 sacks), and Minnesota with 38 sacks. That is 164 sacks for the top 5 teams in pass defense, and 169 for the bottom 5 teams. Interesting. Kind of surprised me. Also, the Giants, who had the most sacks in the NFL last year (53) weren't even in the top 10 in pass defense. That was also interesting to me. I think we need to improve both our pass rush and our corners, but what do you think of this?
  13. CB MIKE JENKINS HASN'T BEEN PICKED YET!!!!!!!!!!!
  14. Okay... the reasoning behind my original post was... I know that you feel we don't need great corners, or to use picks on such, because of our defensive scheme. It has been argued by me, that we only use that scheme as our base defense, and our corners are still required to cover man to man in certain situations. Now, neither of us know what the Bills defensive system is, and what we call, so all I was saying originally was that if we do pick a corner 1st round, trust the Bills because they know our system, and they know what is required of the players. If we picked a corner, and you started saying how ridiculous that was because of our system, it wouldnt make sense because nobody knows, but the coaches, what we have and what we will be doing this year, so have a little faith. If we didn't really need a great cover corner for our defense, do you honestly think the Bills would pick one? I don't.
  15. That's great. Tim Tebow, Matt Ryan and Mendenhall twice, Emmitt's son, and Chris Leak
  16. Actually, I agree with you. Where we differ in opinion is the use of a corner in our defensive system, not your ideas stated above. Numbers 1 and 2 of your reasoning depends upon a good/great WR being available when we pick at 11. I think the majority of people on this board would first like to see the WR position addressed, as you would, but since most feel there is no WR worthy of the eleventh pick, they move their choice to another position, and that is where the idea of drafting a corner comes into play. I also think a WR is much more of a priority than drafting a corner. Hell, I also think TE is more of a priority as well, the problem is who and what is available at our pick. I think we first should try and trade down, so we can pick a WR. If that doesn't happen, we might have to go corner. I also agree with you that DRC will not make a significant impact this year. He is a very, very talented player, but he needs work. I don't see that as a problem, however, because I think we have 3 pretty good corners in front if him in McGee, Greer, and James. Having DRC see some limited action starting off as the 4th corner, and then as the season wears on, work his way up, is not a bad thing. I definitely see that as being a luxery pick, and would much rather trade down for a WR, but if that can't happen, a corner is a possibility. I think eventually, DRC could become a dominant player, even if its not in the first half of this season.
  17. I like Pyrite Gal, one of the only posters on this board who puts thought and effort into their posts. The reason why I said Pyrite Gal and not Bill, is because, while both don't advocate picking a corner high, they have a difference in their reasoning. Bill feels that drafting positions such as a DB, high, is not the way to go, and feels that top picks should be used on front seven picks, or lineman on either side of the ball. Pyrite Gal talks more knowledge of our defensive scheme when talking about why we shouldn't pick a corner. I disagree with Pyrite Gal because he/she discusses our system, what we play and when we play it, which IMO is completely wrong. I wasn't picking on anyone, just wanted to post an idea I though Pyrite Gal should see, and I'm sorry if it seemed like I was calling someone out, I didn't intend for a bashing.
  18. I honestly think Mayo will be picked in the top 20, with how fast he is rising. And that's good news on Keller, maybe we can get a steal in the 3rd round.
  19. I don't see why this question matters, since its not about how many draftees start opening day, its about what they eventually turn into, but I'll answer anyway. I don't see a corner starting, even if we draft one in the 1st round, and even if you consider the nickel corner a starting position. Remember, this is opening day. I think James is the starting nickel corner, with the draft pick being slowly worked in. Think of Clements, Revis, Ross with the Giants. I'm unsure about WR also. I think the same might apply here, maybe not. Remember, we're talking about starting opening day, not who takes the majority of snaps. The 2 possibilities for opening day starters I see, are at FB and possibly TE. If we draft a guy like Schmitt or Hillis, I think they start, if we don't, look for it to be Barnes. Originally, I thought the coaches like Royal enough to start him opening day, even if he eventually loses his job to a rookie, but then I thought of all the mini camps, training camps, and preaseson games... and that is just way too long for Royal not to f*ck up.
  20. Gosselin always has the most accurate mocks, but this one is horrid. Jamaal Charles 20th overall?? The Steelers drafting another LB in the 1st round when they drafted Timmons last year?? San Diego drafting a 1st round RB?? Those picks are terrible.
