Rapp and Edwards will be our starters this year with Lewis and a drafted safety as our backups. I highly doubt we’re adding another guy in FA.

Cooks is still there albeit 30. They have Lamb and Cooks but they also let Tyron Smith go, lost Center Tyler Biadisz, Zach Martin is 33. They have 2 about to be 3 gaping holes in that offensive line

I don’t think the Cowboys go WR in round 1. They need to rebuild that offensive line and there are going to be some really good Oline prospects in that spot in round 1

Jeremiah has us taking a DT at 28 in his latest mock

Nothing truer has been spoken on this board. If it’s not a WR or a big one or the fastest guy they’ll B word. The outrage of the Kincaid pick was laughable last year -
He’s not either imo but he’s a high 2nd rounder imo

I think Coleman fits their type of player and wouldn’t surprise me if they take him in round 2 with a trade down or trade up. Norvell , who is big on culture, loved the guy. Great kid, supposedly a leader on the team, is a willing blocker. He needs to be better on contested passes but for some reason FSU didn’t highlight his whole route tree as FSU didn’t thrown between the hashes a ton

I always love this banter. If he is as good as you are saying then why would he make it to 28. Big fast athletic contested catch WRs at 6’2 don’t make it to the end of round 1. He also dogs his routes, doesn’t separate despite his unreal athleticism and offers mimimal YAC potential

So tell me who those guys are at 28 you would be okay with at WR? I want more than Thomas, Legette, and Mitchell which always seems to be the only 3 I hear. -

Exactly the only people who aren’t reciprocating are the WR at 28 or bust people. This team has many other needs. Our defense just got gutted in FA. I’m not even against WR at 28. I’m against the people who tell me if has to be 1 of like 4 guys or I’ll still be upset. People setting themselves up for high amounts of disappointment There are guys like McConkey or Wilson, or Malachi Corley that will get bashed relentlessly here if they get taken because they’re not big. I totally get that Diggs is old and Gabe Davis just left but they also did just take Kincaid last year to be a top receiving option. They will take a guy early I have little doubt about that but it’s very possible it’s not at 28 -

How is drafting a big X not a full an immediate need position. Again, I asked why McConkey would be a bad pick and the vast majority called him a slot when he’s an ideal replacement for Diggs in the future. Taking a DT isn’t just filling ms immediate need. We have 2 guys in the roster one of which tore his pec and is 33 years old and is likely here for 1 year before he’s cut. Take Chop Robinson is not an immediate need as we now have 5 DEs with game experience. Yea DeJean is one of those guys and he’s maybe by a round better than any other Safety on the board. You’re right there sounds like nothing more gameplan than I like 3 players and if I don’t get them then idk what to do. Do you think Brandon Beane is sitting there with his big board and telling everyone yup we’re only looking at WR here at 28. I don’t want a tackle because I think we have an in-house option in RVD who played really well last year when called upon. -

Sounds to me there should be more of a Cooper DeJean crowd around here with this line of thinking. What percentage of this board do you think would be okay with DeJean even though he’d be a 100% starter at Safety day 1? -

There is nothing more straw man than I like 3 players. It’s not about WR it’s about if they go WR and it’s not a specific player they will still be upset. I posed this question weeks ago and said if they take McConkey and while you said you’d be okay there were many others who said they wouldn’t be accepting of that. If the Bills take WR I get it, if they take Chop Robinson I get it, if they take Jerzahn Newton or Cooper DeJean I get it. Even if they took Jackson Powers Johnson it makes sense. If they take Brock Bowers or a Tackle or a Nickle Corner I might be more upset. -

You don’t find it slightly dumb to go into a draft with only liking 3 guys for a late first round pick 2 of which have an incredibly low percentage of happening. I just think the common fan is a fool for not looking at the totality of the roster and understanding that yea DT is a possibility and a huge need and is a very possible pick at 28. Newton is a good player and Jeremiah is one of the best in the business -

This is why most fans can’t be taken seriously because they get on one track minds have their favorites are told by media when a guy is going to go then act crazy when we don’t take their guy only to watch him drop another full round. Just like this thread it makes a lot of sense to take Newton if he falls to the Bills but 90% of people want a WR but not only a WR but one that fits a very specific criteria at 28. If they take a guy like McConkey or Roman Wilson this place will still go apeshit. It has to be Brian Thomas or Mitchell or Legette. Thomas will be gone and Legette isn’t going in round 1. So basically that leaves Mitchell one player they lost fans will be happy with. There was a small percentage of people hyping up Dalton Kincaid last year and it was met with this same resistance about WR. I’m sure the vast majority of that 90% is thrilled we have Kincaid now but some will still B word because it could have been Sam LaPorta -

The argument I would make is teams are going to reach for guys like Jenkins/Fiske and the two Robinsons because they’re the last “difference maker” guys on the DLine. Chop is going in the 20s, Darius is going in the 30s imo and Jenkins and Fiske will be gone before pick 50 -

Well I already had this argument today and Jeremiah is on the same thought I have is. DT is a huge need and it drops off big time from end of round 1 to end of round 2 much more than it would for a WR. If you want to take WR, drop down 10 spots you’re going to get the same guy allowing you to trade up for a DT in round 2. -

I didn’t say Samuel was but they put an investment in the position that they could have put into DT/DE or S and they didn’t unless you include the re-signings. WR play is also highly contingent on QB play. If you have a crap QB you’re probably not sniffing 1,000 yards unless you’re a long established # 1 guy who gets fed the ball. I would venture to guess out of the 27 guys you speak of the vast majority of them either have a an average to Superstar QB or were the only real weapon on their team and had to get the ball quite a bit -
Roman Wilson isn’t talked about enough here as a possibility if they got WR in round 1

Im not talking myself into anything. I follow the draft and watch film just as much if not more than you do. I was in the WR train but they put our very little FA dollars into a WR making it highly likely they go in another direction in round 1. If they take a WR in round 1 that’s fine but to me the tea leaves would indicate they’re going to wait a round. This combined with the fact that the top 2 DTs are going to go around where the Bills pick makes me think it’s a strong possibility looking at our depth chart. If people can’t see that as a strong possibility and just tell me WR or bust than there is no point in this conversation Be the same players they are now. If that’s the case then why hasn’t the Titans DEs had a lot of success with Jeffrey Simmons who is the most comparable guy to Jones? Guys still have to have to be talent to win 1 on 1 even with a high end DT getting doubled -

Ugh no they don’t they have George Karlaftis who had 10.5 sacks last year in his 2nd season. -

We don’t have a 3rd as it sits right now and again the DT class isn’t good you wait till round 5 your not getting a guy who can contribute in round 1. I can have Diggs, Samuel, Kincaid, Knox, Shakir as my main pass catchers get a guy like Javon Baker at 60 and still get my Diggs replacement. Then I can take another guy in round 4 to play X I can get Newton in round 1 Baker in round 2 A safety in 4 and another WR who can play X with the other 4th and get all quality players there -

I’m not sensitive. It’s not stockpiling talent on defense. They literally have no one NFL quality behind their starters at DT People have made the case for DE before DT to me as well but at least we have 4 DEs on the roster with NFL game experience in Groot, Epenesa, Miller, and Kingsley -

The guy taken in round 2. If 33 year old Jones gets hurt again who’s playing? Literally no one right now. Eli Ankou who they’ve cut 7 times already ? The value at DT drops much quicker than at WR -

This is why I keep saying DT is a huge need. Yes we have the starters but there is nothing behind them. The value at 28 seems to be trending towards matching with the Bills as well. Very possible one of Murphy and Newton are there or a trade down to take someone like Fiske. I know everyone loves the WR first round train but it’s not a necessity anymore with the Samuel signing. We can get one at the end of round 2
