Jags release Christian Kirk, seems like a Billsy move
gonzo1105 replied to Roundybout's topic in The Stadium Wall
He’s a downfield threat. I don’t get so caught up with the boundary/ slot thing. Just find good players. The Bills can do a lot worse than Kirk- 107 replies

Thoughts about older draft eligible players?
gonzo1105 replied to OldTimer1960's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yes and No. Covid and new NCAA rules have affected the pool. You’ll see more and more guys staying because they can guarantee themselves cash before the NFL or before they have to go into a non football career. Id prefer the younger prospect with upside for sure but you’ll get quicker to contribute NFL guys in year 1 that can be role players in the mid rounds if you chose the right guys -
He needs to actually do something for himself. Sticking with Derek Carr and a declining Aaron Rodgers is doing nothing but hurting his career

I am now of the belief that the Bears might lean Ashton Jeanty at 10 after filling most of their Oline needs here via trade
-
Asset allocation. They are trying to keep Trey Smith but that would be a ton of money invested in an OL and Smith is a pro bowler in his own right who’s much younger

Players the Bills have met with at Combine
gonzo1105 replied to gonzo1105's topic in The Stadium Wall
I like the way he plays but i'm a big traits guy and I can't get behind a pass rusher in a 4-3 being 6'1 and 249 pounds with under 32 inch arms. He'd have to be a flawless technician to be successful in the NFL. Solomon was about the same size with almost 34 inch arms and with the depth in this draft at DL he will probably be available in round 4 or possibly even 5. -
NFL Combine Thread: 1 (PK, DL & LB's)

When it comes to the DEs I think you you see a lot of guys who have all the traits to be double sack guys but for one reason or another it never showed up. I think with Stewart you have to look at the tape. On paper the numbers are yikes but the athletic traits are man what happened there. Stewart was a game wrecker with pressures just for one reason or another didn’t get the actual sacks but you can see it on the tape with him. Mykel Williams I’m less high on I see what you see a plus run defender who is going to have to rely solely on power to get sacks unless he develops a pass rush repertoire Scourton I think can be like a George Karlaftis type. For whatever reason he gained a ton of weight this year and you can tell it affected his pass rush. Go back to the Purdue tape when he was lighter and it’s like watching a different player. The rest of the guys you listed you are correct on besides Burch. Burch is an athletic freak that didn’t put it together till he got to Oregon and he got a lot of clean up sacks. He has a ton of upside though and he’s the guy I’d take out of that group you mentioned. I really like Bradyn Swinson out of LSU. You can see the natural pass rush on tape, he had natural bend in the hoop drill but he’s a one year wonder risk as well but at least you can see a guy who could become like a Leonard Floyd type in the NFL which would be a hell of a pick for the end of round 2 if he reaches that ceiling -

Minnesota is going to have the 97th pick or around it for losing Kirk Cousins -

I totally understand what your saying and I’m in the same camp I’m just saying if Beane is going to do it like he has shown in the past I think that’s his preferred way versus giving up both 4ths -
Gonzo Mock Draft Version 2.0 After Combine( Starts on Page 5)
gonzo1105 replied to gonzo1105's topic in The Stadium Wall
Well most of it is need for each team but I did have Jordan Burch at 62 in my version 1 mock and do feel he is in play for the Bills selection there. I think based on what Beane has said is they want to be bigger and more physical on the defensive line and Burch at 279 pounds + would fit that Bill. Beane has also said he was looking for speed the last couple of years and he didn't. The reason I chose Swinson over Burch is that Swinson I believe will provide more pass rushing upside while Burch will provide better run defense at this stage but both players can develop. I think Swinson absolutely aced his agility testing which confirmed his ability to bend which showed nicely on tape as well. Burch and Swinson are kind of the same guy. Guys who underachieved until their last season. The Porter pick fits a need for GB and his testing numbers at the combine combined with his physical attributes make him an intriguing prospect but once again he is a one year wonder as well so whoever takes a shot on Porter is taking a chance. I think the Bills would consider him at 56 if he were there but I don't believe they would be willing to trade up for him as a prospect with another CB(Revel) similar in physical attributes and has more game tape. If it wasn't for Revel's knee he wouldn't even have the possibility of going to 56 and still might not. Alfred Collins is another guy who could go much earlier than where he was taken at 61 and if he were available at 56 and the Bills didn't get Kenneth Grant in the first round would be highly under consideration but taking two 1T DT's back to back in the first and 2nd round isn't very good asset allocation. I'm also not as high on Collins as others are. I think he's a good prospect but I don't see a dominant player on tape and I think his combine was fair but not spectacular As for Nolan I have kind of explained this already a bit. First he's not what the Bills are looking for if they are truly trying to get bigger. He's 293 pounds and put together one good year of tape plus he has character concerns which the Bills always take into consideration. He would probably go onto Philly and be a dominant player haha but its not how the Bills role. If Grant was off the board, do I think the Bills would consider Nolan, Yea I do but I don't think it would be a lock they would take him regardless. -

Now I’m just completely spitballing here but I could see the Bills doing a deal with Minnesota where the Bills move up to 24 give them back 56 but get back their 3rd rounder 97. The value chart almost matches up. Beane gets back into the 3rd round, doesn’t lose a pick and gets the player he wants at 24 if available -

I think the 4th or 5th round is a strong possibility for drafting one due to uncertainty for sure. Plus it’s likely when you get down the board one will be BPA -

Just because you would be the best at your position in a certain class doesn’t make you a can’t miss prospect. This class is very weak at the top of the draft. -

No he isn’t. Someone else tried to compare another prospect to Garrett and it’s laughable First Carter weighed in at 250 pounds Garrett weighed in at 272. He’s also a 1 1/2 shorter Garrett had 33 reps on the bench which would have cleared the top guy this year by 4 reps. Garrett’s 3 years at A@M he had 11.5, 12.5 and 8.5 sacks with 49 TFLs and 7 FF. I get that he had one year at DE and had 12 sacks but if he was that great they would have moved him over Adissa Issac at DE who was a solid but unspectacular NFL prospect -

I could see it. I’d like Phillips to develop more than a bull rush as a pass rusher. It seems to be his go to and when he gets stoned with it he has nothing to counter. -

I think Ward has always been the clear # 1 QB in this class and people are just catching up. Missing out on Carter and/or Hunter would hurt but neither of these guys are elite can’t miss prospects like a Myles Garrett coming out. Plus the Titans have so many need that them dropping to 6 or 7 and selecting a guy won’t hurt in this draft as much as long as they get the proper draft capital in this and next years draft. This will allow them to either trade up for the QB they want next year or if they are still # 1 pick bad allow them to build around a guy like Arch Manning It’s really Carter, Hunter, Graham and then a mass of similarly graded guys behind them. -

He does lack bend on tape. That’s why his testing makes him a polarizing guy. Is he the athlete on tape or the guy you saw at the combine. Either way he helped himself big time where scouts will be going back to watch more on him -

Yea I’ll be surprised if Dart goes before Sanders. Could I see Sanders slipping sure but it’s also misinformation time and can’t believe everything you hear with a ton of needy QB teams down the board -
I have been beating the drum for Paulson Adebo and Jason Pinnock as secondary additions. Don’t think we pursue any of those options at WR. I think guys like Atwell, Nick Westbrook Ikinhe are possibilities

Gonzo Mock Draft Version 2.0 After Combine( Starts on Page 5)
gonzo1105 replied to gonzo1105's topic in The Stadium Wall
I agree I think their goal is to make the D line like their o line has become. The Bills had a finesse Oline and they transitioned to a physical front. I see them doing the same here on defense. Whether that means Grant, bigger ends , a trade who knows but I do suspect that to be true particularly for DLine -

Jets planning to either trade or release Devante Adams
gonzo1105 replied to UKBillFan's topic in The Stadium Wall
It’s not always about getting the best of everything you can get. The Bills only have so many valuable assets to give. Sure they can grab Metcalf and give up a pick or two and that’d be great but that also probably takes them out of the DE trade market while Adams will come free from an asset standpoint besides salary
