  1. If both Lee and Perry were available when the Bills pick in the 2nd round, I would have to go with Lee just as BPA. He's a 1st round talent. Like you said, he's the modern NFL OLB. But I don't think I would take him at 19. I feel like we need a more immediate starter in our defense. I actually think he could have used another year in college. He is very similar to Shazier, but more raw in technique. Shazier actually was even skinnier than Lee in college. He put on 15 between his junior season and the combine. Still fast and looks like he's been shot out of a cannon. I could see Lee turning into Shazier. Maybe I'm wrong and he will be a stud right out of the gate. IMO Lee is a faster, better version of Rookie Kiko. Without the off-field.

I think Josh Perry fits this D like a glove at LB. He is so smart and athletic and a leader. Can play inside or outside, cover, and even rush the passer. Jmo of course but he will be an under the radar great pick for some team.

Intersting thought on Preston to Eagles. I could see that. He just needs to be somewhere other than MLB. I don't think he's a bad player or that he can't play in this scheme. But Rex's MLB position is over his head. At this time.

I think Lee is one of the best players in this draft. You guys are pigeon holing yourselves by saying we need that big traditional MLB like Ragland or the big edge rusher like Jaylon Smith. If Lee is Ryan Shazier then he is one of the best 10 players in this draft. Having a 3 down LB who can cover WR's/TE's/RB's and be able to blitz like he does is not something you should overlook. I think the Bills realistically should take a long hard look at him at 19. I actually would think that you could use Darron Lee as a hybrid LB/S like Troy Polamalu or Kam Chancellor were used in their careers.

  2. The more I watch of Kevin Dodd DE Clemson, the more I like him. He is a headsy player who has great play recognition. He does a pretty good job of setting the edge in the run game and he is pretty explosive getting after the passer. He also has incredibly long arms and has experience with his hand in the dirt and standing up. His downsides are he only has one year of PT at the college level and doesn't have much experience dropping into coverage. Kind of reminds me of Terrell Suggs

  3. The FCS/FBS thing is crap. There are good QBs in the FCS level. Tony Romo from Eastern Illinois, Kurt Warner from Northern Iowa, Joe Flacco from Delaware, Chad Pennington at Marshall when they were D1AA, Steve McNair at Alcorn State, Rich Gannon from Delaware. I won't add Fitz from Harvard but he is a starting QB in the NFL. Jake Delhomme was from a small school as well.

  4. I actually want the Bills to draft a NT. He hasn't declared yet and he might not be available when the Bills pick but I really would like them to take A'Shawn Robinson DT from Alabama. This would allow Dareus to move to the 5 Tech position and would increase our ability to stop the run. A lot of the Alabama players make a ton of sense for the Bills this year. ILB Reggie Ragland, DT A' Shawn Robinson, DE Jarron Reed, DE Johnathan Allen

  5. I was at today's practice and I thought Cassel had the best day. He went through his progressions and had nice touch on the short and intermediate routes(which this offense needs to convert. Nothing spectacular but looked like he was the veteran who knew when to take chances and when not to.

I thought Tyrod looked average today. He was inaccurate at times but also hits big plays. He threw a post route to Goodwin right in stride for a 50 yard TD. It was the play of the day by far. Not sure if it would have gotten off in a game situation as a couple of defenders closed in on him.

Onto EJ. I thought he was the worst of the 3 today. He had a fumble in the zone read installation. He makes the right reads but his inconsistencies kill him. He drove a 25 yard post right into the back of the end zone to Sammy Watkins with Ronald Darby draped all over him. The very next play they ran a play action bootleg and Bryce Brown was wide open four yards down the field. He overthrew Brown by 3 yards. It literally was shake your head worthy. Like how could this guy go from drilling a pinpoint pass to not being able to hit the broadside of a barn. Unfortunately this has not improved ever since his FSU days

  6. to me it looks exactly like the good old wing-t power series sweep. all down with backside-g pull. and btw, i don´t think it´s just gore picking the wrong hole. it´s more like the pulling G failed to kick the LB out.

That is exactly what it is. Its not even really a "zone blocking scheme". Its exactly like the old Wing T. If the D-End crosses the TE's face he goes with him and take him. The pulling Guard then goes on the LB. If the D-End goes outside the TE blocks down on the backer and the pulling guard takes the D-End. Its down down down kick out. Its not even a sweep. Its more a counter or basic power play depending on what a team's terminology is.
