  1. Poyer wasn’t a good player. He was an injured backup. Hyde was a good player but he was a jack of all trades player in Green Bay that learned the safety craft here. Dane Jackson 7th round pick/ starter Christian Benford 6th Round pick / starter Taron Johnson 4th round pick (all pro) Tre White (pro bowler, all pro) Ja’Marcus Ingram (undrafted) Cam Lewis (undrafted) Levi Wallace (undrafted)/ starter Well the good news is even if all of this about Cine is true he currently is Safety # 7 on the roster and we’re not exactly relying upon him to play. There is also something to be said for when a coach is riding you/ giving up on you that effort starts to lack etc. not saying it’s right but you break your leg in your first year, then they pass you up before giving you a chance to prove yourself. Maybe a change of scenery will help and maybe it doesn’t but it’s a solid flyer and if it doesn’t work it’s not like we’re stuck with him
  2. If you listened to Beanes presser yesterday, you kind of could read the tea leaves that his time was short. He basically said Virgil was someone coming in and when he talked about Cain it was kind of like yea you know we’re feeling him out and still getting to know him like he already knew what was going down
  3. I mean he hasn’t done much clearly but if there are two people to get a DB up to their potential, McDermott and Babich are those guys. Im assuming this means that Kareem Jackson is being let go to make room for him. It’s still a good flyer esp with Hamlin and Edwards having 1 year left on their deal
  4. I watched the presser, it wasn’t meant that way at all. He was talking about the injuries at LB and at Safety and the offense and said unfortunately a lot of guys didn’t get time in the preseason to get reps because of that. He said these players will have to learn on the fly in the regular season unfortunately
  5. He was covering the Steelers starters in game 2 and he had reps against the Panthers 1s. It seems they were less impressed with his DB play than fans were. Add in the # of DVs they kept and you see the reasoning
  6. I’m honestly most excited about Hardy and Couch. I think both showed a lot of potential at Defensive back in the preseason. Im a fan of Gouriage and he has a chance to make next years roster with further development.
  7. just shooting into the dark but maybe they are going to IR someone and promote one of the practice squad guys to the 53 opening a spot for him, that or one party changed their minds
  8. They find a way like a roach
  9. It doesn’t matter somehow the Steelers will finish 9-8 and make it as the 7 seed
  10. Their the same at QB Better at RB Worse at WR Better at TE slightly because Kincaid is in his 2nd year OL is a wash. Like the backups this year tho DL is worse unless Miller returns to form LB is worse when it comes to depth CBs- Better S- Worse Specialists- Same
  11. So all of that hubbub about guys and no one gets claimed nor do we claim anyone. Doesn’t mean we didn’t try tho
  12. he got cut so there is still hope for those people
  13. I wonder if they had plans to keep Evans over Johnson as the 3 but not sure that is still worth IRing a guy for 4 weeks. Just sign him when he’s healthy again.
  14. You typically won’t. They, if I recall, send out a press release from the NFL with all claims and best reporters won’t know either because there could be multiple teams putting in claims . Only vested veterans can sign to the PS right now
  15. I think the hope is that they can slip Hardy on the PS. We’ll see in a half hour if that is true or not. They prob felt that if he wasn’t worth keeping as a PR guy, that he had no spot rn because he’s not good enough to see the field as a CB I would have tried to trade a DB at the deadline to squeeze him in like a Hamlin or Lewis but the S position isn’t settled because of injuries so that would be hard to do. I also wonder if they weren’t shy about letting him go because if they do lose him they have another promising DB in Couch that they could get on the PS easier.
  16. QB- Mike White (1) RB- Frank Gore Jr, Dillon Johnson (Carolina) or Cody Schrader(49ers) (2) WR- Tyrell Shavers, Deon Cain, Danny Gray (49ers) (3) TE- Tre McKitty (1) OL- Gouriage, Clayton (Exempt), Ja'Tyre Carter (Chicago) (3) DE- Viliami Fehoko (Cowboys) (1) DT- Eli Ankou, Branson Deen (2) LB- Andre Smith Jr. (1) CB- Hardy, Couch (2) S- Kendall Williamson (1) That would be how I'd like to see it. Obviously wont but with what has been out there in the cut world.
  17. I agree with Ryan, he was playing at the bottom of the depth chart but at least I noticed him making plays. Had a couple close sacks and seemed to have decent movement skills.
  18. But Trubisky wont be ready for a couple of weeks so instead of Dinucci being the backup, Mike White will be the backup QB. Its still a good move to get a veteran QB on the PS instead of relying solely on Dinucci in case the PS QB has to play.
  19. Nope that’s not the name of the game. This is hypothetical obviously……or is it?
  20. To be fair we have no idea how good Hardy can be as a CB given time. No one expected Benford or Dane Jackson to start for us when they were drafted
  21. I kind of want to take a poll on this. How many people would be in favor of a guy like Brown if it meant that Andreessen was the guy coming off the 53
  22. You don’t do that man. That’s terrible business and players will remember that. If a guy takes a paycut and is your # 2 TE you don’t do them dirty and turn around and trade them
  23. The only thing I can think of when it comes to keeping Evans is they were going to keep him over Johnson as the RB# 3 until he got hurt. From last year it does seem to be that Brady likes utilizing his backs in pass routes so maybe in that regard Evans is a better fit that Johnson be maybe you see some of these RBs in a tight slot or F position during the season, Splitbacks etc. It’s obvious Hardy is seriously injured but did they not like him enough to IR him for the season? That’s where I’m miffed on that one. Morris and Trubisky must only need a week or two or he’s good to go not to IR them. If we were planning on keeping Toohill I’d be interested to see who’s out on waivers. I had mentioned Viliami Fehoko but don’t think he makes it down to our waiver position. I don’t know if this roster is entirely settled at the moment and expect a few call ups to cover injury risk against the Cards
  24. You can hate Morrow all you want but he’s an average player who is a veteran and has played real NFL games before with STs value. I tried telling you this when discussing the 53. They don’t feel comfortable having to put in Ulofoshio and Andreessen into a game and Spector is hurt hence why Morrow was kept around. Toohill I agree with you on idk what that is. Hardy must have a handshake deal or something but why not roster him by cutting Ferguson then IR him for the year
  25. I think they’re going to wait until everyone is healthy and then trade one of the safeties. You almost have to. At some point Hardy(unless out for the season) is going to make 12 DBs.
