  1. ??? The individual teams are the ones that want the rule! It benefits them directly, not the league. (It's just bad local PR to advertise that fact.)
  2. Well, if I were sick and needed treatments for a year, but the company hired me anyway, gave me the time off, and paid me full salary, I might feel a little loyalty. But athletes are different. The feel entitled. In short, don't blame WM. The front office took a chance and signed him for x dollars over 4 years (or whatever), and had to understand that they were really signing him for x dollars for 3 years before free agency (and a year down the road to boot). Time will tell whether he was worth a #1, x/3 dollars a year, and only 3 years of service.
  3. I think Chris Brown is coming off an injury and has a history of injuries (hence signing TH), so they are building up his workload gradually.
  4. And Henry doesn't have anything near the supporting threats in the passing game that WM does. I've never been a TH fan, but two games into the season I have to say his performances look better. (Fortunately, it is only two games so it doesn't mean squat.)
  5. This is why I think people need to quit thumping their chests about our defensive rank. Last year our vaunted #2 defense was 36% on 3rd down, only 13th in the league. We were a good defense, but not a great one, as evidenced by several key collapses.
  6. The most succinct analysis I've seen yet.
  7. The more I think about this game the more worried I become. I'm confident that our D will shut them down. Offensively, we were almost last in the league in 3rd down % last week. That was against Houston, who lacks the playmakers the Bucs have. The game may boil down to which offense gets greedy and makes mistakes trying to keep drives alive. Losman played relatively mistake-free last week, but he is young...
  8. Dallas wins it, but it won't be because of Drew. I'm predicting a Redskin offensive meltdown, Dallas wins it 16-3.
  9. Oh yes, the all important rankings. We all know how many of the top 5 defenses were playing in the Superbowl. I don't know what our % defending the tightends was last year, but on 3rd down conversions the vaunted #2 defense was only 13th in the league. I would guess that there would be a correlation between these two.
  10. I agree mostly with (3). I think Gruden might build his game plan around the idea of running to keep us honest, and exploiting McGee with Galloway for the big plays. I think he'll be in for a disappointment, tho, with our safeties helping out....
  11. C'mon, it doesn't take a Bills-hater to choke on the Bills-Bucs game being a lock, let alone the Bills defense being one of the greatest in NFL history. At this stage of the season I think this is one of the harder games to call.
  12. Why? I'm just curious why there is more hatred out there for Bledsoe than for GW. In my mind GW ("I built Tennesee's Defense!") was a jerk who made Brian Billick seem humble (remember "we're gonna set the records for sacks" in '03?). For myself I'll be rooting for Bledsoe to embarrass his D (but I fear it ain't gonna happen...)

  14. You might want to check out www.disgruntledhousewife.com It's been around for years, and has something called 'The Dick List' where visiters can list bad boyfriends - some of the stories are pretty funny. There's also a cool section on 'Foods Men Like to Eat.' Cooking tip: everything is better with bacon grease!
  15. Anybody know of any good NFL forums not tied to any team? Preferably without yahoo's?
  16. hemorroids? Must be the center...
  17. People need to stop disrespecting the way athletes talk. It is ignorant to go after someone who is already giving 110%
  18. British detective drama. They usually are either contempory or 20's-30's period series. This one takes place in England while WWII rages. The man character is a police detective who serves on the homefront instead of joining up. The stories take place against an interesting backdrop of war, spies, smuggling, profiteering, etc. I didn't expect to find the setting compelling, but I did.
  19. I initally didn't think I'd particularly like it, but Foyle's War is a real winner among the recent BBC mysteries.
  20. I found the civility and rational analysis disorienting...
  21. Sounds like a good omen! Thanks -
  22. Yeah, we all know Gibbs' views on Ramsey-Brunell, it's just surprising because he's not the kind of coach to come out and say somtheing like that (ie true). I would have expected him to announce on Wednesday something softer like Brunell was starting because Ramseys lingering injury would have cost him too much practice time...
  23. Some kind of accident on the northside inner beltway. LOL, it used to be that being on the road before 2:30 meant you safe... what we gonna do, start working at 4 AM now?
  24. What's the story, for those of us unfortunate saps who couldn't see the game?
  25. That's wierd... I was stuck in a beltway traffic jam from 2:15 to 5:15 listening to sports talk radio. Two of the shows were local, and they didn't mention it at all. In fact they were split on if Ramsey would start or whether Gibbs would use the injury excuse to make a switch. Could it be a hoax? It's dated 7:04, but refers to comments made by Gibbs Monday evening...
