  1. Part of the problem for me is the amount of money that's being tossed around and whether or not it will come around to eventually effect the integrity of the game. I heard on sports talk radio that it was estimated that 95 BILLION dollars will trade hands in NFL gambling this year. A lot of guys have made the point of "I'm only putting in 2 bucks to try to make 25K" etc. which is all well and good. What concerns me is the people putting in 2 million a week or whatever. It just seems like the amounts that are at stake could come around to effecting outcomes of games, players/coaches being bought, etc.
  2. I stand by it. You're not going to dominate every week and you have to win games like this sometimes. Plenty of teams get outplayed, and the good ones find a way to win. I'm not saying the bills are great, nor that they could even be considered good at this point, but I call it a great win. The defense played great all game, IMHO and it's not like they're out there racking up sacks and turnovers and pick 6's. They just went out there, played solid football drive in and drive out and came up with the big play at the end when we needed to ice the win. The offense sputtered and did not play great, obviously, but they didn't panic. They came out in the second half, continued to run the football, and set ourselves up to score points late which they did. On the road, in conference, playing our 3rd, 4th and 5th string backs, top WR out, overcoming adversity at then end, penalties not a major factor, first come from behind victory for a young QB. Great win! You can be grumpy about it if you want, though.
  3. As mentioned: unprepared, underwhelming, underachieving, outplayed. Pick one.
  4. On the whole, perhaps you're right. I was thinking more of Colton Schmidt I suppose. He had a big job to do in the first half making sure they weren't giving the titans good field position and he did a good job.
  5. Does the title of this article from nfl.com/NFL Moblie app really bother anyone else? I can see us being described as unprepared, underwhelming, underachieving, or outplayed, but undisciplined?? What about that performance was undisciplined? To me this was a dominating defensive performance in which the Titans were held to two field goals except for the one time they had a short field from the turnover. Offense was obviously held in check, but had significant contributors out with injury. Special teams played well. Seems like the media making up stories that aren't there to fit their agenda and take shots at Rex, which really bothers me after today's win. I think this is a great win for this team, and I'm hoping it will show them that they can win, but that they're going to need to do more to be considered with the big boys.
  6. Does anyone know what Schlereth has against the Bills? I've noticed a trend with that guy for years that he VERY rarely picks the Bills to win on ESPN Expert Picks, and if he does it's a week when everyone, or all but one have also picked the Bills. He's often the only person that will pick against the Bills for the upset (although that didn't happen this year) and I'm pretty sure I remember going through a year where he didn't pick us to win once. This year he's picked us to win twice (Vikings and Browns). I don't remember his playing career at all, but did we like give him a career ending injury or something?? I also really hope the Bills are using the 100-0 call as motivation.
  7. Like it or not, FireChan hit the nail on the head. This kind of thing has been happening in the NFL for years, but people still watch because they're football fans, period. And the men on the field are paid because they're good at fooball, period, not because of their outstanding morals. I understand that the graffic nature of this incident hits close to home for some people because it stirs up a desire to protect their wives or daughters, and that's a good thing. Also a good thing is the fact that this incident has caused the NFL to make some very strict policies regarding domestic violence in the future. But I'm not going to sit here and say that what Goodell did (if anything, assuming he actually saw the in-elevator video) was "as bad, or worse" than what Ray Rice did. Come on man. Really? Worse? Because if you think that, now I need to question whether or not you've seen the video! Just like all the other incidents that have happened, this too shall pass. I'd be willing to bet people will be done talking about it by next week. Regarding the Pegula's and the more expensive bid: It's pretty simple in my opinion... They're fans. Their decisions weren't straight business, but also emotional, and I think they were willing to pay more if it meant insuring the future of the franchise in Buffalo. We should be happy for them, not feeling like they got the raw end of the deal. They own the Bills!
  8. A win tomorrow is the only way we'll make a playoff push this year. We're not going 7-0 or 6-1 down the stretch, so we have to win tomorrow in order for the playoffs to even be a possibility, and even then it will still be an unrealistic possibility.
  9. I'm with you guys as far as thinking this is an attention grabbing stunt by a player that's not that good, etc., I'm just saying a lot of you were singing a different tune a few years back when he knocked out chad johnson over the middle.
  10. That number is 13 qb's, not games played. They've played in a combined 52 games, bringing the average down to 1.2 int/game. so far.
  11. I don't have a problem with the picks being split in this game. Against Rex Ryan, we haven't matched up with them very well. We're 2-6 against him since he started there and one of those two wins was in garbage time last game of the season last year, when everyone except the players wanted the bills to lose anyway. Going into this year, I was more excited about the offense than the defense, but so far the defense looks like the better unit, so I'm expecting a low scoring defensive battle tomorrow, with touchdowns being hard to come by. I wouldn't be surprised to see a 10-6 or a 13-9 final score and I think it could go either way. I've heard a lot of mentions about the turnovers being a factor, and then a lot of talk about the rookies QBs and who will make the least mistakes, but I think the biggest difference is going to be in the running game. I think if Fred and CJ combine for close to 200 yards we win, and if not, we're going to struggle because I don't think either QB is going to play well. I live in the NY metro area and this Jets team gets kicked around in the media an awful lot, and kind of unfairly in my opinion. I know players and coaches claim to not pay attention to the media, but I don't know if I buy that. I don't want to call people I don't know ego-maniacs, but I think it would be very easy to know that you're being talked about and want to know what's being said, so I think these guys have a chip on their shoulder more so than the Bills do and that can be dangerous.
  12. The only way this idea has any merit under the premise of player safety is if there have been more that 22 guys injured on a PAT attempts since 2009. And I'm talking injured (concussion or sent to IR) not dinged (have to sit out the next series).
  13. Translation: when/if the Bills and/or Sabres finally do win it all, it still won't be good enough..... wth is that all about??
  14. This might seem stupid to some of you, but the AHL Binghamton Senators finally won a Calder Cup for Binghamton in 2011 after 38 years of pro hockey in Binghamton. We got swept in the finals in 82 when we were the Whalers and we were the favorites to win a couple times, once in the mid nineties as the Rangers when we set the (still standing) AHL record for most points in a season, and then during the NHL-lockout season a few years back we were the favorites to win then too with Spezza MVP of the league and Ray Emery in net. We got bounced in the first two round of the playoffs those times, once by the damn Amerks; we lost to them 3 years in a row in the playoffs in fact. It might just be AHL to most of you, but for our family at least it was special. I've been going to those AHL games my whole life so it was a thrill to see them do it after 27 years for me, the full 38 for my dad and uncle. I actually felt like if the Senators could do it, the Bills could too, especially given that the Senators came in 5th place in their own division and came back from a 3-1 deficit in the first round. Then that fall the Bills finally beat the Patriots and went 4-0 the week after that. Obviously it didn't work out but you never know. We had some bad games to start this year, but it's not how you start, it's how you finish. Fitz has played some really good football and some bad football. So we've seen the bad so far, let's see if he can get some of that Fitzmagic going here in the second half of the season.
