Maybe I'm wrong but I don't think the Libertarians have ever had a major impact on a Presidential election. As for the Greens, their impact has been blunted after Nader-2000 and the backlash that brought about. It splintered the party into two factions in NY. Shame because for a period there they were supporting some decent candidates for various offices.

The Libertarians? I think the Greens have more clout. For those confused over the DeLay ethics charges-and it is difficult keeping the assortment of violations in order-heres a handy dandy scorecard. http://www.slate.com/id/2116392/ As to which one I find personally the most troubling I'd have to go along with the author. If it turns out DeLay is connected to bilking Native Americans out of millions by his association with Abramoff then he shouldn't just be thrown out of congress, he should be in jail. Ripping off Indians, imagine that.

Vote on "Bush in 30 years"...

Moveon is one of those organization's that filled a void for a time, basically as a mobilizing tool, but they lately seem to be just flailing away at air. They picked the wrong time to be ineffective since the republicans seem to be ready to splinter at any moment over DeLay. And don't be surprised if Chaffee blocks the Bolton nomination. -
I give him another month as majority leader. The signs were all there even before the Sciavo fiasco, now his fellow republican representatives are starting to come out against him. Not even the evangels will be able to save him.

Well you brought it up and your inference was clear enough; Hillary Clinton's "right wing conspiracy" charge warrents dismissal because it came from Hillary. If you're going to introduce that opinion into the equation you're at least going to have to explain why you think she'd use that phrase if the Right wasn't actually targeting them. -

Well SOME cared, but they were a definite minority, albeit a very loud, noxious one. The Mitterand comment by a poster here was on target. Seems the French really tend to care more about matters of national concern rather than what their leader is doing 'tween the sheets. Not us. We still have the old repressive morality hovering over us, ready to shoot you down if you dare stray. -

The phrase "vast right wing conspiracy" draws mocking groans and and skepticism from conservatives, but if any of them ever bothered to do a little research and background checks then maybe it wouldn't come as a surprise that there was a concerted effort to take Clinton down from the beginning. -

"Enablement"? I think nobody outside of Ken Starr and a rabid foaming right wing congress really cared, or thought it should be public knowledge. I know I certainly didn't care -

On the "Pro-Life/Pro-Choice" debate
Whiskey Dick replied to Adam's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Do you actually search this information out? Or, do your friends volunteer this to you? The reason why I ask is because it sounds a mite morbid and maybe a matter of minding one's business unless consulted for advice. Whatever the case, for some reason (don't ask why) I have this image of someone, invited over for dinner, asking his hosts "Bob and Carol, how did that abortion work out for you folks a couple years ago?" -
Of course he wouldn't have. Couldn't you tell that from merely suffering through his 67,831 posts. Of course, his response to your query was entirely predictable.

To quote the mayor in Jaws I say we "string them up by their Buster Browns". All in favor say AYE!

[OT] Sweet Home High School Student
Whiskey Dick replied to \GoBillsInDallas/'s topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
It figures it would happen there. I always hated Sweet Home. Parents send their kids to some cow pasture in the middle of suburban sprawl and later wonder why their progeny doesn't think it's paradise. -
More DeLay nonsense: WASHINGTON (AP) -- House Majority Leader Tom DeLay on Thursday blamed Terri Schiavo's death on what he contended was a failed legal system and he raised the possibility of trying to impeach some of the federal judges in the case. "The time will come for the men responsible for this to answer for their behavior," said DeLay, R-Texas.

PLEASE! KEEP HIM IN! It makes the Republican leadership look more whacked out and controlled by the evangelical fringe if he's around.

This whole WMD thing is just one small mistake. I'm sure when you read the Trent Dilfer report it will straighten everything out.

Three people thrown out of a Bush SS tour for doing nothing They had a "No blood for oil bumper Sticker". Free speech in this country is an illusion. -
Not to be out done by the far right the Schindler's have called on the Reverend Jesse Jackson to try and clean up some of the stench left by Bush(s), Frist and DeLay.

That's fine Joe. I look for honesty and conviction before anyone rehashes ideas they got two seconds before they posted on some far-flung site -
