  1. As to people being "certain" the Bills would not draft a QB if one of the big four were on the board, I am far from certain of that.

Why? The NFL "mantra" has always been, "If a potential franchise QB is on the board you ALWAYS take him". I feel that is a bit too strong a statement (for example, why would New England do such a thing?).

Well, because franchise QBs will be scooped up earlier in the round. With NEs success, they pick at the bottom. That "franchise" QB wouldn't be available there.

  2. Would you want your multi-million dolla rookie learning from Aaron Brooks?

Good point. Plus Brooks fits the vertical game they like. Raider QBs will never be among the league leaders in QB efficiency. Brooks has a built-in excuse for just this type of system. He's talented, but mistake prone. With the receiving talent on that team and Jordan in the backfield, he'll have his moments to shine. Raider fan will shudder, however, when they NEED him to drive the field with the clock winding down. Bottom line, he'll bully his way to success and break hearts when they need it most.

  3. For the Bills to draft another QB 2 years after giving up a 1st rd pick to move up and take JP when he has only played in 8 games is stupid! If Leinart, Young, or Cutler falls in our lap they should be used as trade bait to get more picks to shore up our OL and DL or possibly draft Davis earlier in the 1st to give JP some weapons and a OL/ DL later. I mean if JP fails then yes some would look back and say I told we should have picked one of the Qbs. But what if one of those top 3 QBs struggle, as most young QBs do? This would be JP all over again with those who would start harping on rebuilding the line and adding weapons and setting us back 2-3 more years. I mean if the Ravens or Lions could stick with Harrington and Boller for as long as they have why can't some give JP more than 8 games to show more than flashes and give him a chance to be consistent? At least give him a chance for none of these other QBs are going to come in and light up the league in thir first season.

It would be stupid if the previous regime were still place. They are not. With the regime change comes philosophical and evaluation change. The fact that JP was acquired in the 1st round shouldn't have any bearing whatsoever.

  4. Based on what?  Didn't I just state what I based it on.  If he's that good, why did Green Bay draft someone else?  Sherman didn't want him in Green Bay.  And now, with a supposed QB guru as head coach, the new regime is willing to let him walk also.  I would say those are clues.

You've already established this. Now, do you care to counter my rebuttal?

  5. Because he pretty much sucks?  He wasn't even thought of as good enough to groom for Favre's replacement by Sherman in GB.  Now, I guess the new regime, with their supposed QB guru head coach is willing to let him leave too.

Yeah, he sounds like a real winner.

You are basing him sucking on what exactly? How much action has he seen? How much has JP seen? Sherman and McCarthy are the authority? I'm not saying Nall is the answer, but to assume he's being brought in to be a #3 is presumptuous.

If you think the competition that Levy has spoken is just between who is on the roster, you might be mistaken. Just because he's a #3 on someone elses roster doesn't mean our brass sees him as such. They may think there is good talent and value in this kid. Is that so farfetched?

  6. It's my observation that if we draft another QB, we are going to have the Flutie/Johnson situation all over again.  Two highly paid QB's and a split locker room on who should start.  I would be surprised if the Bills drafted a QB, but then again I was surprised when they drafted McGahee.

Conversely, it is my observation that if we draft a QB with our 1st selection, JP is out of a job.

  7. Marv and Dick have both said they are planning on having Moulds on the team next year and have never said they were going to cut him if they couldn't get his contract cost down.

Why would they make it public that they would cut him?

  8. If Holcomb, Losman, Drew Bledsoe, Shane Matthews, and Alex Van Pelt were good enough to be on the Bills, Vince Young is good enough to be on the Bills.  I would love to have an athletic specimen under center.  Guy can win games, I don't care whether its orthodox or unorthodox, guy can win under pressure.  USC was heavy favorite, Texas behind in the 4th quarter, who wins? Vince Young wins.  I'll take young over Huff, Ngata, justice etc...

The quicker, faster NFL player will negate, to some degree, VYs athleticism. It's a different playing field. I see him and think Vick. I'm not a Vick fan. Schaub should be ATLs starter, but I digress.....

  9. I agree with the assertion that the Bills braintrust is not totally convinced that JP is the long term answer (or short term for that matter). Obviously, there wouldn't be a competition if they were sold on him. In light of the Brees signing and the Jets apparently interested in a QB other than those in the upcoming draft, at least one the "top 3" QBs will fall to #8. I wouldn't touch Young, I'm intrigued by Cutler but would shy away and would be REAL tempted should Leinhart be there. Which he won't be. Also, I wouldn't move up for him either. Draft day will be very telling, perhaps, on the future of JP.
