If you asked the other 31 coaches...
BuffaloBob replied to Rubes's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well, good for you. All I can do in response to that is paraphrase what Mularkey said to a reporter who said the same thing: "I knew it was a good call because of how much I know about football compared to you." -
How's Mularkey lookin'?
BuffaloBob replied to Pine Barrens Mafia's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am well-aware of what his point was. And notwithstanding your reiteration of it, the fact that the Giants are 3-1 playing who they played and that the Bills are 0-3 playing who they played simply does not support this point, as he tried to do. Good for you! But there is simply nothing to support the point other than your subjective belief in it. Would Clements have knocked down the pass against Jax just because one of those guys was coaching? Would the refs have called the game better in Oakland because it was one of those guys instead? Would Greer not been offsides on the FGA because theyw ere coaching? All pure speculation. Any one of those guys could just as easily be 0-3 with this team as Mularkey. -

You are missing the point. The issue isn't whether people were watching him or as stated above that they would be blitzing. The point is that if you execute properly, those defenders hitting the pocket hard enables Drew to get outside of them easily. Had Henry hit the correct hole, he would have chipped Bruschi charging up the middle who would have also hesitated slightly before he was sure Travis didn't have the ball. Once that happens, even Drew can pick up three yards running to the sideline. Too bad Travis fugged it up. We'd all be posting today what a ballsy and unlikely call it was. -

Thank you for supporting my point, they do not have half the talent of the Bills. Yup, and fortunately for them it came against the Redskins, not the Superbowl champs! I believe I have a right to be optimistic! -
Is Mularkey's honeymoon over?
BuffaloBob replied to BillnutinHouston's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That WAS the beauty of it. Who would have ever expected it? Unfortunately, because it was blown up for reasons completely unrelated to the call itself, it is deemed stupid by the media and ignorant fans. One of these days, this team is going to stop blowing assignments on these plays, and they are going to be shown to be good calls by a very saavy coach. -

Well, after three games, I should certainly hope so! -

Again, an irrelevant statement per my original point. The Giants have not done so either. They are just fortunate to have not played but one so far, and they got whipped. You made it sound like the Giants were 3-1 because of Coughlin, and thus intimated that record proves somehow that we would have had a better record had we only hired Coughlin. My point was and still is that you can't derive that from their current records. I also pointed out that your assessment of the Giant's talent being half of that of the Bills was meaningless subjective opinion without any basis in reality. Sure, such hyperbole is great for trying to reinforce an otherwise unsupportable syllogism, but anyone with half a brain can see through that for what it is. -
How's Mularkey lookin'?
BuffaloBob replied to Pine Barrens Mafia's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
First of all, the answer is YES! So your assumption as to my answer was incorrect. And yes I DO think this team is headed in the right direction. But more importantly, my answer to that questions is irrelevant to the point I made above. There is absolutely NO evidence based on the Giant's start or the Bills' start that even mildly indicates that Coughlin would have had us in any better position at this point. Talk about your mental masturbation! -

Oh, don't I just love these meaningless throw-away comparisons as if they actually indicate something meaningful. First, the Gints 3 wins have come against opponents with a combined record of 4-8, not one of which has a winning record. The only team they have played with a winning record they got their asses handed to them. The Bills three losses have been to teams with a combined record of 8-3. Secondly, your assessment that the Gints have half the talent the Bills do is based on what?? Please, save the meaningless comparisons until the end of the season, when they might actually have some statistical significance. -
Simon, Thanks for a refreshing thread that doesn't start with the usual, "When do you think Losman will start?" or "bench Drew for Mathews" or "This team plays with no heart" or "Donahoe SUX" crap from the football "experts" on this board. You could not have possibly captured my own sentiments more than you did. Of course, you are now merely a ________ apologist (insert any name associated with the Bills) and have no grasp of the subjective.

I know if it were me in that guys situation, that dog is a goner! That would be the last thing he ever ate!

(OT)A coupla tv shows I have been enjoying
BuffaloBob replied to The Poojer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I really like "Rescue Me" myself. It's a pretty heavy show with some pretty raw humor going on in between. The writing is good and the acting has been realy good as well. -
I think it is obvious that goal was far from my mind when posting this.

Oh yeah, and every time you post this dumb-ass statement, I ask you when exactly we were supposed to fire the staff? At the bye week when we were 4-4 and still well within the hunt for a playoff birth? In hindsight, the Bills killed themselves losing 3 games in a row by only a total of 9 points, but thenh again, I forget. You can see the future. And in any event, I suppose that LeBeau and Steckel would have won those games after sending the team the message that even though they were 4-4 and that we were going to fire the head coach and OC because with them there was no hope. Oh wait, I suppose Jimmy Johnson or Tom Coughlin would have happily come out of retirement just to take over a team at mid-season. LOL! Yeah, sounds like the kind of gig an experienced coach would surely relish! Or hey, maybe we could have hired Mularkey away from the Steelers in mid-season and given him a head start! Oops, interference with contract.

Every time you post this dumb-ass statement, I ask you to explain whow the hell it isn't tanking a season to fire the current coaches in mid-season and hire new ones? I would like to know STILL who the fuuk we would have hired and how do you expect to install a new offense in the middle of the season? Every time you post this dumb-ass statement I ask you (assuming that you would respond that we would have promoted the heretofore incredibly successful Dick LeBeau as head coach, and another defensive coordinator with no clue about offense) and someone like Les Steckel as OC, wouldn't be still running the same flawed offensive scheme, regardless of who would have then been calling the plays? And you never respond. And BTW, the answer is OF COURSE we would because you can't install a new offense in the middle of the freakin' season. Every time you post this dumb-ass statement, I ask you would we have been stuck with those interim coaches for the future, or would we have fired their asses at the end of the season, saying thanks very much after sticking them with nothing but a caretaker's role of a team going nowhere? And you never respond. Yeah, I'll bet that act would have attracted some serious coaching talent into Buffalo! Until you are actually able to support this dumb-ass statement, it will never be anything but....... A DUMB-ASS STATEMENT!

Now why does THIS not surprise me? Now you are showing off your ignorance generally. Based on the level of your response, I guess I have only one choice for ensuring that you understand me, and that would be to stoop to your level briefly. SO............. Right back atchya! :I starred in Brokeback Mountain:

Sadly, had Baker not been offside on the Patsies field goal, we would have been taking the easy field goal to tie on that 4th and 3 and kicking off to play Defense with a tie ball game to protect.
-
I think it was Mould's mistake, because he did the exact same thing again later in the game (turned the pattern in when Drew expected him to turn it out). The second time, Drew was jawing him off the field.
-
Had the Bills not been offside on the FG, the score would have been 20-17 at the point Travis takes his header. Were that the case, the Bills kick the gimmee fieldgoal to tie the game. Instead, we run that ill-fated play that winds up to be a TD for NE. Of course, there were many other dumb mistakes, but that was the most crucial of them.

What's the word on the injuries?
BuffaloBob replied to MadBuffaloDisease's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Actually, the line played well even with the losses, except Price was abused at LT a few times. But they ran the ball well and Tucker did a helluva job coming for Teague. -
Why does this not surprise me? You would blame this loss on Bledsoe! But by doing so, you reveal your football ignorance.

Unless you (or anyone else who agrees with you and the idiot who wrote that article) can give me a draft pick that we ahould have taken because he is now starting and contributing to a degree that you claim McGahee should now be, AND who clearly has the potential Willis does which we have glimpsed on any number of occasions so far, then this is all just mental masturbation. So far, I've seen two possible O-line draft choices mentioned who have yet to make any serious impact to the teams that drafted them. -
