Coudn't have said it better myself, though I have said it!
-
Yup, which is why I don't like him for third and expecially fourth and short. If you're going to run off tackle, give it to A-train. He knows how to get a freakin' yard when you need it. But I would have quick count QB sneaked it, ala the Pats.
-
Quite right! That push, however slight, was right in front of the ref. As for the INT, Clemets did exactly the same thing. On the first contact made with Moorman, it was with a Bill blocking a Pat. No penalty there. On the second one, there was no camera coverage to show it, but the reality is Moorman got the punt off no problem with no one near him before the camera moved down field. Maybe he was blocked? The refs get NO blame for this loss. Pats had that first down, even though given an extra yard. The Bills blocked in the back on both of the calls, no question. Fairchild needs to be smarter on his play-calling. We had no answer when the Pats wer blitzing in the second half, and that call for a long developing pass play down by our own goal line was foolish. And lest we forget, McGee returned a kick he probably shouldn't have but even worse, ANOTHER block in the freakin' back.
-
Say what you want about the "Decision" but those two blocks in the back killed us! First of all, Clements' push cost us a possible touchdown. But even more stupid was Royals' on the Price catch. We had the first down and driving for a go ahead score, and that killed us. As for "the Decision" I really wish we would stop using Willis on 3rd or 4th and short. I have seen him get stopped way too many times. Should have brought in Thomas. He is a back who knows how to get a yard when you need it. Either that or take a cue from the Belichick play book and quick snap a QB sneak.

JP's quotes say it all about last year's coaching
BuffaloBob replied to Albany,n.y.'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I totally agree with this assessment, except I think it was downhill from the moment they released DB and handed the job to JP. Except for the fact that they totally came in ill-prepared for the Pittsburgh game last season (the coaches fault IMHO), they had as you say, a lot of reason for optimism. While Drew was never going to lead us to the SB, I think we had a real shot at the playoffs, especially when you look back at how weak the AFC East turned out to be last season. I think many of the vets were already of the mind-set things were going to suck, and this contributed to the problems at the outset. I'm sure they saw it as a decision to let the kid learn ala Mannings and Palmer, and that they were already writing off the season. While I never thought Drew would have gotten us to the SB, the decision to dump DB was the biggest mistake the former regime made. The seond worst was to not stick with JP and let him take his lumps and get the experience. The third worse was getting Holcomb to be the go to vet in the event JP struggled. -
I seem to recall a completed pass he threw over one defender and short of a second. That pass play was featured and shown at least once on replay. They remarked about what a nice touch he had to have to complete that pass. I'm not saying that proves anything regarding consistency, but I think at least dispells the notion that he can't yet throw a touch pass over the outstretched arms of a linebacker. The kid needs some time. He is learning his second offense in three years and on top of that he is working on a lot of issues, including footwork, reading defenses and making quick decisions. I think he has the physical ability and he has demonstrated the ability to make good plays and perform with good technique. he just needs time to develop consistency. The only way you get that is playing.

Report: Bills and Whitner Over 1 Million Apart!
BuffaloBob replied to BillsFanForever19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah just like I said in the other thread: Not so "down the middle" as we were led to believe. It is in the middle somewhere, but skewed to the low side! I don't understand the need to posture over what should be only about $600,000. Hardly worth keeping your #1A out of camp. Of course, it may have been necessary to take the lower position first to force them into the middle. If they started out asking for $14Million, Overdorf may have felt it necessary to take a below half position first, knowing that they's ultimately meet in the middle. -
Dante's agent is doing him a great disservice
BuffaloBob replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Clearly Marv is negotiating through the press. You can go ahead and assume fault lies with the agent, but Marv is doing exactly the opposite with Whitner: playing mind games with him, pressuring him based on his falling behind, trying to make him lose his sense of security, etc. Why do you think the agent told him to can the 4 phone numbers? So Marv and Dick can't call him up and fill him full of fear and self-doubt. Without any info, you have no idea who is being the stinkers. Of course, the natural tendency is to believe Marv is being eminently fair and it is just that no good snake in the grass agent that is holding things up, looking out for himself. But it can just easily be Marv and the Bills playing a little hard ball, and then using the press to their advantage. The thing about any tough negotation is both sides think they are right, fair and reasonable. One could just as easily say, come on Marv, what's a few hundred thousand more, or an option year to get your #1 into camp! All Marv said about the deal is that it's somewhere in between, he didn't say it was heavily skewed toward the top rather than the bottom. And saying that it's somewhere in the middle is muddying the water just a bit. We need to just keep our panties unbunched for a few more days until both sides give a little to get it done. -
What about the fact that he characterizes Nall as having Losman-like inexperience with Holcomb-like mileage. What is THAT supposed to mean?? Has Nall been in the league even half the years Holcomb has?? Also, how was JP erratic and ineffective his rookie season when he was rehabbing and coming in for clean-up work to hand the ball off when he got in at all? Finally, why does he have little time to prove he isn't a bust? Christ, they barely let him start half the season last year. Both Mannings at least got to struggle through their first season or two before anyone was asking if they proved they weren't busts.

Willis McGahee = Eric Moulds?
BuffaloBob replied to HarkinBanks's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I really wish I hadn't read this thread! I always knew Willis was no Einstein, but this article is pretty pathetic. -
I don't agree. Campbell did not drive his arm/elbow into the head. The Senator went directly for Connelly's head.

Peter King weighs in about our draft
BuffaloBob replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Nor does he mention that the dolphins had interviewed the guy twice. They could have easily moved up a few spots to leapfrog the Bills to get him. Yes there is a risk/reward dynamic going on here, but if the risk is not worth the reward, you don't do it. Sure it would have been nice to have had Whitner and an additional 2 and 4. BUT, the plan gets blown up if someone else takes him after you trade back. And yes, you shouldn't fall in love with one guy blah blah, BUT in some cases, when the guy is exactly who you want at the position you really need filled, and there isn't anyone else you grade nearly that high, it is not a bad move to play it safe and get your guy. So what if an unamed personnel guy puts some probability on him still being there. Is this guy a personnel guy for every team between 8 and 15? Does he know that someone like the Felons in the 16-25 range wan't going to make a deal to move up ahead of the Bills? That 95% probability prediction is just someone pissing in the wind. -
Thing I love about this team is that they are rarely thrown off their game by that crap. As evidenced by their scoring the first goal anyway.
-
Yeah, and of course ESPN plays that hit on Connolly about 6 times and Melrose says he think it was a clean hit and that Connolly was going down and that's why he got hit in the face. Bunch of Bullsheit! That was intentional. That guy needs his block knocked off.

Reason #1784 that Marv shouldn't draft

My eyes are fine, but my brain could be warped. But either way, I still think she is hot! -

Kiper's Grades: Gave the Bills a "C"
BuffaloBob replied to Lurker's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think the world is coming to an end. I have agreed with virtually every one of your posts regarding this draft. Something is definitely amiss!! -
I think it was a very smart pick. This guy was much heralded his first two seasons, and I always wondered what happened. If he can get well and get back tothe form of his first two years, he WILL be a steal!
-
NOOOOOO!! Say it ain't so! You mean, the people in the war rooms for the teams drafting players don't get all of their information from the media??? Are you saying that they actually know someething that the media experts do not? My world has been shatttered!

Yahoo doesn't think the 1st 2 picks were a reach.
BuffaloBob replied to jarthur31's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Actually, Kuyper said twice today that he really liked the Whitner pick at 8, all the while Mort was trying to diss the Bills. -

He also had Miami picking Whitner at 16, and said he visted Miami twice! They obviously liked what they saw. -

Round 1 (#26) Selection: DT John McCargo
BuffaloBob replied to udonkey's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Oh really? I haven't judged anything one way or the other. You have! All I said is, why the presumption that the Bills braintrust are stupid and buffoons rather than that they knew something we didn't? You have no clue, nor do I. But you are the one bitching about the move, not me. So, no. I am NOT being as presumptuous as you, and thus I will not give myself an eyeroll. But I am happy to giive you another one! LOL!
