  1. It was so great to hear from Joe and to know he is cancer free!
  2. . Nah. He's guaranteed two opportunities to do that every year!
  3. It wasn't as bad as the first one, so they knew he wouldn't have as much recovery time for this one. There was no Achilles damage on this one.
  4. And I suppose this entitles you and those like you to to pee on on everyone else's corn flakes. I fart in your general direction! Put that on a T-shirt!
  5. Who BTW was a two-way player for the Omaha Nighthawks of the UFL in 2012 and is now currently signed to the roster of the New York Football Giants of the NFL.
  6. I often find it interesting, and a bit annoying, that people can totally get that every other organ in their body can malfunction, and yet when it comes to the brain, people just can't get their head around the fact that that organ can malfunction, too.
  7. Mario isn't the first or the last to get taken to the cleaners by a gold-digger. Hopefully he's learned his lesson. He needs to get on the "pay-as-you-go" plan. Much cheaper!
  8. This precisely why it annoys me no end that people continue to insist as if fact, that E.J. Would have been no doubt available to us at 41 if not in the 3rd. People look at grades assigned by Kiper and McShay and assume somehow this reflects the grade given by the people charged with actuall drafting them for their team, who spend countless hours not only watching game film, but interviewing and interacting with them. While game performance is surely a huge consideration, you cannot underestimate the value of in person interviews, at the combine, personal workouts and team visits. If you do not have a good feeling about how a guy performs in personal interviews, things such as interaction with others, the ability to learn quickly, the way a guy carries himself, that simply HAS to affect your willingness to risk a high draft pick, ESPECIALLy when talking about the QB position. These quotes clearly illustrate that a teams perception of a player can significantly impact their place on the draft board, an activity that is NOT reflected in the typical scouting reports forming the basis for the "all-important" mock drafts that form the basis for the public's assessment of a player and where he "should" be drafted.

  10. The past two years, the Horn's have been primarily a power running team. The reason for that is that since Colt McCoy left, the QB play has been pretty mediocre at best. Plus, Goodwin was running track in the spring every year, which no doubt had an affect on his touches in the fall. But of course, if you're a realist, then the fact that he only had 30 some touches this past season definitely means he can't catch the ball, nor can he run with it, and he is just a gadget guy. His lack of touches couldn't POSSIBLY have anything to do with the nature of the team's offense, the ability of the OC to utilize him, or the ability of the QB to get him the ball.
  11. I know I shouldn't be too hopeful given the Bills track record over the past 15 years or so, but I have this gut feel that after doing an exhaustive search on this QB class, the Bills identified the guy with the most upside and for the first time in a long time, if they handle him right in his development, they finally got it right with EJ and those two "draft experts" are going to be eating crow big time!
  12. And this ^^^^^^^
  13. ^^^^^THIS^^^^^^ I heard him on ESPN radio late last night saying the Bills did really questionable things in the draft. First: They took EJ instead of Nassib. They could have had him in the 4th round, he declares. Second, they could have taken Brown from Kansas when they took Alonso, and he had Brown rated higher. I started laughing! The Bills screwed up because they didn't follow HIS grading. This is a guy who rates players without ever having coached or managed a football team in his life. It's funny, but I would think that the fact that Gino wasn't taken by ANYONE til the third round and that Nassib and Barkley weren't taken til the fourth should tell him something about how the rest of the teams had them rated. To assume that any of those guys were a better value than EJ, especially in light of that should tell him something! His "grade" totally ignores the fact that just maybe, other teams may have also recognized the upside in EJ as well, and saw him as a guy that could be coached up to much greater heights than Gino, Nassib or Barkley would ever reach. Only time will tell if the Bills were right, but they had not been able to get the guy they really wanted before in Cam Newton, and here was a chance to grab a guy who is very much like him in many ways accept in what he achieved with his team. I'd rather they swung for the fence on the guy believed had the biggest upside, then settle for a guy that may have been more polished coming out of college but had a limited ceiling. The irony is, had they drafted Nassib at 16, Kiper would have probably given them an A, notwithstanding that he and the others slipped to the second and third day!
  14. Oh, well that PROVES it then, your a genius!! My point exactly! There are so many reasons why he didn't produce huge numbers compared to others. I managed to see several Horn's games over his career, and the only thing I can say is that the guy didn't drop a bunch of passes, and when they manage to get him to the open field, he is electric. He just didn't get used that much. The Horns have been a chocolate mess for the past 3-4 seasons. The QB play has been sub par, and this past season, they were primarily a power running team. The guy is tough, he's durable, he blocks tenaciously, and I think he can contribute immediately as a gunner and as a punt and kick returner. He's also really good on those triplet formations, bubble screens and reverses. But of course, choosing him was CLEARLY a DEBACLE!
  15. Let's keep our fingers crossed on the next ten.
  16. Of course it's silly. These reach/value assessments are based on rankings made by people who don't actually scout and coach football players for living, but rather play one on an Internet web site!
  17. You're right, he should have used that vertical leap and long jump to intercept more passes that weren't thrown to him. Then he could have made up for all those balls not thrown to him. BTW, somehow I just can't be terribly concerned about your expert opinion. I think I'd rather trust our new coaching staff and people who actually scout players for a living. But that's just me.
  18. I guess we can throw that chump back now that we've signed Da'Rick! Maybe we can get a compensatory pick for next year.
  19. I agree! A guy who runs 4.27 and faster, jumps 42" vertical and block his ass off. He's a freakin' disaster!
  20. Well, I wasn't but that's only because the drinking age was 18 at the time I was in college! Now, if you want to talk about high school, then I'll respectfully take the 5th!
  21. Honestly, I was hoping for the second tradedown as well, BUT I am not the GM of a football team whho desparately needs a franchise QB. Obviously, the Bills did not ACTUALLY view the QB class as Buddy described it publicly. Or if they did, they still felt EJ was the best of them by far. I felt the same way as you, based on the Bills' public assessment of their feeling about the QB class. So, had they traded to the end of the draft, they were inviting an easy trade-up from a number of teams and they just weren't willing to risk it. I think that says a lot about how they felt about EJ vs the others. And judging from the way the other teams held their noses til the 3rd and 4th rounds, I am glad they played it safe and got THEIR guy.
  22. Mel Kuyper, Todd McShay and their ilk are part of a huge hype machine designed to get us all in a tizzy over an event that until relatively recently (last 10 years or so), to which very few of us paid such close attention. Has Mel Kuyper ever even played football, let alone coached it or managed a football team? What gives him any more insight than any of us with access to youtube and television? It is those who coach, scout and actually draft players who know what is important to them. Sure, there are certain obvious criteria like physical dimensions, speed, quickness with which we can all TRY to project to success playing a certain position. But there so many other factors that just can't be objectified in a way that adds up to some ultimate ranking with which everyone agrees. So these guys will now spend time trying to convince everyone how those teams that did not draft in accordance with their projections had bad drafts, while those that did had great drafts, and not of it will mean anything once the season starts. And we'll do it all again next year!
  23. So true! ESPN gave us an F grade for selecting EJ at number 16, but would have no doubt given us an A had we chosen either of 3 QBs no one else wanted until the 3rd or 4th rounds!
