  1. I like Howard for the most part. He, like all radio jocks, can be annoying to listen to sometimes.

I’ve only called in to WGR twice in my life, and the one time I called him he hung up on me and called me crazy. 😀

It was when Jarius Byrd was tagged and it was passed the date when Byrd could sign a long term deal for the season. He was going on about how if Byrd doesn’t show up to play, than the Bills simply trade him for a first or second round pick.

I called in to say that there is no team in their right mind that would pay anywhere near that to stand in our shoes at that point. Because he couldn’t sign long term with anyone at that point, he would have to play under the tag and he would become a free agent at the end of the season, or they would have to tag him a second time to try and negotiate a deal to keep him. And of course, the price goes up substantially for that second tag.

He told me that they could simply negotiate a deal under the table and have a verbal agreement to execute the deal in the new league year.  I responded that would be an unenforceable verbal contract which could not be enforced. It’s kind of like trying press charges against the guy who stole your weed. (Well, at least back in the day. 😇)

He said oh come on, they do it all of the time. I said that I had no knowledge or proof of that, but any lawyer knows it would be an unenforceable contract unless both parties agree to sign it at the later time, but either party could refuse and that would be the end of it.

Anyway, I said again that the Bills would be lucky to get any draft compensation at all under those circumstances. And if they were

that lucky, it certainly wouldn’t be for a first or second given that they would only be trading for the right to stand in our shoes. He called me crazy and hung up on me.

I’ve often thought about calling him and asking him to remind me of who it was we got for that draft choice for which we traded Byrd while he was on the tag.  But I’m not all that vindictive.

Very sorry for your loss. If you're willing to break them up, I'm looking for one ticket. I'm going with my brother but was hoping to take my 98 year old father with us. Please PM me or text me at 949-923-7242.

    PM sent.

Thanks for the condolences, everyone.  It's weird because I've never been the one receiving them, always sending them up until now.

Ill take the tickets for the Saturday practice.  I told my kids we'd get out there and I failed to get tickets.

I'm sorry, but someone PM'd me shortly before your post and grabbed those.  I have tickets for one more day on Sunday August 7.  But those I'm still hoping to use.  However, if I can't use them, I'll give you a shout before I post them.

And just to be clear, the tickets for each of the days I posted are now taken.

It’s not actually ‘nice’ in Buffalo -EVER! I’m a native. I know this. It’s why I moved away. June-Sept aren’t nice, they’re just not as horrible as the other 8 months.

RedZone is an absolute Must for NFL fans. Plain & simple.

Actually, ours has been and is this season waaay to early.  After the Bye, we will play 14 straight weeks to the AFC Championship. No team has ever won the SB with this long a stretch without a Bye.  juss sayin’🤷‍♂️

I’m a native as well, and have lived in Texas, Cali and Florida for most of my young middle aged adult life and other than Cali, I would much rather live here when it comes to the weather. I guess that’s one of the reasons why I came back.

But then again, I really don’t mind the changing weather.  I really like May through October here and I don’t even mind the winter all that much (when I’m not out in it for 4 plus hours straight at a Bills game anyway).

NFL seems to punish Bills for not having a dome.

Bills should start working on having stadium be unavailable for many weekends perhaps partly as new stadium prep.

Last year we played 5 of 9 home games from mid-November to January, with 4 in December and January!

I overall agree- also I prefer more home games late. The bye week thing is the biggest advantage the NFL seems to give

Do you have season tickets?  And if so, are they club seats?  😄

    - Bills don’t play any teams who are coming off a bye week

    - only west coast trip is week 1, with 11 days before next game

    - only week with short rest is vs lions, also coming off short rest

    - Bills face GB at home, coming off a bye week

I like all of those aspects, plus all of the prime-time games, but why is that EVERY year (seemingly) we ALWAYS play more away than home games when the weather is actually nice here?  Why can't we play 5 home and 3 away in the first 9 weeks instead of the other way around?  Just even once in a while.

still not sneaky...most people called for Bills to draft a RB early in draft

I believe he means that it is sneaky within the context of all the hype discussion about the draft.  He doesn't think that this pick for the Bills is really being talked about as much as it should be given its potential to impact the Bills offense.  I don't think he means sneaky in the sense that this was a pick no one saw coming.

That responsibility is an issue for an insurance company, not an NFL team.

Having said that, I know nothing of this guy's condition nor have I ever seen any type of medical report on him, nor am I a doctor!

But I agree with others--if teams feel his physical condition will result in a wasted pick (short career basically) then they are going to look elsewhere.

Not if the damages exceed the coverage. And that’s assuming he can even GET coverage.

I don’t understand the whole thing.  McD always says his CBs need to tackle and of the top CBs, Elam had a specific negative by Lance Zierlien of “weak run support”.  Booth, who was still available, was noted for great run support and tackling.  They could’ve just stayed at 25 and taken Booth.

Or maybe, just maybe, they feel like then can coach up the guy who they feel was the best fit and had the best upside.  Maybe they felt that since they have a great track record of coaching up guys drafted in the late rounds or undrafted, maybe they somehow feel that they can coach up his tackling.  Call me crazy.

I reject the whole premise I guess. I don’t think the Bills will let us get out of the first round without a corner they want. That’s my thought. 85% of the top 32 corners in the league today are round   1 guys. Everyone else is a crapshoot. If we want a super bowl it’s no choice but CB2.

Of course, just because you DRAFT a guy in the first round doesn't mean that he will be worthy of that pick, especially at 25 or higher.  The value has to be there or you whole premise is faulty from the jump.

I have just checked rosters from last league year for the entire AFC and 1 of the 4 divisions in the NFC so far, and I have only found 14 number 1 picks.  So I'm not at all sure that I'll even find the 27 first round picks which represent the top 32 corners.  And of those 14, there are at least 2 or 3 that are so-so journeymen like Eli Apple who is on his fourth team and now possibly his fifth.

Sorry but I think at 43 and 59 we will likely not get a premium corner. Bad decision.

Sorry, but there is no guarantee you will get a "premium corner" at 25 either.  There is a strong possibility that they will be tapped by 25.  The issue is how much better is the guy you can get at 25 with the guys that are available in the 2nd and 3rd rounds.  If the difference does not warrant the value at 25, you trade back if you can.  And you can use the extra 3rd to get a potential starter in this draft, and use your later picks to move around the board in the second and third rounds.

If the top four corners are off the board at #25, here is a potential trade, down the board, that I think would be ideal for our Bills...

    Falcons get:

    #25 (720)

    #89 (145)

    Zack Moss

    —————-

    Total (865)

    Bills get:

    #43 (470)

    #74 (220)

    #82 (180)

    —————-

    Toal (870)

With this trade, the Bills would have 43, 57, 74, and 82 to address CB, WR, OL, and RB if they wanted to...What do you think? Do you like this scenario, given the circumstance?

Edit: Feel free to remove Zack Moss if you want...I just threw him in because we would likely be upgrading from him...👍

I like the idea of trading back if a value WR or CB is not available at 25.  And I agree that the spot you targeted is generally the sweet spot.  The Colts are another team that could be a potential trade partner at 42 with a good 3rd and possibly an early 5th.  Of course, it goes without saying that you need a motivated team that wants something we don't at 25.

But I agree that it puts us into better value territory for snagging a potentially great WR and a couple of CBs at better value.  I would like us to grab either Chandler Watson or Zac Pierce at WR.  A lot of Mock Drafts have them as 3rd round projections, but they both have size, speed and explosiveness and the overall athletic scores that are at the top percentiles.  Watson is under-valued because he played at North Dakota State and Pierce because he didn't have the production.

I think there will be teams that will recognize this and grab these guys in the second round.  I have my doubts that they even last to 57.  We need an explosive game breaker at WR with speed and size.  I'm not really keen on another little slot guy when you can get speed with size and freak athleticism instead.

Trading back into the low 40's would be a nice spot to grab one of them and maybe get a guy like Darian Kninard at 57 for the interior of the line.  Then use the two 3rd round picks to get at least one corner and possibly a RB or another CB.

But it takes two to tango, so we'll have to see.

No.  Poloncarz said the Pegula's will cover all cost overruns, so they contribute a minimum of $350 million, plus the overruns.  Of course, they may decide to offset those overruns with the seat licenses.

He’s good against man  Coverage by bad CBs. Cole is a zone buster. They are really different players but the offense just changes depending on who they play.

I wasn't comparing him to Cole.  Just saying his performance was great.  I saw the breakdown Cover1 (I think it was them) did on that game and seeing it on film in slow motion was eye-opening to me.  I was at the game, but I thought his work was smart and his effort and execution levels were high.

But, then again, I'm no expert.
