Seriously.... Whos worth our 11th pick?
ropeerasers replied to The_Dude's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't think we have 11 picks this year, but if we do I wouldn't expect whoever we get to be that good since it'd be towards the end of the draft and all. -
Huh? McGee didn't start until his SECOND season when Troy Vincent got INJURED.
-
Absolutely no one is going to offer a 1st for McGee under any circumstance, and it would be more than a slight understatement if you called a 2nd unlikely.

Should we draft a qb every April
ropeerasers replied to auburnbillsbacker's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes, I'm sure we all would like nothing more than to have a QB that is Frerotte-esque -
Correct me if I'm wrong, but by my count the Bill's played eight games against opponents who use the 3-4 as their base defense. In those eight games (against SD, Cleveland, Miami, NYJ and NE) they had an unenviable 1-7 record. I think it's naive to discount that we were 6-2 against all of our other opponents. Now it's not unheard of for something like this to happen. In fact, the Peyton Manning-led Colts have a bit of a history of struggling against the 3-4. So I'm wondering...is this something that can be corrected with time? Does it have anything to do with the fact that we have a relatively young team with a young QB who needs to learn how to read and react to the myriad of different looks the 3-4 offers? Or is this the result of a flaw in our offensive philosophy? Our offense is essentially a modified version of the Vermeil/Martz offense with more emphasis on the run, and that team ultimately fell to the Patriots' 3-4 in Super Bowl XXXVI. I'm not sure of that offense's overall record against 3-4 defenses, though. Or maybe is it the type of players we're employing in our current offense? Should we go for the quicker, more nimble zone blocking type of lineman to combat mobile linebackers featured in a 3-4 defense? Do we need a more seasoned "true" fullback to keep linebackers from shooting the gap on running plays? So without getting into the truly enthralling discussions about how Ralph Wilson eats babies and Dick Jauron has the personality of a baked potato, what do you think our team can do to get better against the 3-4, a.k.a. our Achilles heal?

Assuming that taking away draft picks for player conduct was a real possibility, how long do you think it would be until some @$$hole cop took it upon himself to make sure visiting players got in trouble while they were in his town? And I'm not saying this meaning all or any significant portion of the police force are corrupt. Just saying it only takes one bad apple.

Which blows up the "coming off their bye" theory in more than one way.

Can someone explain this to me?
ropeerasers replied to Bleed Bills Blue's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In his press conference today, Lane Kiffin said they were using a lot of blitz packages that they hadn't shown yet this year. That is probably what they're alluding to. -
This Raiders troll stuff is too great to be real. It's going to get me all excited thinking of the possibility of their being a Rams troll next week, but that's just too much to believe. Mr. Raiders troll, please, please do tell us how great the Raiders are. You're making me exponentially more nervous with every word.

Leodis McKelvin vs. Reggie Corner
ropeerasers replied to Billsfanfourlife's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Maybe you can teach him to speak words, and he can teach you to write words. -
Now that McKelvin is under contract......

My 2008 NFL predictions
ropeerasers replied to Turn Down For Watkins's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why do people keep thinking there will be 259 games to win? I thought each team played 16 regular season games? That's the problem that people seem to have with predicting records. A win-loss record isn't just magically bestowed because of how much talent a team has. There are 256 regular season games a year, and in every single game one team wins and one team loses. If the NFL only had two teams and I thought they were both really, really good, I couldn't logically predict that both teams would go 12-4. -

Somehow there will be more wins than games played this year. -
WR Terry Glenn is expected to sign with the Dolphins.

Some people here can't grasp the proper usage of the idiom "let alone." It is very frustrating. -
If you don't care about what other people think of the QBs, then who are you trying to convince?
-
Will Allen plays for Miami.

Are you a Dolphins fan in disguise or something?

Professional Sports on the Rise and Fall
ropeerasers replied to Tolstoy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's more than just a little. From an international perspective, it's probably the number one on the rise sport right now. It's growing to even rival soccer in it's wide-spread appeal. A lot of people blame the recent Olympic failures on pro-athletes taking it for granted that the gold medal would be bestowed upon them (which is partially true) or the difference in international rules and our reluctance to adapt (also, part true), but the skill of the basketball players around the world has gone through the roof because so many people follow it now. -
I disagree. If we got a couple guys whose parents didn't even bother to name them...well, then it seems to me they might have the right background to be a fullback in the NFL. Hell, I'd have to assume anybody in that situation would be bat-sh-- crazy, and I certainly wouldn't want to ram into him at full speed.

If McKelvin is so Hester-like, does this spell the end for Terrence McGee? -
Derek Fine at the combine! He's not swine, won't ride the pine. It's a good sign. So, drink some wine and watch him shine.

The replies in this thread are extremely disappointing. While they're at it, they should pick Jerome Simpson and bench Evans.
