  1. Scroll down to myth #8. I am not claiming the other guys are any better. I am just curious what Republicans have to say about this. I myself am a hardcore libertarian and believe all the government ought to be involved is police and military.
  2. Bledsoe not surrounded by good talent? Curtis Martin, Terry Glenn, Sean Jefferson, Ben Coates and Bruce Armstrong. Bledsoe had a glut of good receivers in New England. Not to mention the O-line picked it up it's play as soon as Brady was the starter. Brady is one of the slowest QBs in the NFL.
  3. Zach Thomas goes to the Pro Bowl just about every yeard and, yet I am told he misses more tackles than he makes. (I read this in a sporting news preview magazine a few years back). He is always near the top of the league in tackles just about every season, but I think this a subjective stat in that some statisticians will count it as a tackle if someone jumps on the pile at the end of the play. I am confused. Why is Miami wasting so much cap space on this guy? He seems like he should be easy to replace. It has nothing to do with him playing for the Dolphins I will give credit to guys like Jason Taylor, as he is a player.
  4. Bledsoe did about as much as Rob Johnson did in Tampa to earn his ring. It was Brady's team.
  5. Certain People on this board believe that because Drew Bledsoe has high career passing yardage numbers and touchdown passes he is a future Hall of Fame QB. I think that these numbers are simply a result of playing a long time and am curious if people think that longevity should put someone in the Hall of Fame? Drew's highest season for passing yards came in 1994 when he threw for 4555 yards but had 27 interceptions comparred to only 25 touchdowns. I ask you does the td to int ratio put a damper on the passing yards for this season and possibly others? For his career he has 244 td passes compared to 198 ints. I'm not sure how this ratio stacks up against HOFers, but if it is unfavorable does it make the amount of touchdown passes he has thrown less impressive? Vinny Testaverde has thrown for 45252 yards in his career comparred to Drew's 43447. Vinny has 269 td passes comparred to Drew's 244. If Drew goes to the Hall of Fame shouldn't Vinny? If you argue Drew should go and Vinny Shouldn't why? Drew seems like at best an average QB who has played for a long time. I do not want this to be a Drew versus JP conversation. I want it to be enitrely about Drew.
  6. I am not saying Marino took ALOT of sacks. I am saying that he would rather take the sack than throw an incomplete pass. The other Karim Abdul-Jabar was certainly servicable when Jimmy Johnson was there. The run-blocking should have been easy if Marino was as good as he thought he was, as teams would have had their linebackers playing further behind the ball anticipating the pass.
  7. Two supoussed amazing quarterbacks who can't get it done in the clutch are what Manning and Marino are. Are you saying Marino didn't have a defense when Jimmy Johnson was the coach? How many teams are stacked at every position. That is what you seem to be saying. If Dan Marino played on a team that was stacked at every position he would have an SB ring. Many teams win SBs with deficiencies at certain spots. The Ravens come to mind of the top of my head. Elway a Marino clone? Never mind that Elway could get some first downs with his legs. I would Look at the stats before I made a claim like this.
  8. People say a similar thing about Peyton Manning. No wait he had a defense this year. If ifs and butts were candy and nuts we'd all have a merry christmas. Please don't make excuses for people.
  9. I was thinking about the o-line in 2004 and was quite happy with how they played for most of that season. They really started to come together once Ross Tucker was inserted into the starting line up. Willis rushed for about 1100 yards starting in only 11 games. Drew was sacked the fewest time in his career. The starters were; Jennings, Tucker, Teague, Villarriall and Williams. Do the players on the Bills on the o-line now possess significantly less talent than this group? Would you be happy if they matched the level of performance for the final 11 games of 2004? Is it doable with the talent the Bills have now?
  10. Marino never seemed to buy into the team concept. Better for me to take a sack than to throw an incomplete pass was always Danny's mindset because it doesn't hurt his preciuos qb rating. Better for me to throw when teams were expecting the pass than to rush the ball for four or five yards. He wouldn't buy into Jimmy Johnson's way of doing things, even though Johnson has the rings and he doesn't. Do you think Danny boy would have a ring if he was more of a team player? The truly great QBs do both put up great numbers and win championships. For example, Elway and Montana. Rings or stats alone shouldn't make a qb. Lil' Abner er umm Terry Bradshaw has the rings, but I do not know many people who would put him in the same class as Elway or Montana. I noticed you only cited Drew's yardage. How do his other numbers stack up with the greats?
  11. I noticed you forgot the part where I comparred him to Vinny Testeverde. Bledsoe has a big arm and thats about it. Football is a team game. I don't care about individual records. SuperBowls are what counts in football. I know Drew has a SB ring, but that was Brady's team. When was the last time Drew led a team to the playoffs? Don't give me this BS about individual records. Were talking football, not golf or tennis.
  12. I should have explained myself better. I find people to be so fickle. Bledsoe plays a few good games and people think he is a franchise quarterback. It is like it does not matter what he has done over his entire career. The Cowboys had the same record last year as the Bills did in Mularkey's first year. Parcells is a hell of a coach and Bledsoe couldn't even do as much as Quincy Carter in Parcells first season.
  13. I completely agree. Many of my friends claimed the Bills made a mistake, but I always reminded them of his struggles down the streach. Were Oppossing defenses really stupid? Bledsoe is so easy to gameplan against. Blitz the middle of his o-line and force him to the outside. Bledsoe has had maybe 4 good seasons in his career. I forget who, but someone likened his career to vinnie testaverde's. I completely agree.
  14. Not a Sabres fan my man. Bill Bellichick comes up with a new scheme practically every week. His first season in New England they played a 4-3 then when he had the players he switched to a 3-4. It was like when Wade was here he was flexible and switched from a 4-3 to a 3-4 in order to get Cowart on the field or in other words the best players out there. I am not advocating bringing Wade back. I just want someone flexible and maybe Jauron will be; however right now he seems more like Greggo than Bellichick.
  15. The way Marv is running things is very remeniscent of Greggo if you ask me. Marv has an infatuation with the Tampa cover 2 scheme and had to hire Jauron to run it. Greggo had an infatuation with the west coast offense and had to hire Mike Sheppard as the offensive coordinator. I think the west coast offense has been every bit as successful in the NFL as the cover 2; therefore I don't think we can say Marv is smart for hiring a coach that knows how to run a particular scheme. Like I mentioned earlier Jauron is reminding me of Greggo "We're going to make a run at the sack record because I know how to run Buddy Ryan's "46" hybrid." Jauron: "We're going to win because I can coach the cover 2". Systems are just a way tto manage your players.
  16. I say you take the best players and then structure system to the personnel. All this talk reminds me of Gregg Williams' first year: "I'm going to set the league on fire with my "46" hybrid". If Whitner and McCargo were the players that Marv and co. had rated the highest then fine, same as tripplett in free agency. A system is just a way of managing the players that you have. I don't think you go out and get players that "fit the system". You go out and get the best players availible and then tailor a scheme to them.
  17. Mark Word was briefly in the CFL last year. Article.
  18. I'm not saying he is cheap, but I thought some people figured he was cheap based on the whole Wade Phillips thing. Wilson claimed Phillips essentially resigned when he wouldn't fire Ronnie Jones and Wilson wouldn;t pay out the final year of Wade's contract. Wade appealled and was victorious. Not saying I agree he is cheap this is just a reaon why people may say so.
  19. You're sure the Hartford Whalers didn't harpoon him?
  20. I forgot about Derrick Alexander in the 1995 draft. You don't find this trend to be somewhat scary for FSU defensive ends? Read this article.
  21. I know Peter Boulware has been a good player in the NFL, but why would anyone think that Wimbley can play after the huge busts Florida State has produced at defensive end? Andre Wadsworth- bust. Reinard Wilson- bust. Jamal Reynolds-bust. Why would Wimbley be any different from Wadsworth Wilson and Reynolds? Bobby Bowden must have some connections to get his guys drafted highly.
  22. I was also addressing everyone on the board.
  23. I'm glad someone else brought up Wimbley. I know Peter Boulware came out of FSU, but generally FSU defensive ends are huge busts. Andre Wadsworth, Reinard Wilson and Jamal Reynolds. Why would Wimbley be any different from Reynolds, Wilson and Wadsworth?
  24. I see a great offensive mind. I think he certainly deserves credit for what Travis did when he was here. I know he was a fumbler, but he did make it to one Pro Bowl while Fairchild was running backs coach. I also think he deserves some credit Marc Bulger's play, though it could be argue this had more to do with Martz. Also his time in Buffalo shouldn't hurt him.
  25. Thanks for your insight. I guess it was a case of wishful thinking on my behalf Ithought if we had kept Milloy and Adams we were only a Grady Jackson away from having a good defense again.
