not that the talent isnt out there....but the RB position has changed.Used to be the best athlete on the team was the running back...from junior leagues on.You built the team around them. Now the position isnt stressed as much. In those days Tyrod would have been a running back----and a great one.Michael Vick woulda been a great RB. Tebow woulda been a very good FB. Teams would rather get an almost as good RB and spend the real money on other positions.

not laughing. Tiki was a terrific runner.

Games Played and Rushing Year Team GP TC Yds Avg TD Long 1956 HAM 130 832 6.4 3 70 1957 HAM 204 958 4.7 7 57 1958 SASK 235 1254 5.3 5 73 1959 TOR 87 496 5.7 4 69 1960 TOR 14 88 662 7.5 6 74 1961 TOR 12 105 709 6.8 3 67 Cookie.... AND he started at Linebacker where he was an allstar..and returned kicks and kicked PATs and FGs and covered on STs.
-
and in his earlier years he had great speed
-
in his prime yrs he averaged about 10 games per season. he was wracked with injuries. Nothing to completely keep him out..But enough to take him out of the discussion for the greatest lists.at least with Sayers you had some full seasons before his leg was mangled.
-
Spiller was 200LBs but played like he weighed 160.
-
actually no.and was always more of a usc fan than ucla. But the 3 guys i mentioned always had a certain black cloud over them.McNeal because of the injuries.Jackson cuz of the crap franchise he played for and the late start. And Tyler cuz Walsh Freaked out about mistakes /fumbles.
-
He was a helluva RB.Powerful and hit the hole in a split second. btw--great selections so far
-
I'll start with a few here for various reasons. 1.Freeman McNeil--fast RB with great moves.--But so often injured.Tremendous talent. 2.Wendell Tyler-explosive runner .Bill Walsh couldnt stand fumbling--and Tyler did that not much but occasionally. 3.Fred Jackson--How stupid was it that this guy didnt come into the NFL til he was 27?..While not spectacular he was fast, powerful, fundamentally sound(always found the holes and always fell forward for yardage),and great blocker.
-
And he didnt do too much behind the line. once he got past the line and had a free lane he was gone. But part of the discussion when discussing the greats is that the best were unstoppable.jackson could be made a non-factor by bottling up the line. Not with Brown .Brown couldnt really be stopped by any method. With OJ you could bottle up the line but he could still do magic things to break open.Bo Jackson was powerful and incredibly fast but his RB abilities were not in the very top echelon.
-
you are truly nuts if you think that bo jackson was anywhere near as good as Jim Brown.thats laughable.
-
98% of people who watched Barry sanders play will say that Jim Brown was the better running back. Not that they dont think Barry was amazing.....but come on man..
-
he didnt hit his stride cuz they werent giving him the effing ball. remember when the geniuses had him returning kick offs??(7 returns for 333 yds by the way)
-
55 yrs watching football... 1.Jim Brown 2.OJ Simpson,Gayle Sayers,Earl Campbell 3.Eric Dickerson,Barry Sanders,Cookie Gilchrist,Walter Payton 4.There are about 15-20 RBs tied at a close 4th incl adrian peterson,Ladanian Tomlinson,Marshall Faulk,Fred Taylor

4th and 15 from 35 is too easy. make it 4th and 20. For the rule to work the attempt should fail 80% of the time. good point
-
easy boy.....ever hear of kellen winslow? very interesting...people waiting for a 41 yr old qb to decline on the field.. he shoulda been suspended for the year with that hit...but the pats live by different rules

Antonio Brown on Instagram trashing Bills!
Tcali replied to BillsDiehard's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
well that would be a game of major import -
What do you think the Bills record will be this season?
Tcali replied to BmarvB's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
All depends on Allens decisions and touch/accuracy. If he hasnt improved much then 7-9 or 8-8 because of solid vets like Gore and better WRs and OL. If everything clicks for Allen then 10-6 or 11-5. Realistically 8-8.
