  1. author James Lee Burke..--there are so many--so I'll just give you one title-LAST CAR TO ELYSIAN FIELDS
  2. Was just talking with my dad--who is a fair classical pianist and of the generation of Gould etc. He definitely echoes your feelings re: Gould. He also recalls seeing Ashkenazy,Isaac Stern and 'some other famous guy' play some Brahms trios at a packed auditorium in Miami in the early to mid eighties.--Ashkenazy came running into the auditorium at the last moment wearing a black cape with a red velvet lining....My dad is guessing that they may have just sat down together cold..thats the command of the music that they had.
  3. Good vs Evil...we have to make choices between the two every day. And the first is usually the tougher choice.
  4. is that really true? thats quite amazing actually
  5. 2 have read it!!...7-9 in 09--take it to the bank
  6. hehe-- ..my dad told me that when Horowitz was coming to town that the ad for him in the paper would be one word..HOROWITZ-in the classified section ..along with time and place of course.
  7. Sheesh i was doing it too..Thanks for the heads up.And I'm a language snob to boot.
  8. I listen for about 2-3 days twice a year when i am in town. I enjoy them.
  9. ohh...he wasnt a QB?? hehe--I do remember that pass though
  10. QB--I remember that one sunday where he won a game for us with a couple TD passes I think.
  11. Although Trent doesn't have a strong arm I do agree with your assessment. The arm is strong enough. And combined with his accuracy and cool in the pocket -makes for a pretty darn good QB for a 3rd year guy. Yes-he needs to develope patience for the long routes...and he does need to improve some of his decision making re: throwing the ball away-solving the taking big losses/the wasting time on end of half drives/the opening himself up to the head shots.
  12. An amazing talent. Some claimed he was mildly autistic. Another fave classical pianist of that generation was Van Cliburn.
  13. I'd lean toward the 84 Niners...but I don't think there is a hairs difference betw the great niners teams of the 80s/90s and the Cowboy teams of the early 90s.Teams can never be that good again of course because of the salary cap. Those teams were phenomenal on both sides of the ball.
  14. you can wrack up a million dollar hospital bill in 2 months--without superextraordinary measures being taken. After that 2 months you can emerge as a functioning healthy person. You can bust a lot of bones and have some internal injuries requiring a few surgeries and mucho hospital time.-Million bucks---snap of a finger. -I don't think that is a case where pulling the plug is remotely an issue. -A friend of mine--his kid took a header off of a skateboard.Massive concussion.# months in the hospital--touch and go whther he was gonna live for about 2 weeks because of swelling in the brain.--He is now out of the hospital and is functioning at 90% mentally and 70%physically.-Again not an issue. .----But even if he was significantly disabled from the injury he needs to be taken care of.And the insurance company needs to fulfill their obligation.
  15. no. You get insurance one day and the next day you get hit by a truck and need a million dollars in medical care you should get the million in medical care.
  16. yeah ..she is just ridiculously hot...-and the whole symbolism...-if she gets to the olympics she'll be worth 100 mil
  17. Thats true..I just threw Jackson in there because he is playing great ball. I didn't nominate him.
  18. right now Jackson is playing fantastic ball. Im not compatring him to Turman career wise. Im just saying Freddie is playing terrific ball---and that he is not MILES behind Thurmal at this point in time. Thats all. Thurmal all the way.
  19. Yeah agree. but Jauron coaches to not lose. And we know how that usually turns out.As someone mentioned earlier in the thread-the Hooded One would have gone for the yard.
