  1. he reminds me of buddy ebsen on the beverly hillbillys. great dialogue on that show.
  2. good guy ..-not a very good football player---but he works hard--and he is a millionaire!
  3. i feel the same way about famous athletes--dime a dozen
  4. Loved Cedar Rapids. I recommend ADAM AND PAUL---Irish movie set in Dublin about 2 drug addicts. Its very very good.
  5. John Lennon--walked by him on street in NY-gave him the cool nod--he nodded back--just couldnt stop him and do the swooning slobbering thing Judy Carne--saw her in restaurant in London LBJ--Buff airport 1965 Ann Coulter-ran into her on street in NY Miles Davis--was at a party he was at...sheesh that was surreal Dave Brubeck--at a restaurant in Buffalo--
  6. i agree. and the europeans have it down. american kids are not ready to drink at a young enough age. a friend of mines folks were from italy--and when i went to their house(at about age 12) i got this massive(like the old gas station glass) full of wine served to me at dinner.I guzzled it like any other drink. I dropped the plate of food in my lap.-I blame that on my parents.
  7. 2nd to OJ and equal to Bruce--Cookie was --as I just mentioned tied for 2nd as the greatest talent to ever play for Buffalo.Quality over quantity. Briscoe(notice he wasnt in my top ten) was a uniquely talented player so far ahead of his time it isn't even funny. In today's game he would be all-pro at QB or WR.-I'm not comparing Kelly to him.
  8. 1.OJ Simpson 2.Bruce Smith 3.Cookie Gilchrist 4.Jim kelly 5.Billy Shaw 6.Joe D 7.Robert James 8.Tom Sestak 9.Thurman Thomas 10.Kent Hull w many apologies to fat Ted Washington,Elbert Deubenion,Bobby Chandler,JD Hill,Andre Reed,George Saimes,Jack Kemp,Pete Metzellars, Joe Ferguson, Steve Tasker,Marlin Briscoe,Jerry Butler. -OJ,Bruce,Joe D,Cookie,Billy Shaw,Steve Tasker,Robt James,Kent Hull and Ted Washington had legit claims at some point during their careers as being the very best in the league at their position. Kelly was never the best QB and Thurman was never the best RB but they were so consistently good for such a long time that they deserve top 10 status.
  9. Why did the Russian people revolt in 1917?? They found out that The Tsar and The Czar were the same person.
  10. I was not very high on Newton..But he certainly surprised me his rookie year. The stuff the guy wrote in the scouting report...was...well..-should have been couched in more rspectful language. I don't have a problem with a guy being honest with an opinion .Speculating on what the results of his being on your team;esp in such a negative manner crosses the line a bit .
  11. as was mentioned earlier in the thread....VY almost single handedly won the national championship for tex with very smart, athletic and instinctual plays.he also won a lot of games for tennessee. i dont doubt he has some maturity issues. and i wouldnt be thrilled if we brought him in as THE starting QB. but the alternative is having absolutely no chance to do anything if Fitz goes down.it could be a lot of fun watching him this year.
  12. go to Reno and bet against the raiders...thats my advice.
  13. good move---at least we have a chance to win a game if fitzy goes down
  14. rugby is a lot like playing football in the park or backyard as a kid.the guy doing the tackling knows hes gonna suffer just as much as the tacklee. spearing almost non-existent.and-- probbly the old time leather football helmet guys were in better shape after retirement than the modern football players.
  15. maybe the terms were better than Buddy imagined Mr Modrak? Mr Donahoe?
  16. Romanowski always seemed to be the type of flaming a576hole who beat up 98 pound weaklings in high school. Now I could be wrong.--But what a sick chemical nightmare that man was.
  17. I could imagine it...but he woulda wiffed on Welker(short guy eyes in the back of his head) and Gronk wouldn't have budged an inch.
  18. Thanks for keeping it real around here. IF,however, we somehow hit a homer with malcolm chadley hadham or the guy called tank; then we could possibly have a sick little defense here. But with what we have starting at LB---we could possibly be upper 1/3 in the league if the Williams bros avoid injury. they should play better--but I don't like a scenario where other people have to be better in order for players to even look like NFL starters.
  19. I remember Dudley.massive guy--played a lot as the main backup to Day,McDole,Dunaway and sestak. Ben Williams...-very underrated.I think he was better than Schoebel.--Just not the right era for Ben.
  20. very cool memory with Cribbs there--thumbs up! I remember we were moving--this was 1966--i was just a youngin----and Billy Shaw came over to look at the house-I remember being in awe--and thinking that he looked like Hoss on BONANZA
  21. 8-8 or 9-7. Avg QB...poor LB...Avg OL...Avg WR still---much improvement over last year-good job Buddy
  22. solid LB combo?......sheppard?..morrison?.....-ok now we're getting silly. lets hope tank and others in the mid rounds work out,..that yes fitzy plays within his significant physical limitations, and that the out for '11 williams boys stay healthy.
  23. at 6' 7" 10 LBs isnt a big difference. Wait til training camp....
