The Next Pandemic: SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19

I have no idea what the number is but for their sake especially, the rest of us need to get the shot. -
The Next Pandemic: SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19
Sundancer replied to Hedge's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Most people don’t care if someone chooses not to get vaccinated and dies. The open issue at this point is using health care resources unnecessarily. If you’ve chosen to skip the vaccine and get sick, die in your hole so health care workers and the health system don’t get bogged down. And of course spreading the disease to people who can’t get vaccinated is an even worse outcome of the decision to skip getting the vaccine. * *for SoCal’s benefit, this excludes people with a medical reason who cannot get vaccinated and those who already had Covid. -

I agree with you that there is a very limited number of people who can justify not getting vaccinated and the rest are stupid. Get a shot and stop hurting your fellow Americans. Doesn’t seem that hard. -

The current top 10: If you have a medical reason for not getting the shot, by all means don't get it. Otherwise, it's stupid. Cartoon was right in the 30s and is right 90 years later. -

The people currently using healthcare resources are unvaccinated. It's selfish and irresponsible because not only can they spread to others who may not be able to get vaccinated, they are using the limited healthcare resources. I don't personally care if they choose to die but I'd prefer they didn't take down others with them and not put others in need of healthcare resources at risk -

You were probably here on October 17 too. UK now at 70% of their peak. You can’t be serious. Trump is assuredly not pushing the vaccine. Did you see him get the shot or did we find out weeks later he got it? Has he calmly and rationally put out PSAs advising people to get it? Helping advise a community of his followers that it will help them and others if they get the vaccine. No and no. Trump has not helped with vaccine messaging. That’s a fact. -
Georgia election laws and MLB

The sitting president refused to accept a democratic election and fomented protests and a Capitol invasion on the day of certification and you don’t think “he handled it well.” Yes but that’s a different topic. There were something like 70 lawsuits filed and none found anything to merit any changes. I don’t care what some guy “flippantly” says on Twitter. They couldn’t prove anything in court and got embarrassed trying to do so. -

Do you believe that a sitting president who lost an election repeatedly calling that election a fraud and crime is no threat to our country or democracy? -

Healthcare workers being pulled to work with unvaccinated Covid folk and other patients who need medical care would like a word on this. -

Plenty of states will raise mask mandates, close schools, limit restaurants. I pray to lord Neptune and all the Hindu gods that I’m wrong but I doubt it. My governor will lower the boom the moment someone sneezes. -

Had a nice long dip but the last two days have us back at mid May numbers with Florida leading the way. Expect more shutdowns by September in time for school. -

Many scientists have been tracking variants since the beginning. It’s an active field. Only a few have become prevalent enough to become dominant, and these have been getting the Greek letter designations. But their more technical variant identifiers are things like B.617 etc. -

That’s the theory Rogan pushes but it’s not got much science backing. I also take D and am outside a fair amount so I’m not against it. (If you do happen to get your data from that woman Rogan has on, she has some stuff way wrong. Topic for some other thread. I like that lady but she advocates way pst the science and overlooks some serious issues in some conclusions she draws. ) Meanwhile: “Dr. Rochelle Walensky, director of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, gave similar numbers during a White House briefing last week. In fact, more than 99% of US Covid-19 deaths in June were among unvaccinated people. In addition, early data suggests that over the last six months, nearly all Covid-19 deaths in a number of states have been in unvaccinated people, Walensky said last week during a White House briefing.” -

The Delta variant is the predominant variant in the UK for sure, but why are the other countries in the EU (see the chart) seeing no rise. They have the Delta variant too. And so does the US. Are we all just behind the UK? I don't have those answers (and neither do you). I just find it curious and wonder why more credible people aren't talking about this oddity. Put it another way: Is what's happening in the UK coming to the US, or will we be more like continental Europe. I agree with Johnson's tactic. The people who don't want the vaccine in the UK made their bed. Now some will die in it. And yes it will take out some immuno-compromised, maybe give some kids long term problems or even kill a few. But those are the eggs you break to get society back to functional. -

The "story" was based on a remark that Fauci made in a hearing where he estimated that 50-60% of the CDC employees were fully vaccinated in May. Somehow folks with agendas turned that into 50% of CDC employees refused the vaccine. We are getting somewhere. Now fact check the VAERs data about people dying "from" the vaccine and that statement goes away too. -

People still quoting that VAERS data tells you what you need to know about critical thinking. The rest of his "conclusions" are in a similar vein. "Now let's contact trace and see who you exposed."
