It's Time to Mandate Vaccines
Sundancer replied to The Frankish Reich's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
You’re blaming the border for US Covid. I’d say you’re in some partisan whirlpool. To relieve problems in hospitals related to Covid, there’s an easy fix. Get vaccinated. Fixing our border problems, if such a thing was somehow possible, isn’t fixing Covid hospitalizations. -

If it was open, sure. The border continues to be a disaster but that predates March 2020. Stay on target. It was great fun to be with Bills fans despite the lackluster game. -

How big is all this mRNA research going to be? Very, especially for those who believe in science, who must not frequent this board. I care because widespread vaccination gets my at risk relatives out of this. I also care because getting vaccinated shows a modicum of common sense. I also care because the unvaccinated are bogging down our health care system. I care because people are dying. But besides that I’m cool. I’ll be at the game tomorrow. -

Panama, Brazil, Argentina already passed the US. Here are the next countries to pass us. USA USA USA Nice work anti vaxxers and vax skeptics. Why don't you care about older and at risk people, who are dying in shocking numbers from Covid? Did you fight this hard for democracy on January 7th? I am sorry RE your sister and have no doubt that people who have legitimate medical reasons to not get it don't have to. That's a small group of people. Very small. -

It's only divided if you obsess about stupid crap. Be grateful for what we have. You're debating people on a football message board. Biden's mandate is a joke. It will fail. Maybe at some point post Bush Obama Trump Biden, we will start reigning in executive overreach. Maybe. -

When they discovered the polio vaccine, there were mass celebrations. They discover a vaccine that pretty much ends a virus that has killed more people than all the major wars of the 20th century and people are calling it a hoax and refuse to take it. PROGRESS? Let's do Canada for how well vaccines work today. -

Hard to take your Internet credentials seriously when you say stuff like the underlined. But you're also the guy who says that vaccines don't work for most people after 6 months, which no one says. With all your access, you'd think you'd have seen this study. I assume with all your access, you can read the actual thing but here's a simple graph from it. https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2021.08.30.21262701v1 -

How to get herd immunity 101. Vaccines work lesson #7856443. #2 has a lot of problems in the way you phrased it. First, Vaccinated people's viral load decreases faster than unvaccinated, making the vaccine better for that. Second, viral load in someone who is vaccinated's nose =/= spreading at the same rate as an unvaccinated person. If were after large scale immunity/asymptomatic people, the safest way to get there is through vaccines. No doubt. Get vaccinated. Get your kids vaccinated. But by all means don't listen to me. Ask your doctor. Not the outlier doc you found on Twitter, but the doc you go to when you need a doc. See what they say. If you think you know better than him, listen to yourself for a second: You don't. -

The most fear-mongering of fear-spreaders runs here with a story on mu. Ever look at its prevelance vs delta? Nah, you wouldn't have done that little bit of thinking. Looking at Colombia's numbers? Nah. Just here to spread bad info, your MO. -

You've again jumped to your topic: Attacking CNN for its bias. That's fine and I agree with it. But you're avoiding my topic. This is whataboutism. -

You want to talk Israeli policy or science? I've already loaded you up on the science and continue to do so. And you still have never, not once, backed up your line that vaccines don't work past 6 months for most people. -
DeSantis For President in 2024?

I cannot fathom why you think this wave is going to spare northern states. The vax rates between say PA (55%) and FL (53%) are not that different. Maryland (62) and NY (60) are higher. As we've gone along, it seems like countries that land in the 70% range fully vaccinated are doing well. Ireland is at 90%--go Irish. -

That's idiotic. There are plenty of therapeutics that have scientific backing that people support. Hydrochloroquine got way out ahead on Twitter only to come back to earth when studies got done. Ivermectin has at least the same Twitter MD support at the moment. But go ahead and get on with your conspiracy of control thing. I hope Ivermectin turns out to be the miracle treatment we've all wanted. But I'll wait for some scientific consensus before lauding it as such, especially as a legion of Rogan-disciples (I like Joe, listen to his podcast BTW, but he's often batshit nuts) follow him down this road. You should try out your line that "vaccines don't work for the most part beyond 6 months" next time you see him. Should prompt a stellar misinformation discussion. -

You're comparing how CNN treated Trump vs. Biden. You're right--CNN is biased--but that was not my point. My point was comparing CNN criticizing Biden harshly vs how Fox never attacked Trump. This is a media thread and I'm noting the media difference. The CNNs of the world will turn their guns more slowly on Biden but they will be happy to blow him up. Fox would never turn their guns on Trump or the next Trumps. -

They are idiots and irrelevant to the mandate discussion. More evidence vaccines work even vs long covid symptoms. Peer reviewed, 1M subjects. https://www.statnews.com/2021/09/01/vaccination-reduces-risk-long-covid-even-when-people-are-infected-study/ People who are fully vaccinated against Covid-19 appear to have a much lower likelihood of developing long Covid than unvaccinated people even when they contract the coronavirus, a study published Wednesday indicated. The research is among the earliest evidence that immunization substantially decreases the risk of long Covid even when a breakthrough infection occurs. Already, researchers had said that by preventing many infections entirely, vaccines would reduce the number of cases of long Covid, but it wasn’t clear what the risk would be for people who still got infected after vaccination. “We found that the odds of having symptoms for 28 days or more after post-vaccination infection were approximately halved by having two vaccine doses,” researchers wrote in the study, published in the journal The Lancet Infectious Diseases. “This result suggests that the risk of long Covid is reduced in individuals who have received double vaccination, when additionally considering the already documented reduced risk of infection overall.” ... The new research had limitations, the authors acknowledged. It was based on people self-reporting their test results and vaccination status. The sample of people who participated also included more women than men and disproportionately few people from “more deprived areas” of the country. It also did not determine any differences by race and ethnicity. -

At least the left media is lambasting Biden for his Afghanistan disaster. I await the attack of the right wing media on Trump for well, anything. Both are biased but seemingly one can be pulled out of its ratings desire to go after its own. -

I do like seeing a group of men, some with no understanding of female biology like @Over 29 years of fanhood, discuss abortion. And no, I'm not saying that men should have no say but I am saying that it's always funny to watch a group of all males do it. -

You have adequately demonstrated zero understanding of how often women miss their periods and some of the common whys (your first and only suggested reason being menopause: hilarious). -

You made an idiotic statement about women's biology and 2 sentences later said science should drive decisions. If you want science to drive, have a basic understanding of it. -

I'm not offended by your lack of knowledge of women's biology. I just suggest that you should understand it if you're going to use it to justify a law.
