How about Harvey or Rodgers with our first pick...
LynchMob23 replied to BravinSeattle's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It would be great Bravin to get the players...but that's a waste of a lot of draft picks...JP's deal cost us that when most years it wouldn't. Look at the Quinn deal - a 2nd that year and a 1st this year. That 5th shouldn't even be needed. Heck, some teams even just threw a first next year out for the right to use someone else's first this year (or second in the case of Tony Ugoh). We can get them without losing that much in picks. I hope. -
does it matter kelly ran 4.68?
LynchMob23 replied to truth on hold's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Mike, I'd call it a tantrum, because (and you can correct me if I'm wrong) if this was a real world situation I would not be able to throw my briefcase twice, blame the test the employer gave me and imply they wanted me to fail in the first place. If he were just upset I'd be completely fine with it; but the fact he threw his shoes...yelled at his strength and conditioning staff - a staff he hasn't worked with since he went to the Chip Smith training facility I might add - and threw a guy like Bob Stoops, who has been known as one of the "good guys" of College football to the curb. If he's there after the first round, sure let's get him and hope he's going to mature. But he did a lot to un-do the character work he'd set up. -
Bad knees are relative - Lee has two reconstructed knees if I recall from his pre draft notes...he's done alright for himself in the league. As well as the former malcontent that was in the pro bowl at running back. Youtube can show how good his knees used to be...

To me, getting Kelly as a LATE 2nd or 3rd round pick would be ideal. The speed thing doesn't matter to me - the tantrums, blaming his coaching staff, medics, surface (which isn't used in the NFL anymore anyway) and talking about how much money his school cost him...That drops him the extra round. Did we ever hear that Limas Sweed lost it on Texas? Heck, I was jumping down Hardy's throat on a post, but he at least owned up to the fact his coach called him out on his behavior before his passing. Malcolm has just done the reverse - set himself up as a high character guy and then adversity hits...and he crumbles.

A few quick things: 1. Hardy isn't on our team already, Roscoe is. Because of that, we have to deal with Roscoe's problem. We don't have to add Hardy's. 2. Astro, #96 cannot be traded. It's a comp pick. 3. Personally, I'd rather have the one-legged WR from Oklahoma or the one-hit wonder from Michigan State or the one-working wrist from Texas than the undisputed champ of one-year old boxing on this team.

NFL Network's Mike Mayock has Buffalo selecting DRC...

I disagree with you there PG. If the Cover/Tampa 2 is just run support and then occassional "other" coverages, then why would a guy like Ronde Barber lead CBs in NFL history with sacks? I think we've gotten into the habit of pidgeon-holing what this scheme can do, based on some of the talent at the time used. Traditionally, any T2 team will run the defense as you described, what, a quarter of the time? Especially since we have signed guys like James now who said Perry will use what we have. We have a guy in Stroud that can two-gap and still blow up a guard/center double team in pass rush mode. If we get another big body and make it a 5 man rotation with like a Red Bryant or Rubin, we're not dumping the Tampa 2, we're just changing the front it's being run in. Look at the Cowboys game and the usage of "the creep". That's something that years ago Kiffin said was possible, as he believes the Tampa scheme can be used from any front - it's all about knowing your job. The more talented players we get into the scheme, the more variance I think we'll see. JMO. -

I'm down for Atlanta! -
Just because we're using a FB doesn't mean we're scuttling the H-Back Position. The Redskins have two Fullbacks, an H-Back (now mentioned as TE) in Cooley and about 2 other tight ends, and these are guys that were on the team last year to begin with. Now Neufeld may be gone, but I doubt that Schouman will be.
-
Douche-baggery aside, thanks for the comments. I didn't make this thread to talk purely about tight ends, I made it because I remembered that when Price was on the field, a lot of the time they said he ran a mirror route supposedly to force the safety(ies) to make a choice as to him or Evans to cover deep. If they ran those with moderate success (most notably the Texans game) why not look for someone who is a similar build to Evans OR perhaps a bigger wideout that can separate? Just trying to get away from the negativity that may at times take away from one of the better Bills boards on the net. But apparently even that was a bit a foolish thought...

Hey y'all. I was just listening to the Opening Drive on Sirius, with Randy Cross and Carl Banks. They took a caller, who was a 'Skins fan that mentioned they wanted a big receiver. From there, Banks asked the caller what exactly this "big receiver" was needed to do, because if it's just jump-balls in the redzone, without an ability to separate he'll be a walking offensive PI outside of it. Banks' point was that if you want a bigger receiver you don't necessarily get the guy that's 6'3, 6'4. You need a guy with separation ability and if you look at teams like the Chargers, their big wr for the longest was Antonio Gates. Now they have Jackson doing well, but that's because he can roam a lot more freedom thanks to Gates. So what do you think, TBD bretheren (and sisteren?) ? In the draft, do you think that will give flexibility to get a "bigger" TE like Bennett or Rucker and smaller person like an Avery (who has been said to be a Lee Evans clone)? Just looking for non-april fools' convo...

Kraft doesn't believe Walsh has anything
LynchMob23 replied to Willis990's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It was in St Petersburg. Putin asked to see it, Kraft gave it to him and then Putin walked away. It was hilarious, as I was in the area for work and once I saw it was Kraft, who then declared he gave it as a gift for the country of his forefathers...I laughed and laughed! -
Draft Tek Runs a Sim of Bills TradeDown

Moffit has character issues as well Astro - http://www.sptimes.com/2008/01/03/Sports/L...offitt_s_.shtml "He is living a lie," she said. "He’s lying to everyone. He’s not helping (us) with anything." Their marriage of five years has deteriorated to the point that Shauna, 26, made public Thursday a larger allegation, saying that she had taken multiple online courses for her husband and written papers for his college classes to keep him eligible to play football" -
Astro, Funny you should mention Chase, as he is training with the currently-absent Schobel in Texas if memory serves!

Trent Edwards video at the 07 draft
LynchMob23 replied to The Tomcat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The best story is the one about the two offensive linemen who were fighting each other as Edwards got sacked. Now that is something straight out of a sitcom! -
FYI: Rule changes under consideration
LynchMob23 replied to stuckincincy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's only in Madden. In the real NFL a team (I think maybe the Jets) tried to defer but wound up kicking twice. -

Appreciated. Take a look at this from the Dolphins game, you can see it on two of the TDs. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l7IEupyDc2Y -
He has a bone on bone knee condition. But for a seventh? Really? I'd get him and have a 6 man DT Rotation (Him, Stroud, McCargo, Williams, Johnson at times and draft pick). We'd have a nose, a one tech, a 1/3 hybrid in McCargo, Johnson could play all the positions on the line a 3 tech in Robertson...

Trent Edwards video at the 07 draft
LynchMob23 replied to The Tomcat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Part of the reason his throws are at times underthrown deep is that he doesn't follow through with his feet. If you look at any of the videos of him throwing deep, his right foot is always up in a little kick-like motion. If he can learn to keep that on the ground, he'll gain 5-7 yards a throw. I'm not pulling this out of my butt btw - I went to the Nike COY clinic in pittsburgh and the QB coach for the Browns has the same problem at times mostly with Anderson and sometimes with Quinn. -
Who thinks drafting a CB in 1st is pass D priority?
LynchMob23 replied to Pyrite Gal's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think that a corner that is like Reggie Smith out of Oklahoma that is GOOD at playing Safety or Corner and not just a corner that might play safety or vice versa, then we pick one up - but round two would be my target. I think if you get a guy like that you open your Defense (Cover 2, Tampa 2 or whatever you want to run) to as many packages as the offense will throw out at you, without sacrificing a linebacker or being fundamentally sound. -
NFL Network's Mike Mayock reports that Malcolm Kelly
LynchMob23 replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Gonna beg to differ on Sweed not being physical. The kid stiff-arms like a sonofagun and from what I've seen in a few years of watching him in college (not every game to be fair) he wasn't TO, but he wasn't ducking passes over the middle. -
Ok, I went back 5 drafts to try and gauge the importance
LynchMob23 replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Last time we drafted for a number 2/1a receiver, we did pretty well. In fact, he pissed our number 1 off and he had to peace out! -
Astro, This is a crazy idea, but can they sim a draft where we single-handedly screw up the Broncos? I know the Eagles are thinking about a lineman in round one if they could get ahead of the run post top 5 picks, and in the second they like Earl Bennett. If we swapped one and two and got their three and four (or whatever is adequate compensation) we would ensure by round they would get who they want AND we get more picks...oh and we hurt Denver's chances of getting who they want.
