Ralph Had A Window To Make Biggest Statement!!!!!
LynchMob23 replied to BuffaloBaumer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wilson's plane never made it to Buffalo, due to the high winds. -
Thanks for the correction.

Dolphins used it with Welker and got two picks I believe out of it. Spikes was acquired (granted pre-hutchinson) by us with the transition tag. It's a good way to see who is truly interested and the NFL has been frowning on the 'poison pill' contract-wise...
-
They can always designate him the Transition Tag Player, which is the top 10 players' average. You of course can still lose him by not matching an offer sheet, but you can do the sign and trade deal just like a franchise tag...

Actually, they don't. There is a provision in the rule that allows for someone within the current staff to be tabbed as the successor.

So The AP Reports Ralph Wilson
LynchMob23 replied to BuffaloBaumer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Per the audio interview, Overdorf was mentioned as the guy that ran the football side. Also, Modrak came up to Ralph and mentioned that he saw a great QB in the draft (Cutler) and the reason they didn't take him is because "they had Losman already". That goes into the end of the quote, in which he says, 'In the report, Wilson is said to be giving a bigger role to Tom Modrak, adding the chief scout to his "inner circle." “You have to read some tea leaves when you talk to Ralph some times. He references Tom several times as someone he’d have to ‘lean on,’” Wawrow said. Wilson told Wawrow that Modrak loved Jay Cutler, but that the Bills already had J.P. Losman. “Ralph said that he believes that Tom Modrak has identified some of their best players,” Wawrow said.' One more thing from the interview - Ralph is still mad about losing Pat Williams. He said that he never wants to see that happen again (a good Bill leaving the team because of haggling). So that should be hope for a Peters extension... -
So The AP Reports Ralph Wilson

FWIW, apparently Modrak has just set the board and everything that goes on in the draft, while consensus had been under the choice of Donahoe, Levy and then Jauron. Modrak I guess voiced his opinion of taking Cutler in the draft, but Levy and Jauron went with Whitner. http://www.wgr550.com/Jauron-is--safe-/3545456 http://audio.wgr550.com/m/audio/21707187/t...-simon-show.htm So, put the pitch forks and such away until the draft. Then continue the mob.... -

Albert Haynesworth UFA thanks to PROWBOWL Nomination
LynchMob23 replied to Poeticlaw's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Also one thing with Albert that goes back to his college days - he's performed the best when money (the nfl draft, free agency) is on the line. Until then (take a look back) he has been okay. The Titans fear last year was that if they give him 9-10 mil a year, will he play up to it, eat himself out of the league or just be bleh..... Thoughts? -
The Giants, Titans, Eagles, Vikings, Bears, Colts, Bucs, Panthers, Ravens (at times), Jags and heck even the Texans have done a good job with the 4-3. We just need a few more playmakers.

Albert Haynesworth UFA thanks to PROWBOWL Nomination
LynchMob23 replied to Poeticlaw's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He had 3 other clauses in his contract that would guarantee him his free agency, 2 of which I think he had already surpassed or was close prior to his injury. Food for thought wrt his contract - we already have to pay Peters 9-10 Mil a year...do you really think Ralphie will pay 10 on the other line too? AND...Stroud will want an extension now. Bank on it. -
Alex Mack isn't the be-all end all at C this year. Eric Wood, Unger (who I really think can be a phenom at Center for a team), Luigs and Caldwell are all good centers. But at 12? Unless it's a the late late first round, he's not getting picked. And that's not a knock on him - look at all the underclassmen that are thought to declare this year out of fear of the CBA changing the wage structure for rookies. Teams can go for impact pass rushers, wideouts, corners, guards and tackles that wouldn't be there and then count on Mack in the mid 2nd or even the 3rd.
-
As much as he was touted as the best center in the draft, he's actually 2 or 3. Unger out of Oregon is a little bigger and can also play all three line positions, with Center his best bet. Also there's Caldwell, Luigs and the dude out of Louisville that have dealt with size in their careers. Also, in FA you have Birk, Saturday and my personal fave on the Ravens Jason Brown - 26, goes against the 3-4 in his division (and his own team). If we are at 12, we gotta get either a pass rusher in the form of a DE or a LB. Heck, if Mount Cody is there at 12, I say take him!

A Few Thoughts About The Game
LynchMob23 replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
WRT to the post flag - people react differently and they're grown men. Even guys on Cowher's old teams would laugh and just avoid Cowher's screams (see Porter, Joey) and then all would be well if they won. No big deal. Team-wise, I agree, at this point Jauron has done what he can - the talent is now there...but we don't have the coaches to succeed. -
Fred Jackson | RB TEAM: Buffalo Bills HEIGHT/WEIGHT: 6'1' / 215 DOB: 2/20/1981 AGE: 27 COLLEGE: Coe CONTRACT INFO: 2008: $370,000, 2009: Exclusive Rights Free Agent http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpag...Nfl&id=4506

Fred I think is an ERFA - so he can either re-sign with us, or no one. At 27, we can use this as an opportunity to effectively lock him up for his career (or at least until a shade after 30) or a year and then tender him as a RFA. Then you just have to wait a year Bill to see if they use a pick they may get from him on a db.

We tried to sign him when Jauron first got hired...went to Jags instead. May be worth a look?

What about the kick Lindell made to beat the Skins last year? Or the one against the Raiders?

It had said that a minute ago...must've been mistaken.

Some observations about Edwards' passing stats
LynchMob23 replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
To be fair though, a good reason we were behind in the Rams game was Hardy's inability to catch two or three balls in a row to him at the line. And Royal every year has a great catch followed by a fumble on the same play - so a lot has to do with trust in said players...
