  1. At this point, it doesn't matter who was right about what qb, what record a gm who no longer works here had, what our current coach says/does. We all know this road ends with Jauron being fired. We all know that at this point Trent's not the golden star we wanted. We don't know who is going to choose our next head coach. If it is Brandon, let's actually give him a shot, since he's one of the few people in the building that knows how to sell to the fans. If anything, he's the only one smart enough to realize that a re-tread won't sell. A hotshot might, but he'd better be a solid offensive guru.
  2. The safety they signed while Whitner and Scott were hurt most likely.
  3. The reason he listed all of the people he did and not the list that you provided is that the majority (save Richard Seymour) are all RFAs this year under the CBA. So you cannot just out-bid a team for them, because their team will put a 1st and 3rd on most of them and at the least a 2nd round pick, assuming they don't match you (and with no salary cap they can do so easily). There's not going to be a "this guy or that guy" because without a cap, SD can sign both as RFAs, re-sign both or just use them as trade bait. At this point, some owners may opt for the cap free year just so they can cut a ton of people without the cap ramifications and lower the floor for vets lower. And all four linemen you mentioned offensively, have less than 6 years accrued so they would be RFAs as well.
  4. One of the reasons Hangartner has been terrible has been his attempts to assist Wood and Levitre at times in their blocking. As they mature, rest assured you will see the interior as a complete asset rather than individual parts.
  5. I think even if we got a bigger Nose to go with Williams and Stroud, we just need a more stout lb corps and the 4-3 would be fine. Heck, at this point if we went 3-4, we'd need bigger thumpers anyway - why not just add one more and set the backers?
  6. Really, you shouldn't look at Hardy vs Jackson. You should compare Jackson to Parrish - because they are in effect the same kind of receiver. However Roscoe has never aspired via precise routes, run blocking, etc. to be as good as Jackson is in his second year.
  7. FWIW, it's not the Tampa 2 that's killing the defense - one gap defense is always a good thing to play. It's Jauron's spin on it having guys play cover 4 behind it. So it's like his version - a Tampa 4 if you will. If you had a guy like Frasier or anyone from Dungy's tree we'd see the difference.
  8. Kudos to Kugler for wanting to get Meredith. No penalties, no sack credited to him and he did okay in his first service in the NFL.
  9. Byrd's the word - let's get some more pass rush and watch him soar!
  10. Well when your HC tells you he can go with the line, what are you supposed to do? (Besides get a new coach...which will happen anyway)
  11. Don't forget Tim Hiller, Western Michigan - http://scores.espn.go.com/ncf/player/gamel...5&year=2005 He's I believe 2 wins, maybe less away - and already has his degree.
  12. At this point, I fear we'd pick up Clausen (if he declared) thus giving all my ND friends a reason to heckle me into oblivion....
  13. Be fair Bill. At this point, barring a miracle, we will not be doing the safety dance in 2010. I think even Ralph sees that he will have a Donahoe/Mularkian Revolt erupt amongst the fans (it's already in the media) and will go for a young hotshot assistant. Hopefully it's a Suh or a Cody we pick up and give the defense the Wood/Levitre attitude adjustment the o-line got.
  14. For all of the wailing and gnashing of teeth around here - Edwards has just now finished his 30th start, and the guy he lost to took 5 years to develop, a having a guy drafted fourth/first overall pushing him AND having a horrific shoulder injury that scared all but two teams off (one of which going cheap for an even more injured candidate) with a HC who sees the exact same thing the QB does on the field. I say that to say, when he gets jettisoned like everyone else people were glad to get rid of, if he shows up with a coach that wants to play to his strengths, do not wail on how we let him get by either.
  15. Parrish is terrible at KR. If anything they should put Langster back there.
  16. Video of Freeman in action
  17. Think of it as us extending our draft - as one reader said earlier. Freeman and Meredith seem to be blocks that we can add to the building pile...
  18. Even last year we blitzed the Wildcat more than they are tonight though.
  19. To be honest, if I can put my bitter hat on, he's everything that Peters should have been here, without the ego.
  20. He was in a ton toward the end Mike. The best way to tell when he's in is he takes a four point stance about a yard or so out of the tackle and yard or so off the ball.
  21. He's a very underrated undrafted OT. He's one of the guys that came in in a Wally Pipp esque situation and never got out. Bill's a big fan of his, as well as their guard if memory serves...
  22. Think of it this way all who want TO to be traded - his presence is allowing the other stuff to come open. Trent has to choose on each play who can win deep (TO or Lee) as opposed to just Lee last year...
  23. Had Owens open in corner on play before screen. Darnit. Points, just get points.
  24. It looks like at least one ligament torn...good Lord I don't know how he held onto the ball....
  25. Talib hurt = TO should be open on next play
