  1. Correlation does not equal causation. Merry Christmas.
  2. Donte. His contract expires in 2011, but he can void that final year and be a free agent this year.
  3. If it makes you feel better Bill he can opt out of his contract this year and you'll never have to hear from him again in Buffalo. Merry Christmas.
  4. Yeah Cinci, The thing with college is, the letter of intent day is in march or feb of next year. While you're with the old team in January for instance at a bowl, the other coaches are poaching your recruits so you pretty much have to leave a team high and dry. In college bball the day is already passed, so if you want to leave you inherit the previous seasons' recruits without a hitch.
  5. “I had it in my hands and I was going to throw it (down),” said Byrd. “We were on the ground and I didn’t know who was down there so I was trying to get the ball and he said, ‘It’s me, it’s me.’ And so I let him have it.” Bills Page So it's not like he was trying to pad his stats, he was just happy to pad George's!
  6. It was documented that Malone paid off the mom when she was pregnant, and that he did not provide any support for D Bell in any fashion. In fact, he told Demetrius that he had to find his own way ($$$)....
  7. I thought a big reason that sack happened was Simmons looking right and then back left at the last second, allowing for no guard assistance as the 2 gapping NT tried to rush...
  8. Typically though Mike on teams with two backs, the second guy almost always has more yards (with the exception of Peterson, he's just a freak). I think Marshawn's problem this year was the bulking up this off-season and the suspension. If we have a solid line next year and he loses like 5-10 pounds, I think both of them have a place. We cannot give up depth in one of the few spots we have it - IMO.
  9. Don't forget Vontae Davis complaining that the refs gave us this game and that TO isn't as good as he was seen to be, blowing by a guy nearly half his age with ease...
  10. It's funny, because the Jets and Pats were interested in Leodis because of his ability to play press-man and when he fell to us it was kind of a boon. Now it's viewed (because Jauron had him playing off with no use of his best asset) that he's useless? Wow.
  11. You do realize one of the reasons he went to Indy was the fact that he PLAYED QB in college under Moore? And that he didn't play DB until he got to the NFL? One of the cool things about his relationship with Peyton and Moore was that he understood the No huddle because he ran it in college, the same way, with the same coach. So, maybe listen to him a little when he talks about football period. It may help.
  12. I think 9 and 2 are directly linked Bill. To be honest, they could get away with starting Lankster at KR, with his experience at WVU. But Leodis when healthy (and playing smart) was one of the best returners in the history of college fb and a darn good one for us. At corner if we play him like Fewell has started to play Drayton post Jauron (pressing, even if he's playing a zone) we'll see a more aggressive and more productive Leodis @ cb.
  13. The reason Hardy's been out is because of his groin injury - which wouldn't be a good thing to have on the field if you can avoid it...
  14. Good catch. Someone who's a retired coach should go through the realm of responsibility by position coach. DB has a ton compared to TE, which is a glorified intern position.
  15. Mike Tomlin was a DB coach. Heck Harbaugh was too, as well as ST. But y'all continue just burning the mother down. Fewell isn't Jauron-lite. Heck we don't know what Fewell is. I'd like to see him coach a game before I declare he's mentally incabable of leading this "storied franchise" to victory.
  16. Well Russ is trying to get Ralph to pay money for a good football guy. How does that affect him in marketing? Answer - it makes his job a heck of a lot easier.
  17. One of the reasons you don't want your Asst HC to be the Interim HC is he can be snapped up by another team once the "interim" period is over. If anything, it's better to keep him the Asst HC / ST Coord to allow the next coach the option of retaining him or not.
  18. And again, he's harping on like many here the fact that broken bones and torn ligaments can be avoided even if the player is moving awkwardly while playing football.
  19. Tomlin's bread and butter is the Tampa 2, which he has put aside because of the success of his current team's success with the zone blitz out of the 3-4. He has added some of those looks to the team, but by and large he's more of the manager. I think the people skills and the man management is the key traits to match, not the schemes per-se.
  20. Fair enough, agree to disagree. But look at a guy who looked like he shouldn't even be in the NFL a few years ago torching people all over the place in Drew Brees. He was so bad that he and Flutie alternated weeks until Rivers got there and held out. THEN he started to show what he was possible of now. Though the wailing and gnashing of teeth if that did happen with Edwards on another team would be hilarious to observe here...
  21. That's smart on several levels. One, unlike Donahoe, this shows that Brandon's ego isn't such that he thinks he is the end all be all for football. Secondly, he'll increase his knowledge base under this person and make himself attractive in the years to come. Finally, he ensures he keeps his job as Marketing COO and just has to relinquish football ops, leaving Guy at least twisting in the wind. Remember, most of the personnel people will not be removed (if at all) until AFTER the draft. Too much work has been put in already for FAs and Srs/Jrs.
  22. If we set up a competent line and give him a solid system, I'd like to see what Edwards has. Otherwise we're just going to spin wheels.
  23. I think the key for either is that they run the same defense. So even if he isn't the next Tomlin, if we got Frazier (former Bear, bad dude extraordinaire) he could fix this defense. Offensively is where we need to be built. I refuse to use re-build because we've been broken one way or another for darn near 10 years...
