  1. This is a big game in that regards. Yotes are the chief competition for worst record.
  2. Yeah, that's too much. If that's the price, I'm staying at twelve and taking Jackson or trading up to six or seven if Mayfield is available.
  3. Would you rethink it to the point of trading up to #2 for Allen? (I am not being snarky; genuinely asking.)
  4. Yeah, he probably does. I just wouldn't pay much to get him, certainly not 22 and 65. I want a young fella that can be around ten years or more if he works out.
  5. Allen is high ceiling, low floor. I wouldn't trade up to 2 for him, but if Darnold, Rosen, Mayfield, and Jackson were all gone by 12 (highly doubtful,) I admit I would pull the trigger, though I think the odds are against Allen working out. I'd rather take a shot at the high ceiling than take Rudolph there, that's for sure.
  6. Beane thought he was more clever than all of them -- and you saw right through all his smoke
  7. Do I want to pay a first and third round pick for a 37 year old qb who might be done? Hmm.
  8. Let me see, according to some, the Gmen working out Rosen means we might not even get to take the third round prospect Rudolph at twelve. Does this mean we are trading up to two for Rosen? Or maybe none of it actually implies anything with rational certitude.
  9. I think this is a credible argument. The hypothetical you put together ought to be enough if the Giants are interested in moving #2.
  10. Or some fella made a guess and claimed it was inside info.
  11. Well, maybe he has some of Tom Brady's secret sauce. If he's that good, I'm okay with it, of course.
  12. Good grief, we're going to corner the market on 30 year old rbs and ancient lbs.
  13. If you're waiting for Elway or Luck to justify trading significant resources for a chance at franchise qb, you will wait a long time. Not only are they rare, whoever is bad enough to merit the first pick is surely not going to trade away the pick unless forced as the Colts were with regards to Elway. The top fellas in this draft have enough good qualities to be considered potential franchise guys and that's enough.
  14. I agree with your general point. I don't think this is a particularly deep draft from my reading, but that actually means you should concentrate your resources early in the draft. Regardless, if we don't take a shot at franchise qb this draft, I don't think we ever will.
  15. Trapasso's enthusiasm has caused folks to wonder if he shares an agent with Mr. Rudolph. The Steelers aren't planning on taking Rudolph at #12 overall.
  16. I understand your reasoning with the Gmen. That is how I would think about it, but a large number of analysts seem to think the Giants are not going to take a qb, so I believe #2 is probably available for the right price. I don't think we are going BPA at twelve. We will take the qb and trade up from #22 if there is someone at lb we really covet. I think it's just as likely we make a small jump from twelve to secure Mayfield, for instance.
  17. I do think that is a plausible alternative strategy. I am assuming Darnold and Rosen will be gone, but it's possible any one of Mayfield, Allen, or Jackson will be there. If Mayfield drops past five, you could make a smaller deal to move up and grab him or wait for Jackson at twelve (I think he will be there.)
  18. I think most people know or suspect that, but this board would be really dull today without this thread. I don't think the Cardinals can really match what we can offer without paying ridiculous amounts from future drafts.
  19. I like Darnold too, in spite of the unorthodox throwing motion and carrying the ball low which makes him prone to fumbling. The latter, I think, you can unlearn and I wouldn't mess with the former, because it works for him. I haven't really considered Darnold, however, because I'm just sure he's going to the Browns at #1 overall.
  20. I'm not really worried about it. I'm more worried about the rather slight frame and injury concerns.
  21. Yes, but Kelly is blue-collar Western Pennsylvania. Rosen might come to like it here, but the sensibility gap is considerably greater.
  22. I don't know anything about these players, but some fellas who seem to know what they are talking about have classified them as poor players. What I meant by desperation, however, was not that it was a move of desperation by OBD, but that a team only plays subpar players when forced to; desperate in that sense. I am fine with signing average players with experience.
