5-2: Eric Galko Reviews the Bills' Draft on WGR
Dr. Who replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Personally, I'd prefer to take it slow, maybe wait a year for the o-line and wr corps to be significantly upgraded. At minimum, I'd be hesitant to thrust Allen onto the field the first half of the season which is largely on the road against some tough teams. -

Why the Allen project may be different

Well, the supporting cast in 2017 was much worse and he was running for his life much of the time. -

Well, I think one could reasonably argue that Rosen is more polished and that Mayfield is probably more developed as a qb. Allen and Darnold need more work. Allen has not had the level of coaching and support the others have had. So, project in that sense, but I do agree it is an equivocal term with limited relevance. -
I see we've moved from mass hysteria because Rosen wasn't chosen to grudging acceptance and growing enthusiasm to the second wave of entrenched pessimism. The hardliners aren't going to budge unless Allen's play forces them to. No worries and no surprises on who is in that camp. Have fun griping fellas. Oh, the view that Allen is Cardale Jones, that's just so cute.

Cam Newton scouting report compares to Josh Allen

Don't give in to paranoia. This is correct. -
That is a common view and everyone can understand why people believe it. I think love is often insightful and more discerning than say, apathy or dislike.
 -
I just don't find that a very credible opinion. I don't think you are a foolish poster by any means, but I think it much more likely Beane and McDermott have had their eye on Allen for quite a while and have studied him sufficiently to make "blind faith" an unfounded interpretation.
 -
So, doubters are rational and have investigated beyond highlights and those who support the fella are fideists. Got it. Guess Beane and McDermott are risking their careers on blind faith.

Sabres & NHL 2017-18 - Entry Draft on June 22

In that case, I sure hope Nylander makes a big leap forward -- or maybe Olofsson turns into a steal. -

Do we have money to bring in any free agents? A top 6 sniper with speed to play next to Eichel would be nice. -
If he had the accuracy thing down cold, he'd be a Cleveland Brown right now.

Start Allen from Day 1/ QB competition

Okay. Sorry I was under the impression I was making a rational argument. -

Training camp through pre-season, teams don't game plan and you face vanilla defence. Allen needs signifcant work, though he has tremendous talent and upside. Though McCarron is not Alex Smith, I think Allen would benefit from a Mahomes-like redshirt year. Furthermore, I'd prefer we got our o-line and wr corps upgraded before throwing a rookie to the wolves. You don't want to David Carr the fella. -

I basically agree with advocates for the take it slow approach, but I think you're right in your surmise that folks are going to be surprised at how much talent this kid has. -
I think he is referring to a longer interview on the Rich Eisen show. It's posted in one of these threads. I'm surprised you weren't the one to post it, actually I see BuffaloHokie13 clarified this above. . .

No, I get it. I was unclear. I was trying to indicate that that particular move was so jawdropping I knew what you meant without having to check the time. -

I was trying to watch the video and keep track of the time. No need. Just amazing. -
