  1. By using "we" collectively, I think you are giving more credit than is due. Certainly you don't really mean that all the Allen critics are thoroughly informed . . . in any event, you are welcome to your interpretation. I believe one can conclude differently regarding Allen's potential without being judged uninformed or foolish.
  2. I think it's because a lot of folks who bash Allen focus on completion percentage.
  3. If they stick at 12, Jackson and Rudolph are likely the only ones available. Personally, I'm not fine with that.
  4. Another fella ranked the qbs 1 - 6. The only one I agreed with was Jackson at 5. I am more of a gambler. I do think Mayfield and Rosen right now are the best qbs, so I am guessing at plausible potential, right or wrong.
  5. That's fine. We all have our opinions and individual modes of evaluation. I don't claim to be an expert. I really want Darnold, but I think Allen is going to be good. I worry about Rosen's injury history and lack of pocket presence. It's not ridiculous, however, to think Rosen will end up the best of the bunch.
  6. Unless he ends up with the Pats* per impossible. Then, sorry fella, but it has to be an epic fail
  7. Lot of presumptuous know-it-alls chiming in. If it was so manifestly self-evident that Allen was doomed to fail, professionals would not be considering Allen at the top of the draft. One has to trust that there are credible intellects evaluating much more comprehensive information than any of us have. For example, I don't like Rudolph. I'll be mad if we pick him. I don't see a high ceiling on the fella. Nonetheless, I'll hope I am wrong and root for him to be good if he ends up a Buffalo Bill.
  8. I have Allen rated above Rosen based on what I consider plausible potential (i.e., not unrealistic expectations for Allen) and concerns over Rosen's durability. So I would be fine with it. Darnold is my top rated fella, though any of the top 4 is okay with me.
  9. I'm going to keep hope alive, even if it's a flickering candle.
  10. I'm not convinced 2 is utterly out of play. 4 may also be available. Three teams may be involved. A lot will be determined by who the Browns end up taking at 1. If Browns pass on Darnold and the Giants decide not to go qb, I think the Bills have a strong offer set to go.
  11. If it's going to happen, they will have set up the groundwork for such a trade so it won't be a mad scramble when Giants are on the clock.
  12. I actually don't mind Darnold. He seems down to earth. I like Westerns and his grandfather was the Marlboro man, so he can't be all bad. I think he's going 1 overall. I buy the argument that Allen's inaccuracy is somewhat exaggerated and that he was often taking low percentage shots downfield with less than stellar receivers. Folks like to say, so what, he had bad receivers but they went up against low caliber players in his conference. Well, that doesn't really matter if your poor receivers keep dropping your passes. Regardless, I think Allen and Mayfield bring an edge we need. Allen is the "long play." I hope we have the guts and foresight to make it happen.
  13. Nobody really knows. You're a cool fella, wrong or right, so don't sweat it.
  14. Durability is my main concern with Rosen, though I would be happy with any of the top four.
  15. Allen could go 1, Mayfield 3. I don't see Rosen in the discussion at 1. He may be considered at 3. I would guess Rosen because I think he is most likely to be avaliable at 5, though unlike many on this board, I prefer Allen and Mayfield.
  16. I will be happy unless they passed on Darnold to take him. Those who want to throw a tantrum are welcome to. I plan on throwing a tantrum if Rudolph is picked.
  17. If they like Darnold (or someone else) much more than the others, they will trade up high if they can and that will be expensive. Otherwise, a trade to 6 ought to garner one of the top 4. I think Jackson is there at 12. I like Darnold and Allen best and would trade up for either. Trading up for Allen in particular is an unpopular position, of course. It's potentially a regime risking decision. The flip is if you hit, you're in cotton for a decade or more.
  18. I took "tough to hear" as meaning "regrettable, but likely true." One has to hope Dabol and Culley are legit, though there isn't a lot to foster optimism.
  19. I agree, but the post you respond to is one of those who thinks because all the top qbs have flaws, one can be indifferent as to which of them one ends up with.
  20. I rarely agree with you. This may be a sign of the Apocalypse, not sure . . .
  21. 362154 . . . Jackson is the only one where we have agreement. Maybe you should move him to 6 just for giggles.
  22. DIdn't think this was funny the first time or the twentieth time. Strangely, around the fiftieth time, it's starting to be funny.
  23. I like Mayfield, but you make a plausible argument. I personally prefer Darnold and Allen above the others. I am worried about Rosen's durability. He is the most polished, but I don't think his ceiling is as high as Darnold or Allen. Allen is more of a risk and will take longer to develop. Some wonder if we have the coaches to develop a qb. I don't know, but you've got to hope we do. I think you have to get to 1 or 2 to get Darnold. Allen might fall to 5. I think Rosen the most likely to be available there.
