Giving Tyrod a new contract was such an awful decision

Bills are the 7th Highest Spending Team in the Last 4 Years
Chilly replied to plenzmd1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Cash depends a lot on signing bonuses. Bills decided to start to spend and get up towards the cap, while some of the other teams haven't needed to dole out huge signing bonuses. Not sure this means all that much honestly. -
Anyone have a Google Home, Alexa, Amazon Tap, Echo etc
Chilly replied to YoloinOhio's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I LOVE my Google Home and am about to purchase some more. I use it every morning to have it read out to me what my day is like, tell me my commute times and optimized route, play the news as I take a shower, etc. I also use it all the time after I get home from work, asking it questions, creating shopping lists, setting timers and doing unit conversions while cooking, etc. Google Home, being new, doesn't have near the ecosystem of the Amazon Echo yet, but my life is completely integrated into Google products so it was the better choice for me. Google Home, like Echo, also supports IFTTT so you can do some integrations through it. Google Home is better at search, integrates with Chromecast, better at natural voice, has better control across multiple Google Home devices and is a great choice if you use Google Play products. If you are looking for something that has a much broader range of support outside of just Google products (TONS of 3rd parties support Amazon, Google hasn't released their APIs yet), or you have a Prime account and want to be able to stream music through Prime, Amazon is the better choice. Both support Spotify and can play from there. For most people I'd imagine the Echo is the way to go *right now* if you have a prime subscription or want something that integrates into a wide range of products, but if you love the Google Ecosystem the Google Home is fantastic. If you end up going Amazon, I suggest getting the Echo to start. The Tap is a wireless device that needs charging in a dock, so it's a good add-on device, and the Dot isn't intended to be a real speaker so it's a poor choice unless you don't want to do things like play music. Alternatively, if you have an existing sound system you just want to hook an Echo up to, that's really the Dot's intended purpose. -
What does keeping Rex a 3rd year accomplish?
Chilly replied to Yeezus's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Keenum is an even worse passer than Tyrod and behind him in just about every statistical passing category, and the Rams have Gurley and can't run the ball. Keenum would be an unmitigated disaster worse than Tyrod. Tyrod career completion %, TD %, INT %, QB Rating, AY/A, Y/A are all higher. The only argument I really see here is that he continues his hot streak from his games with Chicago into next season with a new team, and that's a complete gamble, and you lose the running. I have zero faith either of them could run a more effective passing attack than Tyrod. -

Current NFL QB's the Bills Should take a Look At
Chilly replied to a topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Chase Daniel isn't even a free agent; he's making $7/year with Philly for 3 years to be their backup, and would cost him all of that $7 mil next year in dead cap if they cut him. He'll be an Eagle. Hundley is also not a FA, and would require us to make a trade to get him. The issue is the entire FA pool is a **** show: http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/free-agents/quarterback/ Cousins is not going to be a FA, might as well scratch him off the list. The Cowboys might not give Romo up either given it would cause some ridiculously huge dead cap figure. We're basically locked into a high QB pick no matter what at this point. -

http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/free-agents/quarterback/ That's the issue. Cousins won't be a FA. Outside of him, anyone that's available is a steaming pile of **** that can't pass or run. At least Tyrod can run. There's zero other options right now than to draft a QB high and either give him full control of the O or pick up Tyrod's option and have them compete against each other. It's ugly. -

We're going to replace a ****ty passer who can run with a ****ty passer who can't run. Absolutely. As poor as Tyrod has been, there is not one QB available this year that I would rather have in FA, and I sure as hell don't want my QB situation to look like what the Rams did this year. Me too, which is why I said the sentiment should be "If Rex/Whaley don't want to spend significant resources on bringing in an additional QB for next year, they should be relieved of their duties". -

Mid-level starter money for a starter of unknown quality (rookie QB) and one of the best backups in the league. Who is this person we're going to find that has his game and is cheaper? -

Tyrod's deal is easily cuttable after 2018. If they draft a 1st round QB in the 2017 NFL draft, at 11 million for 4 years for a rookie QB, the cap hits for the two together would be: 2017: 18.75 mil cap hit, rank #16 Starting QB in NFL 2018: 19 mil cap hit, rank #16 Starting QB in NFL 2019 (Tyrod Cut): 12.8 mil 2020: 9.15 mil That would put the total cap hit for 2 QBs, a starter and a backup that you know you can handle it, at mid-level starting QB money for the NFL until he's cut, and then you free up pretty significant space. -

I disagree with this because I think Tyrod's running ability opens up the run game. If you put someone back there that can't run and can't pass (say, FA QB Mark Sanchez), the O scheme falters. I'm okay with Rex / Whaley basically wanting to do 1 of 2 scenarios: 1.) Don't pick up Tyrod's option, make sure you draft a round 1 QB to be the starter (even if you have to trade up to get him). 2.) Pick up Tyrod's option, add a decently high QB (say, round 2-3) for competition, and have an open contest in training camp between the 3 QBs. This would be reliant on Cardale showing progressing in practices (hard for us to see). Tyrod's option just doesn't cost that much $$$ for a QB in today's NFL and rookie salaries are nothing. They can afford to pick it up and give themselves options. The one thing they can't do is not address the QB position by failing to bring another option. In my opinion the sentiment should be "If Rex/Whaley don't want to spend significant resources on bringing in an additional QB for next year, they should be relieved of their duties". -

Who is going to play QB next year? -
I'm calling each and every member of the CoT out

I don't think anyone but elite QBs have guaranteed starting spots. It'll be open training camps from here on out unless Tyrod miraculously progresses as a passer. -

Tyrod has some great strengths that make him the best QB that we've had in a long, long time. Unfortunately, Tyrod is also not developing as a passer and that means we're going to need to move on from him. That being said, I don't know how we don't pick up his option. We have no one else, and there's no one else out there. I think the right answer is to keep Tyrod and draft someone, and then keep drafting QBs until you hit. -
Rapoport: Expect off-season trade talks around Brandin Cooks
Chilly replied to JM57's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They were rolling the coverage towards Cooks pretty much the whole game, which can be done with Zone or Man. While that's true, the NO offense specifically is setup to go after whatever the defense leaves vulnerable, which was Michael Thomas most of the game with Cooks drawing extra help. Typically NO moves Cooks around, because he can play outside or inside, to free him up, but given the way LA rolled coverage in this game, they attacked elsewhere. -

He was drawing safety help the whole game and it followed him around the field no matter where he lined up. That's not running through zones. http://www.theadvocate.com/new_orleans/sports/saints/article_3654b8b4-b5ec-11e6-923a-676a7996fb0e.html?utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter&utm_campaign=user-share -

Cooks was double and tripled team on every single route last week. That's not Michael Thomas surpassing him, that's Brees throwing it to the guy the defense left open to cover Cooks. -

Cooks has the talent to be a top 10 WR talent in this league. He and Sammy, with Shady in the backfield, would be ridiculous. He would be my #1 target in the offseason easily. -
