Edwards/ Losman things of note
PTS replied to Happy Days Lois & Clark's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't want to take anything away from Lee on that play but the only reason he caught that and got the TD was because the Jets' safety completely took his own cornerback out and pushed the ball into Evans' direction. Had the safety hit Evans and not his teammate, I'm not so sure the play doesn't turn into an interception at worst. -

If Evans does beat his guy off the line, Edwards will find him like 95% of the QBs in this league would when a guy is completely open on a home-run pass. I never said or implied that Evans doesn't get his share of deep touchdowns. My point was that, and going back to the original posters statements, Edwards is not going to throw the ball 50 yards down field if Evans isn't in an ideal situation, and to me that's the smart and right thing to do when you can check off to a receiver who is open (something JP can't do for whatever reason). -

With our skilled and speedy receivers, we shouldn't have to "bomb it" out. Quick and short passes are an easy way to first downs. That's what Brady and Pats do effectively against teams like the Bills. But obviously they can also air it deep because they have a guy (Moss) who can haul in those passes consistently even with a CB all over him. Hardy will need to be that guy because I just don't see Evans as a deep threat unless he burns his guy at the line. In the few videos I've seen from camp, it seems to me JP is still on "lock on" mode. He simply doesn't know how to read the field outside of one or two targets. Trent's head is always moving looking for the smart throw. That to me is something you can't teach and why I was on the Edwards bandwagon last preseason before JP went down. -
Obama and Iraq agree on troop withdrawal
PTS replied to Bishop Hedd's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Wow, if Iraq is backing it, then we should definitely do it! I feel sorry for you BH. I mean after spending months worshipping every move your savior Obama makes, you'll only be left with a giant kick to the nads on election day when the rest of America (i.e. not the media) votes Republican again and crushes all your Obamatopian dreams goodbye. That being said, enjoy your sure-thing of a victory until 5pm on election day. After that you'll watch in horror as Obama's lead dwindles away completely as working families head to the polls. -

You can get shot for your country at 18 but you can't take a shot? Makes no sense. Current Drinking Age = RJ I feel bad for John. He's a good guy and one of probably 1000 WNY parents last week that held such a party. -
Here's a clip of Adu and Altidore teaming up at the U20 World Cup last year against Brazil. Adu and Altidore were ripping that tournament apart. That team would have won the U20 World Cup if not for the anti-USA officiating in the quarterfinals against Austria. I was at that game in Toronto and it was just as bad as the 2008 World Cup Game against Italy. http://youtube.com/watch?v=EYFfq9tecHk&feature=related They don't show a good replay of Adu's moves, so make sure you watch the first few seconds where Adu juggles the ball through two Brazilian players. Here's another clip of Team USA's U20 team at the last World Cup featuring some great goals in a 6-1 win against Poland.

The immediate future (aka South Africa 2010) hinge on the development of Adu and Altidore and to some extent the further development of Bradley, Feilhaber and Edu. If Adu can grow into the dominant player he shows he can be, that allows us to move Donovan up to his natural forward slot and that would be a fearsome attacking duo. Forwards: Donovan-Altidore Attacking Mid: Adu Outside Halfbacks: Dempsey-Feilhaber Defending Mid: Bradley Fullbacks: TBD-Bocanegra-Onyewu-TBD Goalie: Howard Shoring up the outside fullback positions is, as always, a major concern as it's the team's major weakness. That leave us with decent options on the bench like Edu, Johnson, Ching, Lewis, etc. This would be a very respectable roster capable of upseting the traditional World Powers on any given day.

It just drives liberals insane that Fox News is kicking every other news station's ass six ways to Sunday. Plus, at least Fox News tries to be "fair and balanced". The other stations are and have been on anti-Bush mode 24/7 for a decade now. I just got CNNHD recently so I really did watch it for a whole week. After a week or so I too wanted to slit my own wrist at how horrible a country we live in. Oh wait, it's not. It's still the best and always will be no matter who is sitting in the Oval Office.

With Donovan out, I'm not sure why Adu wasn't playing from the start. It was a totally different game when the kid came onto the pitch. He's clearly one of the only players we have with the skill level to maintain ball possession against the best of the world. We had more shots in the first few minutes of him entering the game than the entire time he was on the bench. While I don't think Freddie has panned out like he should have to this point, I definitely blame USSF for that. He should be playing in these big games and not riding the bench. He's far and away the best talent US has ever seen. They need him playing these games now so he can dominate when it really counts in 2010 and beyond. That being said, US Soccer has a fantastic group of youngsters (16 to 20 years old). They'll be primed in 4-8 years but what they are really missing is the cornerstone players in the prime (25-30). Outside of Donovan and Howard in net, they don't have these kind of players to compete with the top flight teams and they're players 21-24 aren't to exciteable either.

I'm a huge soccer fan and diving drives me away from the game at times. I was at the WC in Germany and saw the diving firsthand. The ONLY reason Italy was able to make the finals let alone win was because of their horrendous diving tactics. I just don't understand why FIFA doesn't crack down on this. http://youtube.com/watch?v=5dQBqKR4Jh4

1-0 England at half time. Terry scored on a set piece from Beckham. USA's offense is garbage without Donovan in the lineup. Dafoe looks great for England when he's not diving around. One thing I respect about US soccer is we don't dive. You could say the same for England to a degree. They're probably the least diving team in Europe. I don't like the lineup for USA. Wolff and Johnson had their chance. I would have rather seen someone like Altidore playing. He's probably the best forward Team USA has in their program.

Electoral College predictions
PTS replied to Typical TBD Guy's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
It's going to be a rout for McCain if Obama is the Dem to be. If it's Hilary, the race will be tighter. I think McCain will win PA, MI, WI, MN and OR against Obama. All states that GWB barely losed to Kerry. Obama doesn't stand a chance in the deep south. Outside of California and DC, he won't win anything south of Illinois. -
Call me crazy but I think the Stars and Stripes win in a close game. I think the American style matches up well against England's despite the fact they have a better roster player-for-player except for goalkeeping. Howard is much better in net than any English option.

What hotel are you staying at? All-Inclusive I hope. Me and my better half stayed at the Gran Marival in Nuevo Vallarta (Vallarta Nayarit) two Decembers ago. NV is just north of PV. We absolutely loved it. I've been to a lot of tropical destinations and PV is definitely one of my favorites. The downtown center where all the markets are is pretty cool. For adventure you have to go on a "canopy tour" where you'll zip line through tall jungle trees. You won't regret it.

I got the Cub Cadet LT1050 last spring for $1999 at Home Depot minus a 10% coupon I printed off on the internet. You can also open a Home Depot card and get the 10%. I don't know what your budget is but if you have a bigger yard (I got just under 2 acres), make sure you get a wider cutting surface. It takes me an hour to cut my entire lawn with this Cub Cadet and that's when I really take my time to do it perfectly. It takes my neighbor (same size yard) about an hour longer with his 43 inch Toro, plus my Cub Cadet makes my lawn look far better. It mulches real well and has a lot of cool features like the deck wash system which keeps the cutting deck nice and clean.

Average Gas Price over the last 6 Years...

The articles I read stated there is more oil in North Dakota alone than in Saudi Arabia. The estimates were that oil from ND alone would last at least 60 years in the USA. -
Average Gas Price over the last 6 Years...
PTS replied to taterhill's topic in Off the Wall Archives
It is getting ridiculous. Especially since more and more scientists are now saying Oil is a renewable resource and not a fossil fuel like once thought. Hell they keeping find new and extremely large oil fields everywhere. Google North Dakota Oil. I don't understand why we can't just use our own home-drilled oil and tell OPEC we'll only buy from them for X dollars per barrel. Anything more than that, they can kiss our ass as we'll just continue to use our own oil until we can replace it altogether. Aren't we the #1 demander? Can't we put our foot down at some point? Or should we just keep sending heaps of money to terrorists? -
Man, if this happened in a European league, the team would surely be stripped of their titles in question. That, however, will never happen here.

Professional Sports on the Rise and Fall

You my friend are misinformed to say the least and a brainwashed a-hole to boot. Don't bother typing your cliché-recycling hacks. We've all heard them 10x over. But it's people like you that help drive soccer's growth. It must really eat at you when you start seeing soccer get more pub on football networks like ESPN. Hell, I'm actually surprised that I can turn on sportscenter and see soccer highlights on a daily basis now and days. If only hockey got more respect. BTW: Since you started the name calling, you're probably a fat piece of turd that never played sports in his life. Or maybe you played the O-line because they needed a few fat guys at your high school. You're a real man, real man in deed.
