It seems everybody is reporting it as official.

The telecast is live at www.ESPN360.com. It's free this year for college football and it's NOT blacked out in WNY! So far so good, end of the 1st and UB is up 6-0. It should be 10-0 ... the kicker had a field goal and extra point blocked, or should I say he kicked it into his own center. The Big East Announcers are completely shocked and surprised at how good Buffalo has become especially the offense which is REALLY fun to watch. The defense is doing great as well but an iffy personal foul on 3rd down is keeping PITT's current drive going. I know it's still early but in the grand scheme of these, winning this game would put them into the driver's seat for their first ever bowl appearance.

Wow ... felt like I just got hit by a ton of bricks. I can't take this crap from NBC Universal anymore. First SG1, now this. I don't even want to watch any new shows anymore because 90% get canceled and the 10% that don't simple suck. I can't image not having a Stargate show to watch.

If you love beaches, Punta Cana in Dominican Republic is a great place to move to. It's the best bang for you buck right now. $100,000 will buy you a huge house on the beach if you prefer. It would be $400-$500k for similar type housing in Central American countries. Plus, the nation's economy is growing each year and the infrastructure is getting better and better as more and more tourist visit the country. I have a family friend in their 40s living there now.

My god, does WGR ever give it a rest?

NFL should go to a two game preseason and a 18 game regular season. -
That simply means he's more qualified to become the White House Press Secretary than leader of any country.

Great game indeed. Turner Gil is really a savior. I hope he stays in Buffalo for at least 3-5 years. He can coach but his recruiting is what he does best. He turned around last years team with guys he inherited. I can only imagine what the team will be like when he's been recruiting here for a few more seasons. Next week they play an extremely overrated Pittsburgh team that's ranked #25 somehow. With UB's offense, they can make some noise in that game if the defense holds up. It should be a good test to see how close they are to becoming a Top 50 team. I think computer rankings have them at #67 right now which is unbelieveable considering they were at #119 for what seemed like forever.

Obama's a great thinker but he's never shown himself to be a doer. He's an intellectual and that's why the leftist love him. While I'll never agree that Bush is as bad as the media makes him out to be, I think Bush's biggest downfall was his convictions in being a doer. When he set his mind that what he was doing is right, he did it and sometimes that didn't work out. With Obama this country would be doing a lot of thinking and not much more. Not my cup of tee.

edwards will be the next brady/roethlisberger
PTS replied to robert's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
While it's definitely too early to tell, I actual share the thoughts of the OP to an extent. I see a lot of the little things in Trent that you see in Brady. That being said, that bum from New England will go down as one of the greatest QBs ever. I don't think Trent will get that far but he should be right under that elite level which currently features Brady and Manning. -
Dude, you're from WNY and you think democrats are good? Hell, the only reason I became a Republican when I was old enough to vote is because democrat-led politicians destroyed cities like Buffalo, Rochester and Syracuse. On another note, I'm sick of the media telling me how bad America has become over the past eight years because it's still the greatest place in the world to live in.

Actually, there are plenty of pictures with Underwood without makeup and she's always been said to be naturally beautiful. As for Jessica Simpson, I met her personally at least three times back in my days in the entertainment business and I was turned off from her since the first time I stood within five feet of her. She's definitely good from far but far from good. If you think Underwood wears too much makeup, it doesn't even come close to Ms. Simpson. Plus, she's VERY short. As for bodies, I'll give the T's to Jessica and the A's to Carrie.

Carrie Underwood is 10x > Jessica Simpson

Remember when people had rights in this country?

Sorry, but that was funny. Dumb B word taunted the police to hit her and they did. -
I love soccer but I have always been luke warm to the women's game. Yesterday's gold medal game was probably the best women's game I've ever seen. The skill level is getting pretty high for the ladies and you're starting to see a lot more speed. It was an exciting game and I'm glad USA pulled through since they were without a few key players this tournament.

I didn't know he played Rugby?
-
Did anyone see him in his semifinal run? The kid was jogging for 40 of the 100 meters and he still easily won. He's definitely a man amongst boys right now.
-
Does anyone know what channel the game's on? I thought it was on Channel 7 but there is some other team manhandling the Steelers right now and it obviously can't be the Bills.

You're definitely right, the US should have been a major player by now. That being said, the quality of the youth behind guys like Donovan and Beasley wasn't nearly as good in the early 2000s as it is now. There was clearly a generation gap and let's face it, out of all those 2002 guys that performed well, many of them have turned into giant busts. I don't think that will happen this time around because of the sheer number of quality players in the pipeline at the U23, U20 and U17 level. That's why I think it will take at least one more World Cup for this country to become dangerous at soccer, unless guys like Beasley, Eddie Johnson and Clint Dempsey really step it up. EJ has to be the biggest disappointment, he was one of the best players I've ever seen wear the Stars and Stripes when he first broke out during 2006 WC Qualifying when basically every major European team was drooling over him. Now he's fallen into an abyss with lazy play but he's still young enough to get his head screwed back on. Let's not forget about coaching, which I think is the biggest thing holding back US soccer. They need to get a world-class coach who can turn these raw but skilled players into a great team.

That red card, which I don't think was as bad as Marcelo Balbao made it out to me, killed the US. IMO: That's a very harsh red to give three minutes into any game. I think USA would have been more than capable of winning, let alone tying, this game had that never happened. Despite the red, they should have went through anyway but as a LongLiveRalph said, this is typical USA soccer. Always at the brink of doing great things only to lay an egg when it matters most. I think the biggest error made in this tournament was taking Adu out of the Dutch game with 10 minutes to go. He was phenomenal that game and leaving him in there would have sealed the deal for advancing. Holland got lucky but most traditional soccer powers always find a way to get the job done. They played like crap this tournament and needed an iffy penalty kick to beat Japan today which is what officially knocked USA out. I was watching some of this game and Japan had at least five great chances to score in the second half including a crossbar. The Dutch owe their survival to their keeper because he keep them in it against the US and Japan. That being said, the USMNT will be looking pretty good in the years to come. There are a lot of kids on this Oympic team that I would say are much further along that most of the current National Team players. They could surely make some noise if they get a good draw for the WC in South Africa but I think 2014 might be the year where the rest of the world starts to worry about US soccer for good, especially with the upcoming talent in the vastly improving youth teams.

Someone please explain the Roscoe Parrish lovefest
PTS replied to Adam's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Is this thread a joke? Or just the OP? A more involved Roscoe = a better Bills offense -
For those of you that haven't followed yet, and it's understandable since the media barely covers this team, Team USA beat Japan 1-0 on Thursday and picked up a 2-2 draw against the "almighty" Netherlands on Sunday. The Dutch team fields starters from Real Madrid, Liverpool, Valencia and so on. They were supposed to cruise past the "lowly" USA. Nobody was giving Team USA a chance at the Olympics including the Dutch coach who said he wasn't concerned about the Americans because "they don't really have any good players." So after falling behind 15 minutes into the game, Team USA adjusted and plain-and-simply dominated the rest of the game. USA scored two quick goals in the second half and Holland needed an iffy call right at the top of the American box to score the equalizer with 30 seconds left in stoppage. It was most unfortunate as we were was just seconds away from making the quaterfinals. They were head and shoulders better than the Dutch, and to make matters worse, Freddy Adu and Michael Bradley will miss the next game against Nigeria with two yellows. Adu was phenominal in this game. Team USA is still on top of the group thanks to tiebreakers and they only need a tie to advance into the quarters. If they win their group, they could have a pretty good shot at medalling. Wednesday at 5am vs. Nigeria on USA Network (or Olympic Soccer Channel HD if you have it). That day is coming when USA wins a big soccer tournament and the rest of the world will be besides itself in anger. I can't wait.

They don't even matter then. How many polls had Kerry beating Bush on the day of the election in 2004? Didn't Zogby pretty much say his exit-polls confirmed a Kerry victory? I remember watching some wacky far-left democrat dancing on Fox News because "they had won". And then 5pm came around and the people that actually work got out to vote. These are usually the same people that hang up the phone when someone calls and asks "Would you like to take a few minutes to answer some poll questions on the upcoming election?"

<sarcasm> Thank God they play in empty stadiums when the regular season starts or we'd be in some trouble. </sarcasm>

Edwards/ Losman things of note
PTS replied to Happy Days Lois & Clark's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree that throwing it deep every now and then will keep the defense honest but with Losman I think you get the opposite. Teams know he's locking onto Evans and they take away the long ball most of the time because JP hasn't shown the ability to make the correct short reads. The one example I will never forget was at last season's home opener. On a critical third down play, Losman locked onto to Evans for a few seconds and ended up throwing the ball into coverage when both Reed and Parrish were jumping and waving their arms because there was no opponent within 30 yards of them. They had the whole left side of the field as the lone Bronco defender near them slipped and fell. They were 20 yards off the line and had about 60 yards of free space to run it in for an easy score. JP had the protection and he never once looked to that side of the field. It was a throw the majority of us on this board could have made.
