Attn: soccer fans (just wait 'til next year!)
PTS replied to Cugalabanza's topic in Off the Wall Archives
For those of you that haven't heard, FIFA eliminated the age limit by which a player must aligned themselves internationally. Players are now not tied to a country until they play an "A" match game (World Cup, WC Qualifier, regional cup or Confederations Cup game). Last week Jermaine Jones announced he will leave Germany and play for the USA. He's a central midfielder who easily becomes our best player. He was the #4 rated midfielder in the Bundesliga this season. He's great on both sides of the ball and should free up a guy like Donovan and hopefully get Adu onto the pitch more. Despite pressure from fans and the media, the German coach didn't select Jones in recent games and that ticked him enough to "defect". He has to wait 60 days before playing for the US. There's also a very good left back in Mexico's system that looks like he will do the same. That's a major weakness in the US armor. As for today's game. The US could have been up 3-0 at halftime. That red card was a tough call and eventually did them in against a better team. That said, if it was 11v11, they could have very well walked out of the stadium with three points. -
Flutie Flakes are awesome with Hasek's Hot Sauce and Peca's Pickles added to it.

I hear he's selling this property because a certain TSW poster is his neighbor. Edit: Damn it! Always late to the party with the Skooby jokes!

corporate logos on NFL Uniforms?
PTS replied to olivier in france's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sorry to say it but it looks like the Bills will be the first team to do so. -
Bob Bradley is not the answer at coach. USSF would be wise to look for an outsider to take over the program at the MNT level.

USA has been the clear #1 team in CONCACAF for the last 10 years. That said I don't think US has ever done well in San Jose, Costa Rica. The Confederations Cup is where I want to see the US impress. Mexico has no problems going to international competitions and winning big games. We on the other hand haven't been able to do so other than during the 2002 World Cup. The team has enough talent to make a good run.

I'm not sure one person (or kid) can save the city at this point. There needs to be a major movement that includes the entire upstate region.

Farewell to Our Favorite (and Not-So-Favorite) TV Series
PTS replied to BillsWatch's topic in Off the Wall Archives
The balcony scenes with Alan and Denny had a lot of these tongue-in-cheek dialouges aimed at the fate of the show. Arrested Development did that pretty well too. -
Farewell to Our Favorite (and Not-So-Favorite) TV Series

SciFi Channel would be the perfect fit, and I think they could make it work budget-wise. Shows like BSG and the Stargates didn't have the biggest budgets but you'd never know. And you are right about a big cliffhanger. The show got progressively better each and every week. -

Terminator and The Unusuals were two great shows. I'm really pissed about Terminator because it was getting better and better. The storyline was top notch. Boston Legal was one of my favorites of all time. Alan Shore and Danny Crane, two of the best TV characters ever. -
If the Bills got Vick, we would welcome him with open arms
PTS replied to SKOOBY's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Vick is average at best as a QB. He can run, the other stuff like throwing the ball, not so much. -
Let's get the first lame joke out of the way... She can play with my club and balls any day of the week.

It was definitely one of the best episodes last night but when will we start getting answers and not more questions. Ben Linus is the only character on that show that we really truly understand since his entire timeline can be traced from the moment his dad brought him to the Island. Everyone else is a freakin wildcard. Who the hell is Locke 2.0?

The Bills "new" jerseys are the absolute worst in the league. It's a good thing their helmet is awesome so it's somewhat stomach-able. They need to revamp their duds sooner rather than later.

Wow, Randy Jackson lost a lot of weight ... and COLOR. Paula looks different too.

What is the best advice you have received and used?
PTS replied to BuffaloBill's topic in Off the Wall Archives
"Don't ever look back and always act like you belong." - A good friend of mine and former boss on how to get what you want or to get into where you probably shouldn't be. -
^ - I don't buy that argument. Simply put, Buffalo has not been reactive nor proactive over the past 50 years. It's the shame old crap: unions, bad politics and even more unions and bad politics. Every good idea this city has ever had was killed before it was even implemented. Nothing can get done because we haven't had one person step up and tell everyone else to sit the !@#$ down. This city and region is begging for a leader that will stand up to everyone and get things done his or her way. The problem with that is the special interest groups will never back such a person. At the end of the day, bettering Buffalo would mean dipping into the pockets of the groups that have kept this city from realizing its full potential.

Jerry Sullivan to be on Sirius Opening Drive
PTS replied to LynchMob23's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You couldn't be more wrong. Sullivan is not a beat reporter. It's his job to give his opinions on the Bills and not cover them. And since the Bills have sucked for the last decade, do you honestly expect him to have a lot of positive opinions on the Bills? -
This is something I've been debating for a long time. I have a variety of valid reasons why I would consider getting one. "The way the world is today" is one of them, and why shouldn't it be, but it's definitely not the only reason. You never know when Skooby and his posse of BMW's rolls up on your lawn and starts shooting (rumors). You need to be prepared.

I've been debating for a while now and am also wondering how many people are also in the same boat. I'm starting to lean toward getting a gun. You look at all the recent stories and it's scary. I don't want my friends, family or me to be a victim because some nut job had a bad day. With the way the world is today, I starting to think more good people need guns just in case some wacko decides to go off in public again, which seems to be a recurring trend lately. Thoughts?

Damn I miss that show. Fox screwed the pooch on this one. It was far and away the best comedy since Seinfeld. Anyway, the movie comes out in 2010. http://www.eonline.com/uberblog/watch_with...rolling_by.html

I agree. The Bills will surely win the Super Bowl this year. Everything over the last 10 years has finally "fallen" into place. Plus Dick is still our coach. Great POST! Gotta run, I'm getting my Sabres Stanley Cup Final tickets tonight too!!!

You'd think a few years of you so-called "strong" offseasons would lead to at least one playoff game. Talk to me when that happens, until then, Ralph and his hybrid marketing/football staff do just enough to sell RWS out. No more, no less. Yes, I think the T.O. move was just for marketing. That said, they are better offensively today than they were yesterday so I'm excited but not ready to say the front office is finally serious about winning.
-
At least we'd likely make the playoffs.

Looks like Terminator is going Battlestar Galatica-ish.
