  1. McCargo was drafted late in the 1st. They actually moved up to get him by coughing up early 2nd and 3rd round picks. Trust me, I was suffering that day. Back then I would allow myself to get insane on draft day when the Bills would routinely botch the draft. https://www.footballdb.com/teams/nfl/buffalo-bills/draft/2006
  2. Yes, it was in the same stupid 2006 draft. We walked into that draft with the #8, 2 early seconds and 2 early thirds. Those 5 picks resulted in Donte Whitner, John McCargo, Ashton Youboty, and Ko Simpson. This was Rich Kotite level idiocy.
  3. I appreciate your post and thank you for the insight. That said, I strongly disagree with the above. I am sure that Levy had more of a say as GM than you described. First of all, he brought in his clone in Dick Jauron. Together, they were two clueless men who had NO chance at winning, and I don't give a damn about their college degrees. My daughter is an Ivy League Grad too. I love her but would not want her running the Bills. Levy for many years stressed just how much he valued the secondary and special teams. The first thing he did as GM was devote the 2006 draft to the secondary (despite other glaring needs), trading away a premium draft pick while doing so. When our great players like Kelly, Andre, Bruce and Thurman were getting old, Marv (as coach) was not drafting their replacements, the Bills were drafting cornerbacks. Do you think that Marv had no say in this? During the season when we were so bad that we wound up with the #4 pick in the draft, a reporter asked Marv what he thought was wrong with the Bills. His reply: "special teams." Count me as one who believes that the Bills didn't reach those 4 super bowls because of Levy. I think that we reached them in spite of Levy. I am sorry if the above offends anyone but it is jmo, and I guess this is what we are here to express.
  4. I drink myself of new-found pity Sitting alone in New York City And I don't know why Don't know why So I walk up on high And I step to the edge To see my world below And I laugh at myself While the tears roll down 'Cause it's the world I have known Oh, it's the world I have known
  5. I don't know, Rooney rule type situation, or teams trying to feign an interest in order to look better in some way? If a team wanted him they had many years to hire him. The man is a proven failure as a GM.
  6. I hope that Whaley gets the job so there that there will be an idiot in the AFC, willing to trade away his best draft choices for little return. At draft time, Whaley was like an undisciplined kid in a candy store. Trading up for WR Watkins (on a team with no QB mind you) and giving away the store was really one of the dumbest moves I have ever seen by the Bills, and this is saying quite a bit. It rivals Levy turning down numerous big trade offers for the #8 pick (which he admitted receiving) and drafting Whitner. Whaley would make a good scout. He is NOT a good GM and if he was, there would have been at least a hint of interest in him many years ago. To each his or her own but I fail to see any basis to think that Whaley would be anything less than an awful GM, once again. Go get 'em Steelers!
  7. You keep your distance via the system of touch And gentle persuasion I'm lost in admiration, could I need you this much? Oh, you're wasting my time You're just, just, just wasting time Something happens and I'm head over heels I never find out until I'm head over heels Something happens and I'm head over heels Ah, don't take my heart, don't break my heart Don't, don't, don't throw it away
  8. I know of a person who was ordered to leave a bar. Would anyone care to offer an opinion?
  9. Trading up for players with short arms is a new trend in the NFL. The short arms might have been the reason for trading up.
  10. Woman, when I saw you comin' Should've started runnin' Evil woman Woman, I offered to you my soul You ran it over hot coals You evil woman Woman, thought you were a blessin' Then I caught you messin' Evil woman Woman, you ain't got no feelin' You're just a dirty dealin' Yeah

  12. Yep you got me there. That was in 1982.
  13. I was watching a comedy show in Vegas last week (no, not the Bills draft). It consisted of 3 very talented comedians. The last one said slightly before the end of the show that please remember this is just comedy, and that the jokes are not meant to offend anyone. I guess that it is safe to assume that he sensed that there would be other incidents after Will Smith. I am not surprised, nor should anyone be. When bad behavior is condoned (if not rewarded in some cases), it will continue. There is no mystery here. Jmo.
  14. Very interesting post. As a life long Alabama Fan, I respectfully disagree with the bold, and I'll tell you why..... The 2021 college football season was a strange one. Almost every team (UGA being an obvious exception) had a dropoff in talent. Think about it, Cinn. was actually a playoff team (although they of course were promptly slaughtered). This draft, for lack of a better word, sucked. For example, Alabama had only 7 players drafted. 7 players!!! In 2021 they had 6 players drafted in the first round alone, along with 2 in the second. My point? I think that both Davonta Smith and Jaylen Waddle will have better NFL careers than Williams. Now, obviously this is not an all knowing proclamation. It is just a prediction/opinion from a fan who has seen every play of Smith and Waddle's college careers (and all of JW's in his time in Tuscaloosa). I was actually hoping that the Bills would trade down to acquire more picks in 2022, and use this draft to pick up receivers and guards (if no tackles were available) but alas; we traded UP for a first round zone corner, proving that we are still the Bills lol. But as @BADOLBILZ says all the time, this is entertainment. I am not going to get crazy over this draft, and tbh, I expected nothing less. GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  19. Benford from Villanova, no doubt. He would have been a fine pick in round 2, if not a top 10 overall selection.
