Your question is valid. Historically, the Bills neglect the OL (especially in the draft) no matter who is the QB, and I am including trading up for a corner in 22. If Allen was the QB I would not have approved of the trade (trading up was too costly) but I would not have been as angry as I was when they drafted Sammy with EJ at the helm. The above is certainly true. The trade to acquire Watkins was a shining, glaring example of utter stupidity. We had no QB and no OL, yet Whaley gave away the strore for a wide receiver. In this sense, his talent level didn't matter so much. Who was going to protect a second rate qb trying to throw Watkins passes? I knew all of this the day that he was drafted.

Remember, Josh played at freaking Wyoming. He didn't have the great coaching that most top QBs received. In terms of pure physical talent, the only qbs that enter my mind to have talent like Josh are Elway, Mahomes, and perhaps Trevor Lawrence and; I put Josh at the top of this list. Yes I do, and we weren't even good at doing that. Our #4 picks were Mike Williams and Marcel Dareus. I am thrilled that we are finally a good team and even placed a small bet on the Bills in Vegas at 6.5 x 1 odds, but decades of suffering don't just vanish (or at least not in my case). Good point. Imo, the entire ACC other than Clemson are weak sisters (at least for the time being). It does appear that Miami might be good at some point but as I said previously, the current situation gives Clemson an unfair advantage.
