CFB Playoff Expansion to 12 teams approved
Bill from NYC replied to YoloinOhio's topic in College Football
Your post makes sense and I agree with your conference rankings. You and I disagree about the importance of bowl games. For instance, I hope that Saban removes most if not all starters from any bowl we might play in and puts the freshmen in there. I even WANT Bryce Young to sit out the game, whereas I expect a QB battle next yesr between Jalen Milroe and Ty Simpson and I want to see them get playing time. Mac Jones got his first serious playing time in a bowl against Michigan and that turned out pretty well, no? -
Josh Allen leads NFL in interceptions

Call me crazy but imo he would play better if he had a coach who cares as much about blockers and wide receivers as he does about the secondary. Last time I looked it was difficult to throw touchdown pass to first round cornerbacks. -

My point is really simple. For example, Clemson: There is no doubt that Clemson has a solid, talented team year after year. They are (as you well know) 2-1 against Alabama in title games. They ran into one of those practically unbeatable teams (LSU) and lost to them. That LSU team was in a class with the 2021 Crimson Tide championship team but I digress. Almost every team that Clemson plays is horrible, or at the very least so-so. I heard Dabo say on Sirius that he removes his starters very early to give the subs playing time. My point? His teams arrive to the playoffs comparatively fresh and rested as compared to Alabama, Ohio State, and other teams. Should an undefeated TCU be allowed to go to the playoffs and promptly get crushed? Certainly. Should USC get in there if a few teams lose and they win out against garbage? Well, how would one justify keeping them out, even if they make last season's Cincinatti team look like the 2021 Crimson Tide? You say that teams are leaving the Big 12 to join the SEC because of the money and that is true, but it doesn't tell the whole story. The money is in the SEC because so are the talented teams. As an aside, NIL is really hurting, and will continue to hurt the top teams. Look at Texas A&M.....they had the highest ranked recruit class in the history of college football, and they are losing game after game. Football and boxing are primarily for poor folks. If you were 18-21 years old, with $500K in your pocket and living on a campus chock full of hot women, would you want to get hit by Will Anderson or Brian Branch? Would you want to be in bed sleeping in your room at 10 PM, after studying the playbook for 3 hours? I don't think so. I know that I would have been out there hanging out with the hot young girls night after night. Obviously the players deserve some money but there needs to be a system in place. The topic of NIL deserves it's own thread imo. PS: I already said that Alabama does not deserve a playoff spot this year. -

First of all, refrain from calling me names. Next, your team sucks. Alabama could have lost 5 games this season with their worst team in many years. Instead, they won 3 of those games, including a road win over your Mississppi team . Otoh, a weak OSU lost 48-0 to a so-so team. Not good. 🤣 Think what you will about the Big 12. Tell yourself how good they are, despite the parade of teams leaving it. Dream away. -

Austin Peay would probably be a competetive team in the soft Big 12. Obviously Alabama is not playing all that well this season. They have no business making the playoffs but it really is a sad day when TCU can make the playoffs coming from a second rate conference. The same applies to Clemson, and every team in the Pac 12. -
You've already won me over in spite of me And don't be alarmed if I fall head over feet And don't be surprised if I love you for all that you are I couldn't help it It's all your fault

I think that McDermott has far more power with this team than Beane. His drafts are a tell tale sign. He values defensive backs above all else and proved this when he traded Mahomes to the Chiefs before Beane was even there. This team needs blockers and wide receivers. Sadly, McDermott shows no signs of caring that much about them.

I prefer the Dead in 1989. Jerry appeared to be at least somewhat sober most of the time and they had some GREAT concerts that summer, including one in Buffalo.

I completely disagree. Two losses and two narrow wins will exclude them. Look, the Big 12, ACC, and Pac 12 suck. That said, Alabama is just another good team this year. They lack talent on the inside of the DL, Left Tackle, and especially wide receiver. Jacory Brooks is good, and he is their best receiver this season. On the Mac Jones championship Crimson Tide, this kid would be 4th string (behind Davonta, Waddle, and Metchie) AT BEST. And Mac played behind an excellent OL. Our LT is serviceable. He might be drafted in the middle to late rounds. That said, he is the worst we have had in at least 10 years; I think more. Bama has not been this weak in the interior DL for more than a decade. NIL is hurting certain terams. Bama is one of them. Look at Texas A&M. They have the highest rated recruiting class EVER, especially on both lines, yet their team is falling apart, losing games, and the coach has lost control. College Football has changed BIG TIME! In any event, The Crimson Tide will not make the playoffs.....THIS SEASON. But keep your fingers crossed and keep hating because in all probability, Saban will bring his team back.

I think that fans get conditioned to winning OR losing rather quickly. For example: 1) After decades of the Bills losing, I was expecting to lose almost every game. When Stevie Johnson dropped the game winning pass, who here was shocked? I didn't say angry LOL! I said "shocked." Be honest folks, when the Chiefs came back in the playoffs, how many of you we just so surprised? Now, we have a team with considerable talent and a QB who (imo) is a first ballot HOFer if he stays healthy. He might stay healthy too if we draft more blockers and less secondary but I digress. Now that the Bills are a winning team, losing a game (even on the road to a hot divisional rival) is shocking. 2) I am, and have been a lifelong Crimson Tide Fan. They are just another good team this season. Their main weaknesses? You guessed it.....wide receiver and of course the Offensive Line! Does this sound familiar? The Tide already has 2 losses this year and it is unsettling because of their history of greatness. My point? With Josh Allen, and the fact that pro football is of course a passing oriented sport, it was easy to start thinking about the Bills as "winners." The good news? We ARE now winners as long as Josh stays healthy, and he probably will if he runs less and is given more support in terms of blocking and receiving weapons. I made a small bet in Vegas on the Bills to win the Super Bowl and I expect to cash it after we do in fact win it all. GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
