Maybe so. But what you don't seem to get is that The Crimson Tide are not handed anything. Saban tells the world his coaching methods in virtually every interview. He isn't keeping secrets wrt what he feels that it takes to win. Hell, even McDermott runs around talking about the "process," a term invented by Saban. The trick is to work as hard as Saban does. Saban loses his OC, DC, and untold other assistants constantly. You know this very well, whereas even Daboll was another Saban rehab. He has former assistants all over the NCAA making millions upon millions of dollars. And let me say once again, NIL has REALLY changed things. College football players running the streets with hundreds of thousands of dollars in their pockets has altered the dynamics of the game. These kids are harder to motivate. If you don't believe me ask Jimbo Fisher, who had the highest ranked recruiting class of all time and is what, 4-7? Coach Saban must adapt to this and I'm sure that he can and will. One last thing....Oklahoma is not the garden spot of the USA, and neither is Alabama!!! It isn't like being in Alabama offers the kids an exciting atmosphere like USC perhaps. My point is that other teams have a big recruiting edge over Alabama (and Okla. St.) in terms of location. Anyway, I'm just a fan enjoying the ride.

Alabama had a rough (10 win) season. This by the way was the 15th time in a row that they won 10 games. Not so bad for a team that was average at best when the universally hated Coach Saban took over. You see, as a lifelong Crimson Tide Fan I am not forced to sing the blues over feeling like I was screwed over in 2011, or some other abstract year. If you read my posts on this thread, you will NOT find one in which I said that this Alabama team deserves a playoff spot. On the contrary, I said before and will say again that they do not. Now, if they woud have pulled out a win in one of their 2 losses (by a combined 4 points mind you), I would be singing a different tune, at least until the conference championship game. Next year will also be a question mark with the loss of Bryce Young. I am hoping that an improved OL and DL will help make up for the loss, at least to some degree. Either way, they will be able to compete with the best of teams. They have to, just by virtue of playing in the SEC. Btw, please do tell us about your favorite team.

You just won't stop with these meaningless bowl games, will you? I don't even want Bryce Young to play in a bowl game this season. I would rather see young players get reps at QB and other positions. I guess this is because I am an Alabama Fan and can understand true success. Alabama wins titles, not some bowl games with nothing really to gain. You otoh, as a fan of a so-so at best team need lower forms of success to cling to but that's ok; I suppose I would be the same way if the team I care about ranged from being a bottom feeder to just plain OK. It's all good. Keep grasping at straws. I have been doing this as a Bills fan for decades. I actually have watched the scoreboard a couple of times hoping (for your sake) that OK St. would win a game. You of course are free to disbelieve this. I want you to see how good it feels when the team you support wins a championship. Maybe we will both experience this with the Bills this year. 👍🏈

I heard the rankings that I quoted on Sirius ESPNU. Did you read my post? I clearly said that I don't think that Alabama will or should get in barring miracles. I fully understand that they have to allow lesser teams in there to maintain fan interest, thus TCU and USC. Do tell me, what chance do you give TCU or USC to beat Georgia?

TCU will be this season's Cincinnatti. In fact, I don't think that they are as good as Cincinnatti was last season. The truth is, TCU has a garbage schedule, just like USC. In fact, Ohio State's schedule ws ranked 69th in terms of difficulty, whereas Alabama's was ranked 9th. Before you accuse me, let me openly state that I am not making a case at this point for Alabama to make the playoffs. They lost 2 games by a total of 4 points that they could have and should have won. IF they had pulled out a victory in one of those games then yes, they would have deserved a playoff spot. At this point, they would need too many miracles.

Yeah, Bills Fans never know which loss will really set them off, or perhaps even why. I got very, very angry after the game where Stevie Johnson dropped the wide open, game winning TD pass, even before he blamed God. I remember being even more angry at that than I was at the Chiefs debacle. Truthfully, as a Bills Fan I am damaged to the point where I absolutely did not expect them to hold the lead, and I suspect I am far from being alone. Time flies. I am now in my sixties and can no longer afford to get torn apart by what the Bills do. The team plays a zone defense and has 2 first round corners. Our safeties are great but not getting healthier or younger. Will they draft a first round safety? Probably, and they might even trade up to do so. Should I allow myself to get angry to the point that my blood pressure goes up? Josh makes the team much more fun to watch but he needs more receivers and more blockers. Will they address these dire needs in a meaningful way? They might, and they very well might not but I can't control what they do, but; I would rather not get angry to the point that I need open heart surgery. In summary, I understand the pain that the OP feels. My advice is to look at the bright side because these actually ARE some wonderful things about being a Bills fan: 1) You and your children will become more loyal and used to handling adversity. Sounds trite? Yes but I believe this. 2) Bills Fans are really a fun group of nice, very funny people. I made some wonderful friends at the Stadium. 3) On this board, there are several true football experts. I feel lucky to converse with them. 4) That unknown exists.....how will I react when/if they DO win the Super Bowl? Your post makes sense and I agree with your conference rankings. You and I disagree about the importance of bowl games. For instance, I hope that Saban removes most if not all starters from any bowl we might play in and puts the freshmen in there. I even WANT Bryce Young to sit out the game, whereas I expect a QB battle next yesr between Jalen Milroe and Ty Simpson and I want to see them get playing time. Mac Jones got his first serious playing time in a bowl against Michigan and that turned out pretty well, no?

Call me crazy but imo he would play better if he had a coach who cares as much about blockers and wide receivers as he does about the secondary. Last time I looked it was difficult to throw touchdown pass to first round cornerbacks.

My point is really simple. For example, Clemson: There is no doubt that Clemson has a solid, talented team year after year. They are (as you well know) 2-1 against Alabama in title games. They ran into one of those practically unbeatable teams (LSU) and lost to them. That LSU team was in a class with the 2021 Crimson Tide championship team but I digress. Almost every team that Clemson plays is horrible, or at the very least so-so. I heard Dabo say on Sirius that he removes his starters very early to give the subs playing time. My point? His teams arrive to the playoffs comparatively fresh and rested as compared to Alabama, Ohio State, and other teams. Should an undefeated TCU be allowed to go to the playoffs and promptly get crushed? Certainly. Should USC get in there if a few teams lose and they win out against garbage? Well, how would one justify keeping them out, even if they make last season's Cincinatti team look like the 2021 Crimson Tide? You say that teams are leaving the Big 12 to join the SEC because of the money and that is true, but it doesn't tell the whole story. The money is in the SEC because so are the talented teams. As an aside, NIL is really hurting, and will continue to hurt the top teams. Look at Texas A&M.....they had the highest ranked recruit class in the history of college football, and they are losing game after game. Football and boxing are primarily for poor folks. If you were 18-21 years old, with $500K in your pocket and living on a campus chock full of hot women, would you want to get hit by Will Anderson or Brian Branch? Would you want to be in bed sleeping in your room at 10 PM, after studying the playbook for 3 hours? I don't think so. I know that I would have been out there hanging out with the hot young girls night after night. Obviously the players deserve some money but there needs to be a system in place. The topic of NIL deserves it's own thread imo. PS: I already said that Alabama does not deserve a playoff spot this year.

First of all, refrain from calling me names. Next, your team sucks. Alabama could have lost 5 games this season with their worst team in many years. Instead, they won 3 of those games, including a road win over your Mississppi team . Otoh, a weak OSU lost 48-0 to a so-so team. Not good. 🤣 Think what you will about the Big 12.
