Congrats To The Fans Of The 4 Playoff Teams.....
Bill from NYC replied to Bill from NYC's topic in College Football
I am going to jump on OSU but of course I hope that it goes to 7. The UGA QB is a smart guy and is pretty accurate. Your defense scares me a bit but I am pretty sure that your receivers will score touchdowns. NO OFFENSE, but I think that you have a better shot of winning against them than you did against Alabama 2 years ago. One thing I am sure of.....this Georgia team is not as good as that Bama team. I am not trying to blow smoke up your a$@, but I think that Ohio State can and will win the title. Good luck! -

How did we manage to win without 2 first round corners in a zone defense? -

Not really. I think that you stand a strong chance of beating them. What is the point spread? -
Yes, big time congrats to those whose favorite team has a chance to compete for the title. I hope for good, injury free football games for all 4 teams. 👍🏈

Seriously, how obtuse are you? I hope that Bryce Young doesn't play at all in a meaningless bowl game!!! I want to see our 2 backup QBs compete. There is a particular freshman RB (Jamarion Miller) who barely got to play this season and I have very high hopes for. I hope that he gets substantial playing time. Our young reveivers need more work as do our young OL and DL. To me, a bowl game is much more about player development than winning or losing. Mac Jones got hs first chance to start in a bowl game against Michigan. He did pretty well for us after that, dontcha think? ALL KIDDING ASIDE, maybe I wouldn't think this was if I was a fan of a lesser team. Good luck with OSU next season. I mean this.

I like to think that there are more things upon which we may agree. 👍👌

I strongly disagree with your first 2 paragraphs. If a team from a bargain basement, garage sale conference (Tulane for example) gets lucky one season and wins out, are you saying that they should get in over a 1 or even 2 loss Ohio State, etc.? How many players (besides JP Losman LOL) have they delivered to the NFL as compared to the top quality teams? Do you think that Tulane could beat any of the Top 20 teams? That said, I strongly agree with your last paragraph. In fact, I think that conference championship games should be eliminated. Having 12 playoff teams will already increase the workload for many of these kids, and the chance for them to suffer injury. Is there ANY doubt that some players will suffer career shattering injuries playing in these extra games? I get it that football fans are at least in a sense like fans of gladiators in days of old. I also understand that these players are now getting paid, and some are making lots of money. Still, some of them (the very good/great ones) stand to lose millions and for what? A conference title? They should make all conferences have one division and let the team with the best record (or tie breakers if necessary) be the conference champion. Jmo.

We used to laugh, we used to cry We used to bow our heads then, wonder why And now you're gone, I guess I'll carry on And make the best of what you've left to me Left to me, left to me I need you like the flower needs the rain You know I need you, guess I'll start it all again You know I need you like the winter needs the spring You know I need you, I need you

Now you swear and kick and beg us that you're not a gamblin' man Then you find you're back in Vegas with a handle in your hand Your black cards can make you money so you hide them when you're able In the land of milk and honey, you must put them on the table You go back, Jack, do it again, wheels turnin' 'round and 'round You go back, Jack, do it again

Whatever happened to The boy that I once knew? The boy who said he'd be true Oh, what will happen to The light I gave to you What will I do with it now? walking in the sand (Remember) walking hand-in-hand (Remember) the night was so exciting (Remember) his smile was so inviting (Remember) then he touched my cheek (Remember) with his fingertips (Remember) softly

You are probably right. The only draw that Alabama might have would be for him to look around at the salaries that Saban ex-assistants get paid. I'm talking about Kiffen, Smart, Locksley, Daboll, Jimbo, and countless others. Those five combined are good for close to, if not more than 50 million dollars in yearly salary. The man already has a great resume. Coaching for Saban would imo provide him with a one way ticket to the gravy train. In addition to the great receivers currently on your team, he can take at least some credit for Jameson Williams, who was already great when he came to Alabama. It will forever remain a mystery to me why he didn't play more at OSU but I think that ultimately Day was to blame. The current Alabama team would not lack talented players for him to develop. Coaching in the NFL is much easier than in college imo. Recruiting is a huge task. I also think that quite a few head coaches make considerably more money in college. I mean, look at the money that Mel Tucker makes but I digress. It would be very smart of Saban to covet Hartline. Taking a coach like him from a great program and consistent rival would be monumental. Do I think that it will happen? No, I do not but a man can dream, no? EDIT: I forgot to mention Sarkisian.

Our receivers coach did a lousy job this season and O'Brien is the worst OC we have had in recent memory. I am thinking that Nick could find a place for him.

No offense Ohio State fans but I hope that Coach Saban scoops him up!

I have no way of knowing, but I think that McDermott has far more power than Beane, and makes the decisions to opt for corners over blockers and weapons for Josh. Morse is very good but he isn't getting younger and has a pretty substantial history of injuries. Josh Allen is GREAT. He is (as we all know) the face of the franchise. We MUST protect him above all else. It is also quite obvious that we need help at wide receiver. That said, would a first round safety surprise you? Btw, @BADOLBILZhas been telling us the same things for months. This should have been clear to McDermott long ago. Jmo.

Round and round, the cut of the plow in the furrowed field Seasons round, the bushels of corn and the barley meal Broken ground, open and beckoning to the spring Black dirt live again The plowman is broad as the back of the land he is sowing As he dances the circular track of the plow ever knowing That the work of his days measures more than the planting and growing Let it grow, let it grow, greatly yield

Congrats to you for Florida State perhaps coming out of their long term doldrums. I remember the feeling when The Crimson Tide pretty much sucked. That said, the ACC IS a second rate conference, SO bad that it enables Clemson to coast into the playoffs seemingly at will, although even Clemson is not all that this season now are they? And for the record I do not root for other SEC teams, other than perhaps Arkansas because I lived there for a couple of months and was treated well. I don't care if Georgia wins or loses against TCU or USC. It is just my sincere opinion that Georgia will dog walk either one of those teams. This is my opinion to which I would seem to be allowed have, just as you are entitled to yours. Oh and if you want to compare the programs of Alabama and FSU, do start here if you will.
-
Maybe so. But what you don't seem to get is that The Crimson Tide are not handed anything. Saban tells the world his coaching methods in virtually every interview. He isn't keeping secrets wrt what he feels that it takes to win. Hell, even McDermott runs around talking about the "process," a term invented by Saban. The trick is to work as hard as Saban does. Saban loses his OC, DC, and untold other assistants constantly. You know this very well, whereas even Daboll was another Saban rehab. He has former assistants all over the NCAA making millions upon millions of dollars. And let me say once again, NIL has REALLY changed things. College football players running the streets with hundreds of thousands of dollars in their pockets has altered the dynamics of the game. These kids are harder to motivate. If you don't believe me ask Jimbo Fisher, who had the highest ranked recruiting class of all time and is what, 4-7? Coach Saban must adapt to this and I'm sure that he can and will. One last thing....Oklahoma is not the garden spot of the USA, and neither is Alabama!!! It isn't like being in Alabama offers the kids an exciting atmosphere like USC perhaps. My point is that other teams have a big recruiting edge over Alabama (and Okla. St.) in terms of location. Anyway, I'm just a fan enjoying the ride.
