The above is a correct and astute observation, but further explanation is in order. Ruggs was a very good wr at Alabama but the truth is, he was never the best receiver on that team. In fact, I'm not sure that he was ever the 2nd best. He played with fellow receivers such as Davonta Smith, Jalen Waddle, and a host of others. I saw a video of Ruggs racing Waddle. It was close but Ruggs beat him by a step. Those teams also had great offensive lines and a head coach who deep down would rather run the ball with a team full of very good running backs who could also catch. In other words, there was SO much talent that really all of their chances were spread out thus limited just a bit. Ruggs and Jameson Williams were the two fastest players that I ever saw at Alabama. I really can't say which one was faster but again, I saw quite a few better receivers than Ruggs. What I will say is that if he had a QB like Josh Allen, Ruggs could have caught 70 yard bombs. I never saw him caught from behind, ever. His off field incident was obviously beyond horrible. 😟

I thought that a healthy Dickerson would easily develop into the best center in the NFL. I admit to not knowing that he would be on his way to being the best GUARD in the NFL. He is freaking deadly on short yardage downs. Did you see what he did to the 49ers on those plays? He gained muscle after leaving Alabama, where he was already a monster. Man I wish that we would have drafted that kid!!! -

GB, I am sure that YOU targeted him. So did @BADOLBILZ, who said that he was the best corner in that draft. What I don't believe is that McDermott was targeting him specifically, 6 dbs and 17 picks later. It also tells me that he was after a db specifically despite having no quarterback. As I told you in a previous thread, I posted that I wanted the Bills to draft Landon Dickerson. It sounds crazy but often Bills Fans make better draft choices than men that are paid millions of dollars. An average 10 year old drafted better than Levy/Jauron. McDermott is a step or so above that horrid duo; this I will admit. -

Do you actually think that McDermott was targeting Tre White 17 picks and 6 dbs later? -
Perhaps, but 1st round RBs are an improper way to build a football team, especially a team with a very suspect offensive line and a potential HOF QB who needs to be protected. A "bpa" safety would also be ill advised. Please, since OJ Simpson, find me a first round RB or Safety who was a big help to the Buffalo Bills....... https://www.drafthistory.com/index.php/teams/bills

I cannot understand how you, or anyone can make this claim wrt 2017. Yes, Dawkins and Milano were excellent picks. That said, the overall draft was started with stupidity. McDermott had a top 10 pick with Mahomes staring him in the face. What did he do? He got fleeced by Andy Reid and traded all the way down to 27, and for doing so was vastly undercompensated. Now, he did this for what reason? To draft an unspecified defensive back. Why do I use the term "unspecified?" Because no less than 6 DBs were drafted between 10 and 27. That's right.....6! It is ridiculous to think that he was targeting Tre White 17 picks later. I make the case that McDermott (bad strategy or not) lucked into Tre White. He had no way of knowing that White would be there 17 picks later. This was just a softer version of the awful drafting/dumb philosophy of the ever so sickening Levy/Jauron 1st round debacle in 2006 (Donte Whitner). Of course, the rest of the 2006 draft was also a train wreck (other than Kyle Williams). After passing on Mahomes, the Bills got even luckier in getting Allen. i am sure that I'm in a huge monority but I have had more than my share of McDermott. I think that his mistakes are glaring and his philosophy is misguided. I am sorry if I come off a bit snarky. You are one of the better posters in the 25 years or more that I have been on this board. Nothing here is aimed at you. I am just sick of watching the team I love make the same dumb mistakes over and over......... -
Nah, McDermott will grab a safety.

I hope that he never plays another game but he just might. Questions remain: Was a gun recovered? Were there independant witnesses? Will the complainant be bought off and refuse to prosecute? If Mixon slides on this, it will be far from the first time that a dirtbag got over on the system. In fact, Mixon is accustomed to doing just that.

Looking at our options to rebuild the o-line in 2023

Have you or @GunnerBillBill seen Bradley Bozeman in the NFL? I liked him alot in college, and he is one of those "high character" guys. He has a charity, etc. PS: He ain't no Landon Dickerson who is a flat out beast imo. -
Should QB Compensation Be Carved Out of the Salary Cap?
Bill from NYC replied to st pete gogolak's topic in The Stadium Wall
I get what you are saying but remember when the NFLPA insisted on cap adjustments? Iirc they wanted minimums for vets and a rookie cap. The thing is, the QBs took virtually all of the money that was saved from the rookie cap. I am merely saying that if they didn't count towards the cap, NFL QBs would likely be the highest paid players in all of sports, and owners would be furious watching the 75-100 million dollar per season QB out for the season with an injury which happens often. And do remember, people watch and attend games and buy jerseys because of QBs, not offensive guards. -
Exactly what does the Head Coach do????
Bill from NYC replied to Billsfan1972's topic in The Stadium Wall
Although I have no right to "demand" that he is fired, I for one wish that the Bills would fire McDermott and have posted as much. I would probably be OK with retaining him but only if his power was reduced big time in terms of the draft (which imo he controls). McDermott isn't really as bad as the parade of incompetent coaches we have seen in Buffalo for the last 25 or so years, and this makes him look good to many of us. That said, he resembles Jauron a bit too much for my liking and he drafts defense first without giving much thought to protecting our HOF QB and providing him with ample weapons. More of the same, ya know? -

He used to stand next to Levy and the two of them would be shouting obscenities at the refs for what seemed like most of the game. On TV you could even see the saliva flying out of their mouths. Sometimes Mauch would be screaming obscenities at refs when Levy was quiet. I would have told him to shut the f$#@ up before we get penalized, but by that time Levy was not 100% coherent imo. Being a Bills Fan is great. I would not trade being one to root for any other team, but as Jerry Garcia said, "what a long, strange trip it's been." 👍🏈😲😃 -
Should QB Compensation Be Carved Out of the Salary Cap?
Bill from NYC replied to st pete gogolak's topic in The Stadium Wall
And who is to blame for that? The league? No. The present and past Bills administrations are at fault. Other teams look OK wrt the cap, especially those that are able to draft better than 12 year old kids with a computer. Yes, the teams that know how to draft are on top, not a team that sends McClappy out there to grab the nearest 1st round cornerback, DT, or LB, even in he has to trade up! If QBs didn't count against the cap, players like Josh would command 100 million per season. If you owned an NFL Franchise, woold you like to pay 100 million to a QB after he gets injured, which they all do? The system isn't perfect but it is pretty damn good. Jmo. -

It is coming our way. Yesterday was an actual high of 55. Friday is supposed to be a low of 4 Farenheit. -
As a life long Crimson Tide Fan, I must say that I am not overly thrilled by Steen, even though a 3rd is not a terribly high risk for a LT. My thing is that he isn't great at run blocking or pass blocking and isn't terribly strong, or at least does not seem to be. I am very curious to see his bench numbers with 225 at the combines. He truly was the worst LT that Alabama has fielded in more than 10 years. That said, he is smart and I guess that there is room for improvement. I will evaluate all of the draft eligible players on the college board before the draft.
