Elam now CB4 and playing kickoff coverage in the preseason
Bill from NYC replied to Process's topic in The Stadium Wall
Smart move to trade up for him, no? I mean, we really didn't need blockers and receivers for Josh. We desperately needed a first round corner in a deep CB draft. If Elam doesn't pan out, let's just hope that McDermott (the man really in charge) has learned his lesson wrt the draft. -

Conor Orr (from Si.com) and his prediction: Bills at 9-8 🤔
Bill from NYC replied to Italian Bills's topic in The Stadium Wall
And you too raise good points. The thing is, some of the guys you mentioned were there before the rule changes. The QB position is even more vital than it was back in the day. The salary structure it quite telling imo. QBs like Jones, Cousins, etc. are making 40-50 million per season. Owners seem to feel that without these guys their teams would barely win any games. I don't know; maybe they are right. If Josh had better blocking and receivers I think that they would win the Super Bowl. That said, I still put a very small bet on them to do so when I was at at Mohegan Sun for a concert. -
Remember being told that CJ Spiller was great "in space?" 😃🙄

Conor Orr (from Si.com) and his prediction: Bills at 9-8 🤔
Bill from NYC replied to Italian Bills's topic in The Stadium Wall
The only way I can see the Bills at 9-8 is if Josh misses multiple games. If Josh plays the season there is NO WAY he loses 8 games. He is just too good. Josh will have to carry the team this season but this is not so unusual in the NFL these days. My fear is whether or not he is protected by his OL. But hey, we do have some first round corners and even traded up for one of them, so things are looking up. -
Well, I keep on thinkin' 'bout you Sister Golden Hair surprise And I just can't live without you Can't you see it in my eyes? I've been one poor correspondent And I've been too, too hard to find But it doesn't mean you ain't been on my mind

It turns my stomach just a tad when someone refers to their wife, husband, partner as their "soul mate." Look, I know that sometimes it is true, but; referring to someone as your "soul mate" is a statistical lie. When the relationship ends (as they generally do), is/was this same person really your soul mate? Do let me know after your divorce costs you a half a million dollars.

Are you still glad that the Bills traded him when they did?

The Bills need players who can block and catch passes. The do not need a QB who cannot pass.

As a Bills fan of the NFL, what keeps your fandom?
Bill from NYC replied to Milanos Milano's topic in The Stadium Wall
In my case, none of the above. A better question would be, "how could I NOT stay a fan until I die?" I was with them through 4 Superbowls, and some of the most idiotic personnel moves in NFL history. Also, imbecelic drafts which never seem to end, and sadly I'm just scratching the surface. But you know what else I had? The pleasure of meeting Bills Fans and being a part of something that more often than not seemed like a hopeless case. Tailgates in Lot 1 pole 6 at which I was made to feel completely welcome. I can't just turn my back on these people and/or these moments. What would I do? Become a Chiefs fan? Impossible. Yeah, I'm here til the end. I wouldn't have it any other way. GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
Actually, he seemed like a very nice guy. When he was in NYC for the draft he went into a firehouse and was joking around with the firemen not so long after 911. They all seemed to really like him. The thing is, Williams was a RT in college (never played LT to my knowledge) and came into the league with an ankle injury. People said "no problem, his college QB was left handed." Yeah, OK. In college, he was at least twice as strong as any defender he faced but as we know, this matters less in the pros. McKinnie otoh was great. Yes he had an off field issue or two but he was a fantastic LT. I remember being up in Buffalo for a game and Univ. of Miami was playing Syracuse that Saturday. McKinnie DEMOLISHED Dwight Freeney the entire game to the extent that I thought that Freeney was way overrated (and he turned out to be an excellent NFL player). Donohoe seemed to hate McKinnie and took "Big Mike" instead. McKinnie could have been our LT for 15 years or so. So there it is. We walked away from McKinnie and traded Jason Peters. It's really hard to believe.

A wave on the ocean A whirlwind on the sand I took a notion That her ship could not land So light me a candle In the forest so deep Honey, lay down beside me Angels rock us to sleep Oh, Corey, I'll be coming soon Through the Louisiana pines To the Mississippi moon Through the Louisiana pines To the Mississippi moon

Yes but really, he went from UDFA TE to RT to LT and was actually a GREAT LT. Although the timing of his holdout was unconvential, Peters really did deserve a raise. There were very few instances in which a very good to great LT has ever been traded. Willie Roaf comes to mind and although he was good, Peters was a clearly superior player (and supposedly there were personal issues involved). There was no excuse to trade Peters. He was the best player on the team at that time. We were not even fairly compensated. It was one of the dumbest trades I for one have ever seen. Mr. Wilson just refused to pay Peters what he was worth.
-
There are still people (not naming names) who defend trading HOF bound Jason Peters.

Go down, Miss Moses There's nothin' you can say It's just ol' Luke, and Luke's waitin' on the Judgement Day "Well, Luke, my friend What about young Anna Lee?" He said, "Do me a favor, son Won't ya stay and keep Anna Lee company?"
