  1. 1985, 1987 and 1995 were very good, no?
  2. No, you absolutely cannot. The 2006 draft was even much worse imo, but the good news is that Levy/Jauron are gone. I was not pleased by the first pick of 2010 nor the second pick this year. That said, Nix/Gailey are still clearly superior to those two. Imo it isn't even close.
  3. This was a great post. Few wanted Mallett as much as I did but I must admit, Bellichick is in a perfect position to read this kid the riot act. He can bring him in his office and threaten him, and throw him off the team in a minute if he screws up. He isn't about to lose his job, and has won after getting rid of proven players, let alone a rookie with issues. Hell, he can drive him to a crack house and boot him out of the car if he so chooses. Overall, this draft must be combined with the first to be properly assessed. I wanted them to get bigger on defense, and they did. Do I think they focused enough on blocking? No. Do I think that they should have taken McElroy as a backup when he was there in round 7 instead of a corner? Yes. Now, I hope we get Kevin Boss and a decent backup QB in free agency. Allow me to apologise to the OP if this qualifies as not thinking each and every move was perfect.
  4. OK, we are taking 2 entirely different positions here, and that is some of what this board is for imo. Do I believe that Belichick was fielding offers? Yes I do. He has a history of drafting some good players. Not the best ever mind you, but he has done it. Teams would want to move in front, and do every draft, no? Now, let's switch to the Bills. Mike Williams was a #4. Donte Whitner an #8. Spiller a #9. McKelvin an #11. When did Lynch go, 13? Was Maybin an 11? Because of our idiotic draft history, we probably get less inquiries than the Pats, but I have a hard time believing that there were NO offers to trade down. The fact is that they must have really wanted a corner (safety?). One more stupid stop on the early pick defensive back merry go-round that has resulted in loss after loss and despair. We play in the elements of WNY and need to have a running game. Imo it is unacceptable to have stumblebums playing OT with highly touted, under producing defensive backs soaking up an undue percentage of our draft resources and payroll. Call me crazy.
  5. What would hurt your case is the fact that they traded away a pro bowl LT and replaced him with a 7th round pick who we are still waiting to see results from. Start from 2006, and count the high secondary draft picks. Then factor in the udfas and ufas. Then it will be clear to you that we have devoted more resources to the secondary than any other area of the team. If this makes sense to you, that's great. But to me, this is a real reason as to why we consistently lose football games.
  6. Good call Beerball. One could hit the mega-ball and have a 3 day session with Charleze Theron, and the Bills would find a way to bring you right back to earth.
  7. Belichick was on the radio today saying he had numerous inquiries about trading the pick. Am I out of line for assuming that we too could have easily had a trade down partner? But of course, we absolutely HAD to have a corner (or is he a safety?). I like this selection in that we might see less of Whitner's second grade level tweets posted, whereas he is out of here. Other than that it sucked. It is a classic Bills example of what not to do. The Bills lose football games. There is no point in maintaining failure. They should start from the ground up and build a good, strong team. One with talent and depth at QB and both lines. Face it folks, we are cursed.
  8. It really can Harvey. Imo, we are on the cusp of having a splendid draft. But, as a Bills fan I am realistic. That said, we really are in the drivers seat, no?
  9. I am feelin' ya lol! Mallett has a chance to be in the Hall of Fame imo. He could also very easily bust out, and I am fully at peace with this. Bro, he makes throws that I don't remember seeing. Coach Saban said that he makes 3 or 4 throws per game that nobody else at all can make. I do hope that one of us gets our wish and that it works out right. In any event. let's keep our fingers crossed that they don't do something idiotic, ya know?
  10. Sure there is. He was arrested once and there were drug rumors. That said, we have used the #11, #8, and other early first round picks of a draft on marginal at best players. Whitner really had no chance for greatness. Neither did McKelvin. And, most of our 2nd round picks also sucked. This kid has an arm comparable to that of Marino. At this point, what do we really have to lose by taking a chance?
  11. Soon to be UFA Kevin Boss can.
  12. And you and I have been on the same page wrt this for years. He will not step in and unseat Fitz. The Bills would have this year and next to build a strong OL. The kid can throw like nobody I have seen for many years. I just can't see passing him up but remember.....I thought Rob Johnson would be great and I openly admit this.
  13. Go ahead and say it Senator. Since when do you hold back?
  14. 1) Nice pick Mr. Nix!!! 2) Imo, teams will be beating down the door to trade up. PLEASE don't do it unless it includes a #1 in 2012!!! 3) Blast away, but I am hoping that they take Mallett. I would have to think about it to figure out if I ever wanted to see the Bills draft someone THIS much. If he busts out or smokes crack, what will it cost them? Peanuts, and he has a chance imho to be an all time great. 4) I hope they find a way to draft John Moffitt. We are thin at OG by any measure, and this kid can block (again, imho). 5) I won't be THAT pissed off if they select Bowers, but I am not high on him at all. In fact, I hope that the patsies take him to be honest. 6) We have probably not been in a good situation coming into round 2 since 2001, and I think that today is a much better place. 7) I hope that all of you are in the same happy state of mind that I am. Bickering aside, we really are just a great bunch of fans. Thanks SDS. 8) GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  15. You really are funny!!! It's good to see that you are also using some of hogboy's style. Yes it is, but as good as you are, he is the master! Enjoy the draft!
  16. This was the best part of your post. We have had a decade plus of sheer stupidity wrt the draft, and the Spiller selection was frightening to say the least. That said, now there is hope. We have early picks, and a chance to transform this team. This is we brothers and sisters in pain do deserve. GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  17. There is nothing to indicate that the Bills would not be this stupid. Nothing whatsoever. Dick Levy is gone, but the fact that the new regime wasted a pick on Spiller does linger. We are a tiny little weak team that pays in the wind, cold and snow, and so do our main opponents. The next few days are a chance for us to turn around the unexplainable stupidity of picks such as Whitner, McKelvin, Lynch, Maybin, and other flops. We can make this team strong, one our opponents will be forced to respect. You and I are not young, but we are obviously in this for life. If the stupidity continues, the franchise will be in serious jeopardy. My hope is that they go in a different, sane direction right now. Peterson? I would rather draft a guard at #3, and I am 100% serious. GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  18. NGU, any thoughts on blockers? Does the OL seem to be a high priority? Thanks again!
  19. I fully agree, but this might make too much sense.
  20. The corners would be way more serviceable if there was any pass rush.
  21. I agree. The way to win in the NFL is to allocate your best resources to corners and safeties, neglect both lines, and let the dbs walk away in free agency whether they are good or not.
  22. Thanks for the news. At least they aren't wasting a pick on a defensive back. Two questions if I may..... 1) How do you personally feel about Miller in terms of what he can contribute to this team? 2) What is your take on Ryan Mallett? Thanks again. GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!
  23. Yes, that is correct. Also, running backs improve blocking, and the key to a good pass rush is defensive backs.
