  1. Levitre is average sized at best. Bell is small and weak. Yes. McKelvin is an absolute bust for a #11. Seriously, what would even raise this question. Do you have any doubt at all that he is a bust, and a stupid draft selection?
  2. Oh yeah, Spiller was going to make our OL better. And people actually believed this.
  3. LOL read my post above!
  4. Thanks. Personally I am glad to see him sit it out. He doesn't need to get any better than what I saw against the Bears.
  5. How about Merriman?
  6. You very possibly could be right. But if so, imo this points out the stupidity of this selection both in terms of winning football games, and getting value at #9.
  7. I am out of the loop. Merriman is out? I would have liked to see him even come close to what he showed in game 1. He was just that good. If he plays at anywhere near that level he will instantly become the best player on the team. This aside, I would like to of course see Dareus continue to make progress and NOT get hurt. After that, I am hoping that Batten proves again that he is a legit pass rusher. On offense, I hope that Chandler justifies Nix in terms of not going after Kevin Boss, which imo was a very dumb move. But, what do I know? After all, I am not working for the Bills.
  8. Running backs tend to have the quickest adjustments. This is why, unless a player is a superstar, you don't want to waste a #9 on a running back, let alone a gadget player. Trust me, if Spiller was selected in round 6 (which was about right for his production), he wouldn't have a 3 year window.
  9. You and I go back a while. Have I EVER made the case that Mr. Wilson is a competent owner in terms of winning football games? Call me a conspiracy theorist if you will, but I believe that the commissioner wanted no part of Vick in Buffalo and that sucks. This was coming from the man who held the cards in terms of his re-instatement. The entire scenario lends itself to being unfair to this really wonderful fanbase.
  10. This post makes total sense. Not only that, Vick, like no other, could have prevailed over the weakness of our long term, pathetic offensive line. Fitz is actually a bandaid over these stiffs. Vick, in terms of mobility, is in a class alone. I agree 100% in terms of taking chances. Not drafting Mallett was an example of this. They had nothing to lose, and a chance to gain a quarterback with almost unlimited potential. Nix could have actually drafted Mallet on a trade down and got him AND another pick. My prediction? Ralph will sue, win, and make a ton of money. I am not a Ralph basher; I respect the man. And he forgot more than every person on this board combined will ever know about making cash. Overall, seeing the Bills and their great fans get screwed like this sickens me. We have enough problems. GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  11. I suppose he will, but it wouldn't surprise me if he doesn't reach 1,500 on the ground in his entire career. He will be given more time because he was an early pick ala McCargo so this will certainly help. He also might turn out to be a very good back, although I saw no flashes of it last season. Time will tell.
  12. Here is another wrinkle...... http://www.drafthistory.com/years/2011.html In round 2 of this draft, we selected a corner at #2. Nix said that he had numerous trade down offers in every round. Defensive backs were selected at #18 and #28. Offensive Tackles were taken at 14, 17, and 31. Pitt and Indy each took one by the way. My point? How much did they have to love Williams? It seems like they could have addressed OT AND CB in round 2 with a trade down. I hope that Williams can live up to all of this.
  13. There could be any reason for this. Who knows, he could have mouthed off to the coaches, etc. None of us know what caused this rather odd move. And btw, I stick to my contntion that he is our most solid blocker, as scary as this may be.
  14. OK....we are doing so well going this route that I will change my outlook.
  15. Maybe others can sense hostility Scott. I personally do, and wish I knew how to alleviate it.
  16. Very true, unnecessary vitriol notwithstanding.
  17. Scott, this is what people do here, and imo a big part of what makes it a great place to go. The Bills haven't brought in a star free agent since TKO, so the draft is a place where all of us get our hopes up, but you already know this. This site is WAY ahead of the curve in terms of knowing the problems facing this team. Think about it, when was the last time you saw a link (like the one today to the NY Times) and actually learned something about the Buffalo Bills? What did they say? That we needed offensive tackles? Gee thanks. Posters on this site go out of their way to share their knowledge about the draft, and I appreciate this. I can name several posters (myself NOT included) that have more than enough football knowledge to be employed by the Bills, and I have tailgated with many of them. Thanks for providing this forum to people who are fanatical enough about the Bills to do their "homework" and share their views.
  18. There is some truth in this because I watched our favorite football team lose continuously because of this type of stupidity. But in the case of Whitner, I was particularly upset because he was small. I remember posting a question if he could get on all of the rides at Disneyland right after he was picked.
  19. It appears to me to have been a senseless pick. I like reading C-Mans posts but he is angry at me for not liking the duo of Levy/Jauron, so he lashes out at me once a month or so. It's all cool.
  20. You answered your own question. That, and the Levy/Jauron stupidity of building a team through the secondary.
  21. I would like to see the thread after Whitner was drafted.
  22. No to the bolded. You change it to offer Fitz (or the new qb that you call for) protection. And you do it to offer a small, nifty little #9 draft selection room to run. Once again, I concede that the game has changed. It's more of a passing game. I still make the case that the Bills have a couple of games per year (home and road) when passing is often not the greatest option. When the Bills had a great defense (Bruce, Bryce, Big Ted, etc.) they couldn't win because they were weak up front on offense. Until they change this it will be hard for them to be a playoff team, especially in this tough, strong division.
  23. By all means. I will be happy if you do so because it will mean he is good. Btw, I expect him to break a long one soon and get us all excited. You might want to wait until he does something that counts.
  24. I agree with almost every word of this post. Wood was seriously injured, and it's hard to say if he will ever play up to being a first round pick who we traded away our best player for. Before that particular draft, I didn't know much about Wood and would have been fine with the Bills taking Levitre at #28. He played LT in college; this explains his agility. He reminds me of Eric Steinbach in terms of balance and versatility. He isn't a bruiser but I'm perfectly OK with him at LG. In terms of the 2011 draft, I feel your pain. Like the Senator says in this thread, Mallett was there to be taken. I like Fitz, but not grabbing Mallett will haunt us for many years imo. But even at that, a corner with the 2nd selection of round 2? It was also weird that a corner was taken 1 pick ahead of him by NE. Yes, I think that they should have either went for an OT at that spot (and might have been able to get one AND trade down), or offered Clabo enough guaranteed cash that he couldn't say no. Still, I was thrilled by what I saw from Dareus, and most of all Merriman, who was a flat out beast. We have a chance to be a good defensive team this season. Seriously.
