Jason Peters...Surprise Surprise..
Bill from NYC replied to West End Stench's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm cool with that. But lets please take into account what positions they play. I mean fair is fair, ya know? In the 2009 draft, I was hoping that the Bills would draft Levitre at 28. I of course ran it by Badolbilz and R.Rich lol. As I recall, we had to trade up for him to get him in round 2, but my memory is hazy. Yes, Wood was injured and the injury was quite serious. He is a guy who goes all out, and I do hope we can keep him. If not, keep your eye on Vlachos from Alabama. As for Sunday, I am hoping that we can exploit the side vacated by Peters. Hopefully Merriman, Carrington, and even Batten will find their way to Vick. GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
It's Time For Brad Smith
Bill from NYC replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
A close friend of mine is a jet fan. He was almost in tears when we signed him. I am generally not all that high on "gadget players." This kid is different. He is fast AND big. Just a multi-talented player who as you said, has picked up KEY first downs for us. It's all good. -
It's Time For Brad Smith

I watched the game with no sound, but noticed what seemed to be his ring finger was taped up. Others on the board (John Adams) saw him moving his hand and wincing on the sidelines. It was abvious to me that he wasn't getting the usual "zip" on his throws. -
Here's why..... 1) He hasn't been exposed too much. We can "sneak" him on opposing defenses. The kid is GOOD!!! 2) I still think that Fitz's finger affected his ability to throw last week. In fact, I am all but sure. He doesn't have a Phillip Rivers gun, but he throws harder than he did against the Bengals. Who knows how he will be on Sunday? 3) With Bell out, we may need to run a few less conventional plays to take pressure off of the rookie LT. The good news is that I actually have faith in Gailey to implement a successful offensive plan. The better news is that I think that we can win this football game. It sucks that the Eagles season would seem to hinge upon a win but ya know what? Screw em'. GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jason Peters...Surprise Surprise..
Bill from NYC replied to West End Stench's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You and I will never agree on how good Peters was. I don't particularly like the way he treated this organization, but Jason Peters was/is a whole hell of a lot better than Wood imo. Certainly we can agree to disagree. One point on which I will not bend.....it will be a VERY good thing for the Bills if Peters doesn't play on Sunday. Teams cannot just replace someone that good. They will have to adapt by taking away other weapons such as a TE or RB to compensate. It's all good my Senatorial friend. -
At the seasons quarter mark....let's be honest...
Bill from NYC replied to Kipers Hair's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You know exactly where I am going with the bolded. Imo, the Bills are improved on both sides of the ball this season. What they still lack imo is pass rush, and strength on the offensive front. I think the fact that Aaron Williams was injured put a strain on our secondary as well. McKelvin isn't a player one can count on imo. Having said that, life was easy for the secondary on the sack by Dareus, no? Obviously, we can't have plays such as this all the time, but we need more pressure. A player such as Courtney Upshaw would help us a ton. Despite the above, this is a better team than the one they fielded last season. The Bills did need some luck to beat NE. So what? We are better at a lot of important positions, to include QB (Fitz is better than last year), DT and TE. Our OL, while not what I want, is also improved. And there are young receivers who look as if they can and will contribute. The next 5 games are going to be rough, but I feel like we have a chance to win any of them. And it wasn't like this last year. GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!! -
Right, gotcha!

Link? I know Peters is hated in these parts but him being out of the lineup would be HUGE!!!

A Few Thoughts About The Game
Bill from NYC replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Fitz, as much as I like him, doesn't have arm strength to spare. If he is OK, we can beat the Eagles on Sunday. At least this season we go into games having a chance. -
A Few Thoughts About The Game
Bill from NYC replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Team have gone a long way with QBs who are not as good as Fitz. The Chiefs and Cassell come to mind as just one example. I worry a lot less about Fitz than I do a couple of early first round draft picks that make big bucks and produce little. -

There you go. Fitz was not himself, espscially early in the game. For instance, on one of his completions (I'm thinking it was to Chandler), the receiver was open and if Fitz would have lead him, there would have been a big gain. On another play, he was standing tall in the pocket and threw a pass with virtually no zip. Plus, he had all of 5 yards rushing which is also telling imo. I was thinking that a called qb run would have worked. You know, I read these post during the week about the Bills having the best OL in the leage, etc. The truth is that a healthy Fitz makes these guys appear to be better than they are. Again, I am pretty sure that the injury to his throwing hand really affected Fitz a great deal. Jmo. -
A Few Thoughts About The Game

Thanks for that; I edited it. Not sure if I agree about 27 teams stuck in the middle (sounds a bit high), but your point is taken. And, the closer that teams are bunched together, coaching and depth take upon much larger roles. -
1) Chris Kelsay, for all of the beating he has taken on this board, is playing very well. 2) I'm sorry, there was obviously something up with Fitz. What was that on his throwing hand? His ring finger appeared to be taped. If you look at his overall numbers they weren't bad but his passes lacked zip and for the most part he was fairly well protected. 3) The sack by Dareus was as as good as it gets. I could watch that play 100 times and not get bored. Can you begin to imagine this kid in a year or 2? 4) Wilson and Scott both made plays. They had their hands full with Gresham, but they played smart, alert football. 5) I wish that Chan would have used Smith in the wildcat a couple of times. Gailey doesn't need my advice as a coach, of this I am well aware. Still, Brad Smith is a nice weapon imo. 6) Speaking of weapons, Spiller continues to frustrate me. I know he didn't get a lot of touches, but it's time to ask why, isn't it? 7) I understand that we needed more pass rush, especially against a rookie. That said, McKelvin is to the secondary what JP Losman is to the QB position. McKelvin has all the speed in the world, but he caught out of position and picked on by a rookie. He will make a play here and there because of his talent but that's not enough. It would be nice to be able to count on him. 8) You thought I was going to blast Bell for the sack he gave up, no? Not this time. In all he played pretty well and I hope he is healthy. My opinion of Bell is changing. 9) Levitre played another good game and was responsible for the TD run by Jackson at the end of the half. I hope they lock him up soon with a new contract. 10) It was a very disappointing loss, but the Bengals are better than I thought. One has to be impressed by Dalton, Gresham and Green to name a few. But, this team HAS to not look back and win at home. I think that can do it. 11) GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Astro, if you have time, take a close look at the Alabama defense tonight, and start with Courtney Upshaw, who simply does whatever he wants. He imo will be great in the NFL. Then, look at every single player in their secondary, which might just be the best in the history of college football. There are more.....Donta Hightower, Nico Johnson, Barrett (if he comes out), Vlachos, Trent Richardson, etc. This team is just chock full of stars. It would be hard for us to go wrong by snatching up players from Alabama.

Buffalo Bills GM Game!

How about LaMarr Woodley or Davis Harris over Poz? -
Do the bills have the best O-line in the NFL?

Who is really an idiot? Someone who criticized an OL that was bad for almost 2 decades or someone who continues to sing the praises of Dick Jauron? -
Can Bills fans survive losing a couple of games?
Bill from NYC replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Are we prepared to deal with a loss? There are posters here who have stuck with this football team throughout 11 years of no playoffs, let alone the superbowl years. You might want to be more introspective and ask yourself if you can deal with any criticism of this team on an internet message board or from any sportswriter in the continental United States if they play a lousy game and/or show any weakness. -
Have a great time!!!

Should we make Spiller a WR?
Bill from NYC replied to SelmonSmith6378's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Look, we are all thinking positive about this football team at 3-0 and this is great. However, the above is utter nonsense at this point. Yes, complete utter nonsense. -
Who does Fitz remind you of?
Bill from NYC replied to HarvardHowitzer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree with you. He doesn't look like Flutie and is a much easier person to like, but just like Flutie, his agility makes the OL seem a lot better than they are. Both of them were/are great at getting out of trouble and getting their bodies in position to step into throws. Bledsoe could make many of these throws laying on a lounge chair, but he was more prone to get sacked. Even athletic qbs such as JP and especially RJ were finished when they started rolling out. Fitz also reminds me of a younger Matt Hasselback. MH had a bit more arm imo, but Fitz is more aglie. And as we know, MH got to a superbowl. If we can continue to make this a stronger, more talented team, the sky is the limit. -
A difference between Chan and Dick
Bill from NYC replied to Wagon Circler's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
When Fitz rolls out he makes things happen. In a way he has to because much like Flutie, Fitz has to step into a lot of his throws. When Losman rolled out, disaster awaited. JP couldn't make it in other systems besides ours despite his fine arm. The Colts could use a strong arm QB now, but it appears as if the league has given up on Losman. It was a fine thought, but imo JP gave us what he had. Then, the league figured him out and he was through. -
I hate to, but I have agree. There is too much of a coaching difference as well. Obviously, I hope we are wrong.
-
Yes, and many were crucial. Brad Smith is going to be a major contributor to this team imo.
-
The above is beyond dispute, but I think that I have a feel for where the OP was going. I am as euphoric as anyone here. Its as if I can't take my mind off of what is happening with this team. Seriously, it's almost surreal, and I feel like I can't down as a fan for this game. And I do know how little sense this makes. On paper, this game was made for us imo. They have a rookie qb who one would think that we can pressure and exploit. And the Bengals have their usual legal distractions to boot. A win here could enable us to finish at 6-6 and have a 10-6 record. So no, this game is NOT as important as the NE game was. But it feels like it is to me. GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
